Talk about perfect timing. I was just talking to them about getting a lid for the same tank that I have. You helped answer a few questions by me seeing this video. Why not just go solid lid to cut back on evaporation. And keep the skeleton on the outer for proper gas exchange….
Sweet lids! Went with a skeletonized lid on my current tank, similar to what you have on the frag tank. IMO, it's the way to go. My previous one I had a solid border, similar to your main tank, and evaporation would always collect on the solid frame. No issue with that on the skeletonized one, the only evaporation that collects is on my eurobracing.
I teally like those lids. They aren't cheap but man, they are clean. I got rimless tanks to enjoy the sleek look. The black screens kind of take that away. I'm buying one in the near future.
Yeah I regret going with the red sea diy lid. It's definitely the most cost effective approach but has a lot of draw backs. I'll probably get a top lid eventually for the waterbox. Would like to get a little bit of use out of the red sea first.😜 thanks for the great video!
It would be great to see a video showing best techniques on how to accurately measure your tank properly to order one of these lids. Especially measuring around internal overflows or light mounts. Not to mention older tanks that these lid makers may not have templates for. Too costly to screw it up! 🔥💸🔥
@@ReefDudes Thanks for the reply ! I as referring to the fact one design has more crevices . Some of the nicest covers I've seen & Great video! Thanks . I didn't think of splashing . Another plus
Did you pay for those because wow they are expensive. Being from Canada like yourself it’s gonna cost a small fortune for a lid with shipping and import, duty fees.
So I’m confused. You pay for a rimless aquarium because it’s sleek. Then all the things that a canopy was designed to hide. And are left with a tank that is more prone to failure and looks messy. I don’t know what a solution is as canopies are outdated but there has to be a better option
Welcome to Top Lids, the “OVER promise and UNDER deliver” lid maker. In my case, their own CEO offered me, and I quote, “The entire project will be diamond polished for a “like glass” finish across the entire lid”, end quote. The lid perimeter is dull/hazy/rough……I could have ordered a lid with that finish from another provider for LESS than half the price I paid Top Lids. I gladly paid over double to get a lid that was supposed to be “like glass” finish ENTIRELY!!! 1) I asked them to make it right, they say they can’t. 2) I asked them to return the lid for a full credit, they won’t. 3) I asked them for a 50% refund so that I end up paying closer to what others charge, they offered a minimal courtesy credit, which I refused…… I have been taken!
Idk why anyone would spend this kinda money on a LID!!!! You could get an APEX at some of these crazy prices listed. I mean it lays in place and does Nothing! The aquarium hobby undoubtedly can be expensive but for a LID, no thanks. I can get polycarbonate 28”x30” piece at Lowe’s for 39.98
Went with a top lid Due to this video and cannot get my lid for the life of me ordered it in Nov all communication silent as soon as I was supposed to get a pic and was supposed to to ship . Any idea what’s going on with these guys @ Reefdudes
Try giving them a call. They took a bit tor mine but I also wanted black mesh and a bunch of stuff they didn’t currently do so mine took a while as expected

I May try thst on the office tank :)
The one with the neon colour will fade under UV and it’s not covered under warranty. Stay away from the coloured ones.
good to know! I prefer clear/sleeker anyways on my systems!
You guys got lucky mine last 2 weeks!

A big plus is no more splashed dripping down my glass!
Literally just ordered mine 2 weeks ago for my peninsula! Great looking lids and good people. Plus they are local to me so that’s a bonus.
Huge bonus! you will love it Nick!
I'm waiting on a few things from them right now so it's funny you just loaded this up.
impeccable timing! im impressed with how polished it looks! love it.
the lids are looking so GOOD!
Great looking lid.
That’s a good looking lid!
No wrasses are getting out of that.
They are safe!
"slowly de-thaw"? in the very sophisticated great state of wisconsin we say un-thaw! 😆
always love the content, keep it up!
Hehe that works too :)

Are these different then clear view lids?
Those lids are awesome
Super clean

Yea Red sea and DD jumpguards are great for the cheaper side. These are not cheap but they are pretty awesome!
I agree because I almost went the Red Sea route. I didn't like how they don't lay flat. I hate D.Y.I. sometimes you gotta just bite the bullet 🤷
Apparently they don't do black mesh currently. Bummer. :(

They are amazing customizing the lid to your tank and gear you have installed in your tank.
How much light you loose once their is condensation?
Ill part test it once its been on for a while and see :)
Look at them right now. Nice review 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Good job ! Cleaning maybe easier on one ?
Most definitely! Will prevent splashes from going down the side of the tank! didnt even think of that but another big win!

Prices are ridiculous
Yea really. some plastic and mesh cost as much as the tank. No thanks
polycarbonate isnt cheap! Can alwyas DIY cheap .. but you have to admit it does look pretty sexy!
I cant see even prices on there website its so not practicel
These lids are not for everyone. Everything in this hobby is expensive 😢. Fish, lights, pumps, etc.
Yeah but the lids are very durable
They look great. I wish we could access them also in Europe...!!

nice lids but absolutely extortionate price for a bit of plastic.

Prices are insane my DIY version works just fine and cost 20 bucks. Hard pass Devin in all honesty.
Have done many diy lids in my day too!
Everything ain't for everybody.... As we say in my profession...."Poors need not apply...."
