US secretary of state Antony Blinken welcomes Finland as the 31st member of Nato and says the alliance has Russian President Vladimir Putin to thank for the move.
Finland decided to join the alliance after Russia's invasion of one of its other neighbouring countries, Ukraine, in 2022.

Military bases aren't always aggressive? It's like complaining a country let's it's pals in it to be armed and ready. Sure it could be used aggressively but convincing foreigners to fight for you against their countries wish in an aggressive war is harder than it is in a defensive one.
