My late Dad and I ran a mullet boat in the 1970s and early 1980s until they changed the saltwater fishing laws, and we no longer qualified for the commercial saltwater license, we didn't make enough from it. We'd run 400 yards of seine net in a circle around a school of mullet, pull it aboard the boat in the stern deck. Best we ever did was 400 lbs of fish in one day. Numbers dwindlef as many fishermen fished the rivers illegally with too small a net, catching younger fish. At the end we'd be lucky to catch enough to pay for the gas.

Florida used to have spring resorts, and the rich would bathe in their healing waters. There may still be a few around somewhere.

I have been kayaking on Florida rivers 8 years. No gator attacks. They are reclusive. I even try to get close and submerge away. However, mating season is a different story. But still safe if you don't mess with them or feed them.

It’s so beautiful & a different environment in Florida compared to the Midwest where I live, for sure. 🌴 Thanks for sharing your day! I could tell how hot & humid it was getting by the look on your face. 😅
That kinda weird word on the sign about the kayak rentals, “Sundries” (sun-dreeez) is an old english word to describe things that are grouped together. It would’ve been less confusing if they just said “miscellaneous” instead.😊

This small state park is right off of a very congested highway 19. The area is located on the Gulf. So no gators here. Thos is the Port Richey area. Green Key worth a visit. Only a few miles away
I live near here not many people visit. Good video of the park.

That's a nice place to take a hike. No on the campground near it, too much. I wouldn't be scared to kayak in FL. I think I would be more concerned about moccasin snakes. Alligators don't normally mess with you. Just have to pay attention, early morning, and evening they are out. If they get scared, they may come after you. If you're not too smart and try to feed them, you might have a problem. Ppl with dogs need to keep an eye out. They mostly move out of your way. If you have any trouble in a boat with one (rare) hit it with your paddle. Common sense stuff. 🙂👍

The only time I ever pay that much money for an RV spot anywhere is if we are at say a National Park or something where you really have no choice if you want to stay anywhere near the area....Am really big on the Corp of Engineer parks as they usually have most of the amenities available like electric, water, dump station, showers, and more often than not around a body of water or scenic area....But the best part about them is the price...Avg $20-$35 a nite but if you have the America the Beautiful pass its even half off that...Gotta love them $10-$15 a nite prices for everything except maybe cable or wifi ...Combine these parks with Cracker Barrels, Casinos, and in a pinch Walmart, you can travel cross country relatively cheap staying wise...Alot of really nice COE campgrounds heading west from Florida in Geogia and Texas.....Gas, another story....All travel safe and stay well....
