    Sir, I’m a first-year ECE student at a Tier 3 government college (among the top 10 in Central India). I want guidance on how to study topics like Architecture, IC Design, and Fabrication for VLSI IC chip manufacturing. I know you covered this for M.Tech students, but I’d appreciate any suggestions for first-year students...
    Once I finalize my interests, what skills should I develop? What projects should I work on, and how can I prepare for off-campus placements? There are no companies coming to my college for campus placements in this field, so your insights and a roadmap would be extremely helpful. If you could make a video on this topic, it would greatly benefit students in my situation. Thank you!

    I got electronic (vlsi designing) in makaut .which is a state government engineer college nirf 101/150 , most of the private and government engineer college in west bengal (arround 70%) engineering colleges are under makaut, previous year more than 90% students got placement,but in IT/cse branch. Because electronic vlsi designing is new in this year ....... my main question is , 😅 that is this a good decision or bad .....and can i get it placement with this branch.......and if i want it placement what skills i should study.....and if i want to do gate then then which papre i should choose cse/ece ....... Waiting for your kind reply

      1. VLSI is certainly very good branch but you have really work hard and complete all core subjects.
      2. GATE ece would be better.
      3. I had made one video titled vlsi job preparation in 2024. This would uncover the details. Your graduation would get completed by 2028, and I would keep updating preparation requirements by doing videos every year if there is any change.

      I guess the video has explained both branches clearly.
      ECE would give you flexibility to choose any of the sub electronics domain in future while ECE (VLSI) would be focused on vlsi only.
      So, If you are damn sure to go for Chip design then ECE (VLSI) else ECE to get the doors on for any sub-domain based on your interest in Btech final year.

    What level of coding is used vlsi course? is that coding knowledge enough to get into it/software job?

    • @Singh-Rajveer
      @Singh-Rajveer  3 месяца назад +2

      VLSI has HDL coding. Syntax of C and Verilog is similar but the feel is completely different.
      CSE guys write code to solve the problem.
      While HDL coding tells which hardware will actually solve the problem. Because eventually everything is on to silicon.
      So, Syntax knowledge and problem solving skills would work for both job types but feel is different. Anyone wishing to switch between these domains would surely require serious efforts.

    What about OVM and UVM as well as STA?

    • @Singh-Rajveer
      @Singh-Rajveer  Год назад +2

      Respect to your opinion but I feel NPTEL is not useless. It requires patience.
      Control System basics would help for Analog side vlsi.
      VLSI physical design complete course is not required for front end jobs but sometimes they ask simple simple questions in front end interviews as well. Also they may help to score good in company's test.
      So, An overall idea is required and for that one should atleast understand terms like placement, floorplanning etc .....

    Also can VLSI engineer get similar placements compared to ECE(especially non core)?

    • @Singh-Rajveer
      @Singh-Rajveer  3 месяца назад

      VLSI is the sub-domain of ECE, We can't discuss them as completely separate entity.
      Whatever VLSI can get you....ECE can also as it's subset of ECE

    • @Singh-Rajveer
      @Singh-Rajveer  3 месяца назад +1

      You will be restricted to VLSI Domain jobs if you read academics only as VLSI B.Tech branch is a sub set of ECE.
      However, if you wish to explore and learn then you can go related domains like Embedded, IoT etc while doing B.Tech in VLSI.
      Hard or Easy is not an absolute term.
      For me, Communication/ Signal processing is very tough as I don't like that.
      While for someone VLSI can be very tough. So, I feel hard/ tough depends on individual.

      This is the new branch and first batch yet to be graduated.
      ECE vlsi is kinda subset of core electronics and VLSI requires coding knowledge as well. You would get to know about Computer Architecture as well so I feel there would be no reason for CSE / IT related jobs to not allow ece (vlsi) students.
      You may study web development/ software / other required skills and can get selected in those roles as well

      Honestly speaking, I am listening name of IIIT UNA first time so I don't have any idea about this college.
      NIT KKR is good and old college. Also vlsi is very good branch and NIT KKR reputation would surely make it better than IIIT UNA.
      But, If you have any contacts then kindly take review of UNA before finalizing the decision.
