A promise Mai held onto like a lifeline and then Mai was forced to become something she never wanted to be and face things she’s always been terrified of. I love that Nobara just doesn’t give a crap about any of the gender politics. She doesn’t even really engage with what Momo is saying until she starts cursing Itadori. Then she’s like “ok fine, you wanna talk some real shit, let’s go. I’ll kick your ass while I’m at it.” We love a character that knows who they are, man.

So theres a little trickery with the grade system which is why the girls are lower on average, because its on a recommendation system. The zeni'in girls are specifically disparaged by the big clan and nobaras an unknown from the countryside, so the only ones who're being portrayed accurately there is broom girl and miwa whos ranked average
Nishimiya's point was not that men are naturally stronger, but that for women sorcerer's being strong (powerful, not just phjysically) is not enough, and you can see it on Maki who could easily be 2nd grade but it's kept on the bottom.
A character is in season two that also has the same "condition" as maki. They lose all curse energy in exchange for superhuman physic. That character is also from the zenin clan showing the clan has a history of people being born that way and them being rejected because of it. Whenever Gojo talks shit about the leaders of jujutsu sorcery the heads of the three clans are a big part of it.

That feels wrong because of Todo. Todo's first grade, and their plan was to leave someone behind to distract him because they didn't feel like anyone in their team could win against him. If Maki was way stronger than even 1st grades, they wouldn't have been talking about beating Todo as if it were a pipe dream. She's probably more like semi-first grade, or possibly low first grade since Todo's pretty high in his class. Somewhere between first grade Todo and second grade Megumi.

Actually, Panda had it hovering between 3 and 2, but it pushed Mechamaru up to between 2 and 1, so he was a whole level off.
