In the Valley of the Moon follows a young man working as a hitman for the Italian mob in 1977. He takes a job in Petaluma, California, posing as a potential buyer at an open house to confront the realtor, who he suspects has a sinister connection to his past.
During our festival run, we were accepted into multiple Oscar Qualifying film festivals, with a total of 14 Festivals from Los Angeles all the way to New York City. In total, we garnered over 20 nominations and 23 awards, some including:

Back about year later, the shots in this short film are sub par. Not the best, it captures one thing at a time, shots should have multiple things happening at once unless it’s an insert. And the dialogue is boring and almost predictable. People are praising the “what do you shoot?” Dialogue exchange, but it isn’t actually good because it accomplishes nothing for the story and we learn nothing new about the characters either. What I have noted is what all dialogue conversations should strive for. One last thing about the dialogue is that it seems to go like this “question?” “Answer” “question?” “Answer” too predictable. Dialogue should be more interesting than this. Give the audience 2+2. Never 4.
I'm really excited to watch this film. I've seen clips on tiktok and it's and understatement to say I'm impressed. I'm sure it won't dissapoint

Also, the music- wow! Overall a beautiful short film. Can't wait to see more of you (and definitely Ray Fritz too).

I’m so glad that this art from doesn’t always require big Hollywood budgets and fancy effects. I’m looking to pursue filmmaking of some sort after high school, and seeing projects like this is what keeps me going. Everyone did a fantastic job! Luca Pizzoleo is inspiring!

Damn, this is the most enjoyable short film I have seen. Aside from the talented filmmaking and well crafted storytelling; the set designs, props, and filming locations are all presented beautifully and will not go unrecognized. Hopefully this pays off for you! Good luck.

Usually short films don't really hold my attention, but this one was very enjoyable! Raz Fritz has real potential, I'm excited to see what he'll do with his career in the future.
Other than the ads appearing at the most tense moments, this film was great!

This is such an excellent film. Not only are the story and cinematography great, but so is the production design. The 1970s is a look that’s easy to get wrong, purely because of how unique it is, but everything from the costuming, to the mise-en-scene in this film was superb.

Well done. Costumes, music, settings, spot on 70's. Acting was very good as well. Unfortunate for David, the second guy showed up for the open house. Too bad for Tom, letting his desire for revenge to stretch out too long. Frank warned him about that. Tom should have taken the advice and had Sam go with him. Apparently Frank knew Mark pretty well. Nice, slick film.
Gripping lil film. Great script, acting and directing. I lived in Penngrove just outside of Petaluma in 1977. Thought it was a quiet little town---we went out and watched chickens laying eggs on Saturday night on account of Petaluma touting itself as the egg capital of the world. Also appreciate the attention to detail--the polyester leisure suit the realtor wore and the architecture of the house.

I always a huge fan of mob and betrayed styled of story, and this become one of my favorites. The shot, characters, plot,and everything in this short movie is solid, complex, and beautifull. Hats off to you guys for making this✌

This is one of the highest quality short films I’ve seen. The visuals, the audio, the actors, the dialogue were all amazing. The story was nothing to go crazy over but for a short films it was definitely good enough to keep me watching to the end. Very nice work.

I legit forgot I was watching a short film for a couple of reasons:
1) The cinematography feels like Quentin Tarantino, it doesn't feel like what a short film usually looks like.
2) Color grading - I can't get anywhere close to how beautiful this short film looked. It's stunning, breathe taking, gorgeous to just look at
3) The acting - everybody felt natural and the suspense was real
4) The editing - Don't even get me started on that. Luca is a whole different breed for putting so much effort in a short film
Overall - What a beautiful short film to watch. I would love to be part of the crew in any possible way but I'm a college kid lol. Still, what a fucking beauty

My only view into this world is through Hollywood, but I find it incredible that a (presumably) experienced killer would jump out of hiding and shoot without knowing who he's shooting. He knows there are more than one person present.

Great production design, good acting, well shot, though I am confused:
Why would Tommy's partner not take his keys out of the car when he goes to call the boss? Especially when he's willing to kill him over it? why did he kill him?
Why did the boss hire Tommy to do the job if he doesn't want someone who gets their emotions involved, he's the guy who put his father in prison, of course his emotions will. Why take the risk? Just hire literally anyone else.
They both felt forced and Tommy being shot by his partner also does. Still very nice though.

color grading is gorgeous, acting is solid, music is good and story is entertaining. really great stuff. i also respect the fading transitions in the intro as a nod to vintage editing styles. loved this!
Production and acting is great. For me, I thought the intimidation scene was too unrealistic. The ending is okay, but there is not really a message or soemthing like that. That aside I think that you guys made a stunning short film. The main characters face expressions reminded me of the homelander. Good job guys keep pursuing your dream!
Tbh, i think the acting is great and you all convey the emotion needed. To me it's just the cinematography and editing that really needs to be worked on to help carry the story. As a music and sound designer (by profession) you've done really good work, but the mix or mastering could be toned down a little bit, especially at the end. Overall though I'd watch a feature if you made it for sure. Great work! :)

I LOVE FILMAKING and just wanted to ask u, since i mostly cast my family or brother, how do I get myself out there, like go public.
Honestly just keep making films, post them online and submit them to festivals. Eventually you should branch out and work with other actors and crew but for the time being you’re doing the best thing you can which is shooting movies. Good luck and thank you for the support!

wow. absolutely the best short film I've seen to date. Incredible production value. The storytelling was crafted perfectly. The cinematography was beautiful. And the framing of particular shots were inspirational to say the least.

Just finished watching it! Genuinely everything about this was sooo good, the talent is amazing so is the writing, acting, and especially the cinematography shots!!
Loved the atmosphere this brung, reminded me of the cinematography of Goodfellas and it's extremely quotable. The writing besides that is okay, I liked the snappy-ness of it and the climax was bristling with this coiling tension. As a short film, this is pretty good.
