“Critics want to mention that they miss when hip-hop was rappin' Mf****, if you did, then Killer Mike would be platinum.” - K Dot, “Hood Politics”, “TPAB”
This is just my personal opinion- This is the first Rap Album that I have listened to without skipping a song from beginning to end in years. Musically, this album can't be touched and is some of the best production I have heard in years. I love the album cover. The Halo and the Devil ears say a lot about what you hear in this album. It's not what you think. The Devil ears is representing a lot of how Mike came up in the drug game and things he did. There is redemption all throughout this album. I really hope that people listen to the lyrics of the songs. Zoned me completely out. I really implore people to listen to this album from beginning to end to get the total experience of the album. There are gems all over this Album. Motherless is one of my favorite songs- The combination of the lyrics and the production of the music is flawless. This Eryn Allen Kane's singing on this track is so good. I can hear the pain in her voice on this song. After the 1st listen this song literally brought me into tears (my Grandmother died recently) and I can feel the lyrics. Overall I will give this album 5 stars, 5 Mics or whatever they say nowadays. The rapping, the flow, the singing, the production straight up flawless. If this album doesn't receive a Grammy nod I'll be highly disappointed.
This was a perfect project to me. The introspection, the beats, a wild 3 stacks appeared and then Mike killed the flows from start to finish. I can’t stop listening to it.
Same here my G phenomenonal record was listening to it in the morning 3 times The soulful Production really fits the topics killer Mike was discussing.
Dope review. Glad he didn’t give us RTJ. This album sounds like Old Atlanta. Pre-Olympics Atlanta, specifically. Like some early Dungeon Family heat. Definitely at the top of my list for this year.
This was a great project. Definitely more soulful with a strong gospel vibe. Not what I was expecting conceptually but it was well executed and I know this will get a ton of replay for me. It's a stand out in Mike's solo catalog that I think will age really well
@@PutumaGqamana that’s what makes NOid so special as a producer. He see’s the big picture and how you can fill that role. I feel like he used the gospel of Aguamini and brought it to Killer Mike.
Still listening to it though reminds me of the Pledge Pledge allegiance to the grind more so his early works. Because the subject matter, topics, soulful Production & also looking at the features on here wasnt expecting BLXST, Young Thug, Mozzy, 6LACK, Eryn Allen Kane was cool to see. Absolutely killed it gonna be in heavy rotation.
As an Ohioan with deep southern roots in my elders I feel this album on so many levels!! Once again Killer Mike has shown he is one of the greatest, this project gives you introspective insight on growing up, loss and making your way in a harsh world! Pure greatness!!!!
I love this project. At first I didn't know how much replay value it had, but I've listened to it 4 times already so there goes that thought haha! After the first couple of listens, I was struck by how personal and soulful the album is and also how BLACK it is. Not many can touch Mike on the microphone, and he proved it again THOROUGHLY! Holy shit haha! So far, best album of the year for me. Anyway, great review guys.
What makes “Michael” the perfect & appropriate successor: “… Closest I've ever come to seeing or feeling God is listening to rap music. Rap music is my religion.”
Been listening to this album at work for 2 days now. It’s gotta be my 5th or 6th full listen through. No skips, fantastic production, and the lyrics are so deep that you probably won’t catch it all on the 2nd or 3rd listen even.
This album is very good. But can we talk about Killer Mike's completely all over the place political speach? He hates cops, but we shouldn't hurt them or hurt your city. He wants equality but he's homophobic. He wants help for the poor, but he's rich and that makes him better than you. Politics is a corrupt industry, but he campaigns for and brags about hanging out with politicians. The reality is that Killer Mike doesn't have that many haters. He's well respected, but when he goes on these contrived anti hater rants he tends to make the exact kinds if points that give people a good reason ro dislike him.
@@rouge939 C'mon. You can't just use the term "strawman" every time someone points out something you don't like. I'm not twisting his words. On Talkin' That Shit he says that he's richer than all his haters and that his haters are "too woke" for him and "on that brokeback shit."
@@lovelaj0149 oh no a rapper bragging about how he’s rich and making a gay joke. Such a shame that the guy named Killer Mike who raps about killing people, selling crack and burying your daughter alive said something questionable. The horror
Really good point about how vulnerable Killer Mike is on this album. Makes sense, just calling it Miachel and having it just be about who Michael is. Really in that sense a continuation of R.A.P. Music because ge goes really deep on that one too. Willie Burke Sherwood is definitely very insightful and vulnerable for instance.
I literally just heard the album, lol. Solid work, the gospel like vocals complimented the beats very well and he was hella introspective. I could say more but it just came so yeah.
This was the first Killer Mike project I've fully listened to. I have to say, I didn't know what to expect. I knew Killer Mike as the person, not the rapper. I was absolutely blown away with his energy on the mic, the production choices, the features and track placement. Everything flowed and Mike ate!
I been saying for a decade...I WANT A SOLO ALBUM FROM KILLER MIKE. i cant get wit RTJ like dat....i need 808s , bass , church organs , choir....and he DELIVERT in the 1st song lol....and throughout the whole album. This is what i been waitin on. MOTHERLESS...shit makes me cry every time, and my mama here 😂. Great album.

Why y’all think we “rushed” the album review? We never changed our process. Just means we listened to it before y’all did….
Naw this was perfect! Thanks for the review ❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾

Wish yall would have these longer review discussions more often.
Kinda figured that when I saw this uploaded already. Don't know why people would be surprised about that
They complain when there aren’t any reviews then complain when we get them ahead of time😅

This album is a treat from start to finish. 🔥🔥🔥Love the soulful, gospel, ATL vibes, definitely a favorite in 2023 so far. Enjoyed the review too.
An early review?! Hell yeah! DEHH x RTJ
Myke and Mozzy both being from Sacramento and then fitting well into an Atlanta project (DEHH, this album respectively) is a fun coincidence

That Motherless track is amazing. I can listen to it all day.

Just completed my first playthrough and my initial reaction is overwhelming positive. I'm glad he went for a more vintage Killer Mike sound here.
Been a minute since i checked yall out. Feefo is definitely enjoying married life.
Killer Mike comes from the Dungeon Family and this sounds like a DF album!
I thought so at first, but this is a NoID album. He makes rappers come out of the shell and pour themselves out.
