    20 minutes braiding once a month to wash is better than the hour daily styling. The point of locs to not mess with it so much so it can actually loc in place. Personally I keep my hands out of my hair until washing and retwisting. I spray lavender water and caster oil but I dont touch it.

      A hour a day to style is a lot. I stayed with a protective style before locs lol I do use Jamaican Black Castor Oil though. I never tried lavender water I bet that smells great!

      @@Shanaecarter its just pure lavender essential oils that i pour into water. If I’m being really fancy then I boil fresh lavender plant in a pot of water and let it cool.

      Hey! Thanks for watching! It definitely is a struggle! My loc-tician told me about Apple Cider Vinegar to help remove build up. I have tried it maybe 2 times idk if I can tell if it's helping much 😅

      Welcome to the loc gang girl! I love that idea cause once you wash the locs they dry and shrinks up vs twisting our locs so they can dry stretched out for a longer effect. I haven't tried twisting after a wash but I'm definitely gonna try on my next wash!

    Hi I am currently watching your video and I heard you said something about build up and Lent so I wanted to leave a comment to let you know about the Damien Walters lock wash I use it in my hair I've been locked with traditional locks for 2 years now and I haven't had none of these issues you should also invest and Design Essentials oat protein and henna is a really good shampoo for removal of anything in your locks it is also something that I've been using since I've been locked

    It's been almost 2 weeks since I started my microlocs and I'm literally thinking of how to wash my hair. I work out pretty much every day so wash day is coming soon, but I'm scared to wash them because I don't wanna mess anything up lol. Mine are about 4 inches too, so I'm like how am I gonna braid them when they're so short 😅

    • @Shanaecarter
      @Shanaecarter  Год назад +1

      Hey girl! You can two strand twist them down and rubber band them down. I do that method I think it's faster for me. But after a while I just wash my hair as is. No twist or braids before hand and the results are still good. Not much bunching if you were concerned for that. You may be just fine if you just wash it hun don't over think it if you wanna wash your hair wash it! 😉
