Im still using my eleksmaker laser. Noticed it uses 2 stepper motors to drive the y axis compared to this sculpfun which has the one stepper motor and the long shaft to the other side. Considering recreating this on mine and reusing that extra stepper for a z axis or possibly rotary attachment! Also 3d printing an air assist that uses a small aquarium pump!
Thanks so much for providing these test files. I've been struggling to find a great resource for settings for my Two Trees 5 watt laser. I just didn't know where to start or what to expect.
I cut 5mm plywood 2 passes, using air assist, with very smooth edges, and very little burn marks on the back side, top side, has no burn marks whatsoever.
Very nice video. Really appreciate a channel with a solid interest in affordable lasers. It seems that this will be the year when actually usable diod lasers for cutting arrive. Looking forward to seeing more reviews, especially the Atomstack P7 and A10 which makes bold claims to both high output and small dot size.
As a UK viewer a quick mention of both the mains power ,ie is there a 115/240 switch or a auto power supply and if its a built-in plug would be of some help. Thanks for reviews keep it up.
Cool video, thanks. Just a quick question if I may - between the S9, S30 Pro Max and the S30 Ultra which one would be a better pick considering that the budget is somewhat flexible? It is for some general purpose cutting ( Balsa, Plywood, Acrylic etc. ) and less of engraving. I am somewhat inclined towards the S30 Pro Max with the 20W Laser Module.
Hey. Downloaded the cutting test file but yet to run it. Just looking over the layers I can’t see how you’ve set the 10%,20%,30% etc for each speed. They show as 100 for each square on the layers. What am I missing ? New to lightburn so assume it’s overwritten somewhere ? Thanks!
Hi! Great review, thanks for sharing. I'm considering buying a Sculpfun S9, but I'm concerned about its long-term durability. Since your video was made a while ago, could you please share your experience regarding its performance over time? Has it held up well, and have you encountered any significant issues? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi i want to buy this to wood cut its good or bad ? Because i don’t have enough money to change this machine if its bad if you tell me i appreciate that thanks 🙏 ❤
I liked your video. One thing I would very much like to know, what is the highest "true power" LASER head can the S9 safely handle (say DC current of 5 to 6 Amperes) and still use the existing controller and existing wiring with the exception of the external power supply due to the increased current requirements? The controller PCB is is marked as rates for 12/24 volt input.
Thanks for the review. I am torn between this and the Aufero 2 with the LF laser unit. Looking to do a mixture of engraving and cutting, nothing more than 3mm thick. If you have to choose, which would you go for?
So I probably missed it but what laser do you recommend the closet to cutting and engraving in this category? I know they can’t cut threw lot but just one that can least cut and good engraving
So I have watched a few of the videos now and seems like there are a lot of decent options, but in your experiance of using them what would be your go to for best all around quality value etc?
How would this do a cutting inch thick foam? I want to make inserts for some toolboxes to lay tools out neatly and have thought about using something like this to do it
Bro I want to buy this machine but got a question! Is is possible to run it without the laser? I want to use it for ''another'' project. I want to move this thing to certain location with my own code is that possible? Please help me answer this question.
Maybe you can help me I need to be able to cut phenolic plastics or at least three 8th inch Baltic Birch plywood. What machine should I look at I'm sure you're gonna say CO2 but I don't know any of the companies what would you look at to buy?. The lowest I'm willing to go is quarter inch and I could laminate to hit my sickness desired
I have the Sculpfun S9 and I downloaded and printed the test file but when I print it starts printing very dark box and not a regular line as you showed. I sent you a email with picture of the print
I have a sculpfun s9 450x900 extend version,3D prinding benchmark and serice engineer with Cad Cam design trainng. (Making 3D parts from sketch or technical dwg. Provided with BOM if not) and i still dont understand! Hard wood, not doing it for me! Regular wood? The fibers are going to burn and the contrast and shades are off. Recomandation! Flat soft wood,No fibres! Even! For portrait and face, use jarvis settings in Lightburn for good shades in Peisaje!
Hoping you can help. Only have budget for 5w engraver and can’t figure out my best option out of these 3 units to be able to add accessories or upgrade later: atomstack a5 m50 pro, x tool d1 pro or sculpting s9 for my woodworking business. Watched too many reviews and I’m overloaded at this point, any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
thank you for this review. Do you think it will be possible to expand the machine to 140cm by changing the frame and belt ? Is there a limit to the size other than the physical size of the frame ?
Hey Brandon, hope all is well, did you say this has limit switches? Really nice to know and decideding factor in purchasing this machine, bangood has it for $299 atm and I think that's a steal especially if it has limit switches. Thanks for all the great videos.
@@KatanaPL thanks, that's great to know, where can I find them,? I have 2 atomstack a5 pro and pro + that I'd love to get some for them. How much trouble is it for hooking them up?

I honestly don't understand why you would want to cut through thick plywood on so many passes at 100% power, not unless you have deep pockets!. Diode lasers, although they can accomplish it will burn out in no time. Monies wasted there replacing the diode lasers over time could have been used on a decent 60-100w CO2 laser which can at a lower percentage output, put up with the abuse.

I would be happier if you talked about Acrylic and ABS type plastics too. Anyway thanks fir the video

I also want to know that
Loogs great. Would the standard setup handle a Life Tree 40W power wise? (5mm acrylic and MDF planned)

Which honeycomb panel did you use in this video ? It seems to fit the Sulpfun S9 perfectly ?
How does the S9 stand up to cutting Basswood for miniature buildings?
Hi! I wanted to download the file, but unfortunately it doesn't work. I press download but nothing happens.

can you remove rust with one of these?
How small the character this machine can engrave? Can it engrave 9pt characters?

Could this cut .01cm aluminum? I know you said no metal. But hopefully that's thin enough? Thanks.
It won't even be able to mark metal. For actual cutting you'll need a really high power CO2 machine.
