With the surface detail, customization potential, and aritculation these are an awesome value imo. Would be a great exercise for airbrushing/handpainting.
The thing on the back of Giza I think that's a repair backpack. In the game you can equip you Wanzer with this kind of backpack and repair friendly units.
Ah, I think I've found my medium frames for the Gamma Wolves game. Thanks, figured I'd find something to suit if I poked around youtube a bit. More of a miniatures gamer than a pure modeler/gunpla guy. Funny to hear ~$20 apiece described as "a little bit expensive" when you're numbed by Games Workshop's prices. :)
For this small kit, it looks very detailed with good articulation. and it's nice they keep the essences of the game where we can swap parts and weapon around on these kits. also to answer your question about flying and jumping in the game. At least until the 3rd installment, there is no flying. granted there are parts in the game you get airdropped with additional parts/units but it's very rarely happen. As for jumping, the wanzers can jump quite high but not sure how high in official spec (we can boost our jump height with upgrades in game so...)
Front mission 4 had jetpacks. Front mission 5 had a flying wanzer but it was only for cinematics at the end of the game. There are hover-type legs, but most wanzers are geared for ground warfare. Flying enemies are mostly helicopters. This is a great set for sure. Wish they were bigger, huhu.
9:30 knuckle duster, its to punch another wanzer This series doesn't have swords, mostly, so punching & jabbing with pile bunker is the melee alternative
@@evoltblackhole8677 Nine-Ball from the original Armored Core, it reappears as an Arena Opponent about half of the series, even on PS2. Named as a reference to 9-Ball Pool games.
The Zenith is considered an all-rounder "protagonist" wanzer, hence the FMP M-9 Gernsback styled head design. Has very good armor & mobility for front line range & melee combat. The Giza's backpack, those aren't weapons. They are actually repair arms that are used to repair damage & restore broken limbs on allied units. The Giza was developed as a repair/support wanzer after all. The alternative head is actually based on its upgraded version called the Bes. The Drake is a long-ranged artillery unit, though it can still function in frontline combat despite its less-than-ideal mobility. Introduced in Front Mission 3 & infamously piloted by one of the main heroines of that game, it hasn't shown up in any other game in the series besides Front Mission Online for some reason. The Numsekar is primarily a frontline balls-to-walls melee wanzer, as the amount of melee weapons included in its kit is evident. It can still function as a ranged combat wanzer but due to the extra armor on its arms, there will be an accuracy penalty when the unit is equipped with guns. Oh & its alternate heads are based on upgraded deviations of the machine called the Enforcer & the Mungoss(the one with the 2 camera lenses on the side). Side note: the shotgun included with the Giza is easily recognizable to fans of the series as the Catsray XX, a longer ranged than usual & accurate shotgun.
this set is for the protagonist. zenith is assault & melee type giza is repair/mechanic drake is the shoulder weapons type missile/grenades/rockets the last one is an special type the backpack is emp.
A quick note about there being only two hole caps per kit: This could be 'true to lore.' Wanzers all have at least four hole connectors, one per forearm and one per shoulder, as part of their standardized connectors. It could be expected that unused connector ports will remain visible; the two hole caps are probably meant for the backpacks in particular.
Judging from the instructions you showed in your last video of these, it looks like they may be planning on releasing a second set with an Enyo, a Walrus, a Tiran, and a Blizzia.
Oh, that's not just a Blizzaia. It's actually a Frost, with the inclusion of a Blizzaia head. Hell, they actually released a special edition set based on all of the Frost units used by the infamous elite boss team from the 1st game, Hell's Wall.
Ah, nice. the body parts are interchangeable just like in the games(Usually the torso, left arm, right arm, legs and a backpack like Giza's Repair BP). Surprised they didn't include the Frost in the set. They probably might include it in a 2nd Structure Arts set if SE actually gets to that. Still, love how the Zenith looks. I hope there are variants of these wanzers in the future if this line really takes off. EDIT: Damn, it's smaller than a 1/144 Gunpla, yet the articulation of the arms alone is as good as it gets. 20:32 the wanzers usually just roller-dash to move around faster. Limited flying comes via a jetpack(although there are flight-based units but not as many), but usually they are airdropped via air transport chopper.
I find it baffling that Square Enix didn't create their own tabletop RPG based around the Front Misson series and around these 1/72 scale model kit figures. They're about the right size for it.
Was really hoping you'd get the Xenogears one. I mean I'm getting them no matter what. But would have loved your thoughts. Ah well. These are neat but a bit on the small side..maybe if get some extra funds and want to try something new!
So looking at the kits during this review. They're not that bad design wise, but the same cannot be said for about half the weapons. I don't know what the designs were pulled from, but they could use some work. All in all, the Wanzers don't look bad, but I would much rather 3D print some of the FM4 weapons (the only game I'm familiar with) and personally, I'd rather they'd've dialed it back on the amount of random surface detail, since there's a lot going on, but they're manageable. Hoping to see more iconic classics in the future, such as the Gust 500, and stork sets
i thought i was considering this but their size are not my liking, zaku do you have any recomendation for kit that isnt gundam but a very bulky one like this? the newest armored core trailer didnt help me either, i want something bulky and big. i also saw your review on metal gear rex is that a good option?
Look at the Leynos kits from PLUM. It’s a small company so they’re a bit expensive but if you want a similar kind of design to these but larger kits I think those would be a good option

