Truly EPiC. Their skills are second to none. Add in those moving lyrics and this performance deserves to be recognized in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame!
Yes! Orchestra good!. 6 string Bass and 7 string Guitar. This was done with the students from Berkley school of music in Boston. It was their choir and Orchestra. The funny thing it, John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy, and John Myung went to Berkeley, and that's where John and John met Mike. These guys are the best of the best, no doubt.
What an amazing experience! You can’t categorize this as anything other than a masterpiece from the music to the background story of the orchestra to the lyrics.
My favorite Dream Theater song to date! A lot of their lyrics use storytelling to portray the human condition. A lot of it tackles heavy stuff like mental illness and dealing with the suffering of life, but there are some songs that just tell cool fictional fantasy stories, such as the Ministry of Lost Souls, which is about a girl who almost drowns when she's young. A man saves her life but dies in the process, and she spends her whole life not really living, just suffering knowing what happened to him, and she calls out to his soul saying she doesn't want to live any more, so he takes her life. That's freaking metal haha!
You should definitely check out some more epics from them, A Nightmare to Remember is a really good one, Breaking All Illusions has my favorite solo of all time and A Change of Seasons is their best song in my opinion. They have some great instrumentals too, like Stream of Consciousness that has riffs after riffs after riffs.
"In the presence of enemies" has some nice concert recordings. But for a live video showing all of them at work pulling tons of crazy instrumentation from lots of their songs that would be Instrumedle, Pls react to this before any other live versions. That was DT at their peak

pluss mike mangini was a professor there for ten years before he joined DT
NO, no auto tune, this is real. Just Dream Theater doing what they do best.
Most likely my favorite song by them. Too bad some fans don't appreciate this album and this track. Thanks for the reaction!
Yeah, It seems silly to me not to like it because there are more talented musicians playing with the band.
16:01 John Petrucci's wah solo makes me lose my mind every time. It's so freakin good

Wow, that is a crazy story!
Amazing song. If you play guitar and have 7 string, I recommend learning it. It will take time but it's really fun to play and learn.
On the same concert : Shattered Fortress or Breaking all illusions. Or Enigma Machine (with an epic drum solo) !
Awesome, Thanks Christophe!

I absolutely will Anthony, much more to come. Thanks for hanging out here.
Speaking of epic songs don’t forget about the count of Tuscany
