Holy shit. This is scary. I just got into playing Connect 4 with my friends and now RUclips suddenly recommends me a Connect 4 video the first time. I never researched anything about Connect 4 or played it online. What the fuck?
It should be noted that while this game is completely solved by computer analysis, the computer could not detect much in the way of strategy to guaranty a win. There are suggestions, certainly, but nothing to guaranty a win for one side or the other unless you have access to the database of every possible game.
There was a paper on connect 4 which described tons of tactics (Download link) www.informatik.uni-trier.de/~fernau/DSL0607/Masterthesis-Viergewinnt.pdf
NoName Was that based on the recent solving of Connect 4? Last I heard on the state of it (and I haven't read that paper) there were tactics and strategies that are helpful, but no optimum winning strategy like you see in games like Nim and Tic Tac Toe. Rather it is more like chess, except with a small enough space of possible moves that current computers can now check them all to find he best option.
Sam There was a paper from Massachusetts that just brute forced with supercomputer And this one is with normal PC, by using a lot of strategies to cut early
When playing this game it's always good to create 2 pathways just in case your opponent block you and you can go the other way and win. It's not easy I play against the CPU so I like to be challenged.
How to beat that strategy is not through keep playing the center collumn. It is keeping to the same strategy until the opponent has two in a row: then you dont block, but keep building your own row
@@L_Ph0ng Yeah. I just tried this online and I lose because I try it. I focus on pulling it off so the other dude just farms me. Connect 4 is seriously the dumbest game to try to get good at yet there are people out here who grind connect 4. I don't understand.
@@MrBubbyG_Official youre just a fool if you seriously think a single trick qualified being good at the game. Grow up and learn from your mistakes instead of concluding that "those grapes were sour anyways."
If this happens, I would recommend holding off on putting any pieces on the right side. Hopefully the opponent will drop a piece one over from the very right lane giving you the 7 formation. If he doesn't do this and continues to play the very right lane, just make sure to drop one of your pieces in that lane so that you are one away from four in a row three rows up and one column over from the right. If the opponent doesn't play the right side at all, just play smart and try not to give him any opportunities on the left side/middle. You will eventually win on the right side. Hopefully this makes sense! It's kind of hard to type out an explanation, let me know if you have any other questions. :)
if the Board reads 1 - 7 Left to Right 1:10 ... if Yellow goes first: 4, 3, 4, 4, 5, 4, 5, 6 or 7, 5, 5 is game. 1:53 the correct move is Slot 5. 2:44 Slot 7 is the correct move.
best tactic what I've noticed is to always put coins on the second bottom row when possible, eventually few columns will be completely empty. usually no matter what opponent does in the end you'll usually get 4 in a row in the second row by forcing the opponent to put one coin in to the bottom row
I'm on a mission to learning how to always win multiple board games so I can dominate my friends and then they'll get mad at me for ruining casual fun games.
Lol i just tried it for the first time and me opponent did every same move as seen in the video ! it must be some psycological logic happening in everbodies minds
The comments here have no idea what they are talking about. I just went there and it is real people playing you. He did say he saw a lot of people fall for this trick. Too bad for me cuz it did not work for me. :(

what if you don’t go first...
you lose
Find a niche opening and learn it thoroughly. Hopefully your opponent will make a mistake and you can take advantage of it :P

Sam Pretty sure they can. If computers can do it in chess they can do it in connect 4 no problem

This literally works about 1% of the time, everybody counters it.

what if when you do the fake diagonal connect 4 he blocks on the very right lane

I am already a legend at connect four but I need the tips

I haven’t played connect four in two years, it’s 2:08 am, and I have Spanish classes tomorrow,. Help me.
Dos fresas en el culo, I think
Watches this in the middle of a torment
what site do you use to play against online players?
Most recently I've been using c4arena.com if I'm on my computer and the app "4 in a row" if I'm on my phone.
Papergames.io
Fantastic video! Thanks for taking the time Keith. Cheers Oliver
It’s 7 am. I haven’t slept. I don’t even play connect 4
When u are playing and they go side, diagnose or upwards wait for them to get their 3 in a row so you don’t waste turns
What app are you using
What's the name of the online game
How do you win as player 2
Where do you play connect 4?
Cool video man :)
Thank you for the great tips👍
it works but with some people they dont start with putting theyre coin over mine in the center and i basically lose
just put your coin over their coin, then they will play center and just continue with that (assuming they put it next to the center)
best tactic what I've noticed is to always put coins on the second bottom row when possible, eventually few columns will be completely empty. usually no matter what opponent does in the end you'll usually get 4 in a row in the second row by forcing the opponent to put one coin in to the bottom row
Then git gud
Great work
The first one is possible if the opponent doesnt know the rules, the way to win or the name of the game
-I fell asleep while watching this-
What if your opponent goes first?
My Dad is super super expert on this game...I only won him once but it was because he underestimated me
What connect 4 engine is this?

Me subscribed for really nice work
Its working now im on a championship in our school
teh correct answer in connect four is to always play the right column and block
I knew the first method but not the others
Best trick ever bro i’m gonna be rinad
How do people fall for this? I would easily find a way around this strategy
But if you played in the center, I will play to the right of that...
BookTardis394 bad idea. You will just give him diagonal advantage
the double duo judy and rinad keeps beating me :(
later...
HOLY THANK YOU THEY LOST MANY TIMES