The trade art figures are not to scale (they are a bit smaller than 1/72 scale ) and from slightly soft plastic kinda like those sd gundam capsule toys. 0:56 Hehe Very front mission like I spent many hours in game switching weapons in the game and parts when I played FM3 on ps1 To this day many fans have been hoping for a new main FM game since it stopped at 5
Hard to say. Squeenix messed up not just with Evolved but again with Left Alive which seemed to be an unfinished release. However they've started up studios dedicated to classic games and started making new IPs as loveletters to classic Final Fantasy. Now it seems they're working on a Final Fantasy successor. So maybe seeing how successful their classic fantasy reboots are doing, they could consider that Front Mission would be worth rebooting as a SRPG/TRPG again.
The sad part is I waited for any of my usual pla youtubers to review this so I can basically see the product before making the purchase, but now it's discontinued (for now at least).
The rerelease set is up for preorder. The bonus weapon is not included though since it was only for the first run. Hobby search has them and maybe a few other places like hlj
Similar in price to the new Artifact set, but definitely look like more enjoyable kits overall. Super hard to find in the US, maybe USAGS will get some in?
Man I wish square brings back the front mission series and make it a strategy game the whole series went downhill when they made evolve and made it a 3rd person shooter
TheVgrey There are several Wanzers that really had a sword (Unfortunately, they only served as enemy units in Front Mission 5, including the final boss)
With how long Front Mission's been around(published 95), I think it's safe to say FMP(98 for light novels) looks like Front Mission...
the backpack on giza actually repair backpack where it will popout mechanical arm to fix other wanzer.
I was gonna say that too. It’s not cannon
The "punching" weapons are literally just like giant brass knuckles.
With the surface detail, customization potential, and aritculation these are an awesome value imo. Would be a great exercise for airbrushing/handpainting.

The thing on the back of Giza I think that's a repair backpack. In the game you can equip you Wanzer with this kind of backpack and repair friendly units.
I hope they will release the Avenir and Crabesant in the future... These wanzers are suitable for their role..

Quite sure Front mission 2 and the online one have sword as weapon. And later version there is mace that handle like sword
There is a sword weapon, keen saber. It is considered as a rod weapon in game though, same as the mace.
There is sword in front mission 5 but treated like a rod type melee.
13:30 That's a very scifi-ed german MG42.
20:28 Now I see where they got their inspiration for the Halo Reach shotgun design.
They look like mini Armored Cores! So adorable!
I remember fighting 9 balls I think..any idea what armored it is? From ps1

Wanzers from Front Mission also have that modular customization system Armored Core has so they do share a lot of similarities lol

Can be a good collab with mega Construx sets.. an unmanned control mech 👍
well in the games the Wanzers can jump onto roof tops of buildings by either using just their legs or aided by a "jump jet".
I notice some of the in game parts that have been in quite a few of the games
Can the weapons be used by gunpla kits? And are those holes 3mm? @ZakuAurelius
Ah yes, Front Mission 3 or as I would like to call it "chess robot game", with laser as my main character weapon
