    Use the WP Apex Pro Shock for the KTM duke 390 sprung for your weight for the rear. It has a reservoir, is height adjustable, and has full adjustability.

    Great job on the install! I'm surprised you got away with a regular wrench on that tough to get to nut. I had to order thin wrenches to finish the job. 22mm. (luckily same day shipping from Amazon) I had the same experience as you...I wrestled with the first one quite a bit and the second one went pretty smooth. Overall, not the easiest install - I agree, intermediate level stuff.
    That's awesome that it doesn't bottom out anymore!!! Wow! I'd say this is probably a step up from just doing the springs. I can still get mine to bottom if I'm riding aggressively. I had the exact same conclusion as you after my test ride...'hmm maybe I should get a new rear shock too!' lol The rear feels spongy and has undesirable bounce to it that I don't like. Firm and plush are not how I would describe it. It's definitely setup for a smaller rider. I immediately started shopping for a new rear setup, but haven't been able to quite justify it to pull the trigger yet. Cheers man! Congrats on the upgrade. Enjoy!

      Yeah, very happy, impressed with it not bottoming out and the feel of that new setup. I think with an upgraded rear unit it will be a beast. Really happy with how this bike is turning out! Just getting more and more fun.
      I just got an email from Andreani showing they sell suspension tools, but I probably wouldn't have spent the money for a one time job. But it might be an option.

    Hyperpro will build a shock to your weight and riding style. Big difference

    Great walk through on this cartridge swap, thanks for helping me spend more money on parts. For the price, this is almost a no brainer for a purchase. Are you still bottoming out? Do you know the weight of fork oil you are running? Does this need bleeders installed?

    • @makmoto0606
      @makmoto0606  Год назад +1

      Sorry about the spending! It no longer bottoms out and I’ve had a lot of hard landings. Still need to upgrade the rear sometime. The oil was just the Ohlin oil supplied by Andreani. No need for bleeders.

  • @michiganmoto7687
    @michiganmoto7687 Год назад +2

    Did you really need to change the cartridges? The WP cartridges are pretty premium. You probably only needed to spring it to your weight and new oil?

    • @makmoto0606
      @makmoto0606  Год назад +4

      The Andreani cartridges appear to be quite different in construction and the increase in performance is noticeable. The WP on these bikes is a lower tier than what comes on some of the more expensive KTMs. The stock suspension is better than most bikes at this price but still can be upgraded if your riding is more aggressive.
      So to actually answer your question. No I didn't need to do this, but I wanted to see what kind of improvement this offered. Since I'd seen the Hyperpro improvement and wanted to try something else.

    Hy, does the kit increase the suspension travel as well?

      No, just changes springs and greatly improves performance.

    Hi. at 4:40 measure the condition of the oil with the andreani pin pulled up and without the spring. Are you sure that's a good measurement? I thought that the measurement is made with the spring inserted and inserting andreani in the bottom position

    • @makmoto0606
      @makmoto0606  Год назад

      I don’t have the instructions at hand right now. I’d have to go back and check. I was pretty careful to follow them when I did the installation. They’re working great! I’ll try to get back to you once I can get the instructions.

      The fork oil height should be measured with the spring installed. If you did not do that then the forks will be a bit softer. Also always remember to torque the triple clamp bolts to the oem spec. If you don’t and it’s too tight it will cause the forks to feel too stiff and a slight binding. Good video though.

      @@brocburman5903 Won't the fork be firmer as the spring will raise the oil level above the recommended height?...probably worked out alright in that case.

    Wow great job ❤❤❤. I have a question is it possible to use andreani fork cartridge kit for ktm 790 adventure S model in ktm 390 adventure ? Because both use 43mm wp apex but 790 has 200mm travel while 390 has 170mm of travel . Similarly rear can be modified to increase suspension travel and ground clearance . Great video ❤❤❤

      No you can't, the longer cartridge won't fit in the shorter fork tube.
