Fun fact! Stormfish species are biome-based, with the Shadow being simply a rare one. This means that you are guaranteed to find Shadow Stormfish at the Sea Dog’s Tavern, as it technically isn’t in any of the biomes. Also, the Shadow Stormfish isn’t the rarest one. That goes to the Blackcloud Wrecker, which needs to be caught at a shipwreck, while in a storm!
@@Flameziinn Blackcloud wreckers aren't actually that rare. The problem is that you have to collect 50 of them unlike other rares. I have gotten 18 blackcloud wreckers in one session as a sloop.
This 8 minutes might have been a lot shorter than the actual session, but I could feel the grind it must have been. The grind might never stop but sometimes you wish it did
The best place to fish for shadow stormfish is by the Sea Dogs hideout. It's technically not in any of the regions so the only stormfish that will pop up there during the day is the shadow stormfish. Your ship won't take any damage from the waves because you're by the island and the lightning seems (anecdotally) less frequent. Also if you're in a sloop, fish out the back from the map table room to avoid the lightning. Also if you try the Sea Dog's tavern trick, it will seem like it's all splashtails, but be patient.

Hey Cliff. As someone who is trying to get the, “Legendary Hunting of the Sea of Thieves Title” I can say that the rarest fish in the game is the Blackcloud Wrecker. To catch it you need a shipwreck AND the storm to be at that shipwreck. And btw, you need to turn in 50 of them! I don’t think I’m even grade 3 on them yet.

I want to try and fish during “gifts and glory” but I’m gonna need that boost for the guardians of fortune so that I’m not spending the entire Christmas break on pvping. Seems like a fun idea to waste a community day on so maybe I’ll try that next time
@@CliffTheStoryGuy I mean to be fair getting lvl 50 in hunters call is ridiculously crazy, in my opinion hunters call is even harder to grind than Athena :/
I got one of them during community day too. And another rare trophy 5 minutes later. 40k in like 3 minutes. Also if you want more rare stormfishes, go to sea dog tavern during a storm, the only stormfishes that will spawn are night versions and rare. And here's a new fishing idea: go at any active skeleton fort with grubs, have fun!
And to think I WASTED my community day doing Fort of the Dammed... when I could be out there raking in, the big bucks. Cliff very proud of you for getting the Shadow Stormfish, but if you want an easier wau to catch stormfish, is to use the Merfolk's Lullaby site, it can predict where the storm is going, and you can just park at **Small** Island, that way you can cook while you wait for the storm/travel, everyone can fish at the island, an if the island is small, you are not competing with Islandhoppers. Hope this info get you over the edge.
That doesn't really make it any easier tbh, if I wanna keep my fishing uptime as high as possible, just staying in the storm makes more sense then seeking out an island, anchoring, starting to fish and then doing it all over again once the storm moves
@@CliffTheStoryGuy I mean does make it easier, at least, less prone to error. When you're not in a storm you travel faster, when you get to the island you can get more bait or cook fish, when the storm approach all can fish without fear of loosing it to passing islands/rocks. And doing this in the Wilds and Shore of plenty, also ensures your bait does not compete with the ancientscale, meaning you are more prone to getting more Stormfish, more securely with everyone fishing. Simply look on the Merfolk's map where the storm is heading, you land minutes early and get a full duration of it's visit to the island, you can leave as soon as the storm is over and start over. This can get you 3-4 stormfish per person that fish per island. At least I find this method more effective, tho perhaps not as great for content... If you want a REALLY rare fish my friend, seek the Blackcloud wrecker...

I caught a trophy shadow storm fish very early this year on a x3.5 gold community day, it sold for 56k white value gold! Currently on 9/10 shadow storm fish, so close!
Hey Cliff have you thought of using fort of the damned to fish battlegill? they sell for quite a good bit. You assemble everything to start a fort of the damned, park your boat or a rowboat behind the FOTD and just fish. The active FOTD makes it so you fish up battlegill and they sell for an ok amount. It makes your overall gold per catch rise. Also, cooking them is eh.. Cooked fish only give you a small % gain to value. It's normally best to only cook trophy fish, unless you have someone with crazy down time who just doesn't wanna fish.
I like fishing in this game, it's a lot of fun to me. The Trophy Shadow Stormscale is quite the money maker. I go for them if I find a storm in the right place but otherwise I usually find a shipwreck in a remote area and fish up Wrecker's, the Snow Wrecker being second best.

im at about 1/4 through 48. one of these days, im going to plan a huge fishing trip to help me get to that 50 mark. the only downside is that none of my friends have as much patience for fishing as i do, so its unlikely that ill be able to catch more than 2 or 3 stormfish at a time. but im looking for a lot more than rank 50. ive decided im going to go all the way for legendary hunter. ive got 15 or 16 grade 5 commendations, good enough for 'hunter of the sea of thieves' title, but ive got a long way to go

im at about 1/4 through 48. one of these days, im going to plan a huge fishing trip to help me get to that 50 mark. the only downside is that none of my friends have as much patience for fishing as i do, so its unlikely that ill be able to catch more than 2 or 3 stormfish at a time. but im looking for a lot more than rank 50. ive decided im going to go all the way for legendary hunter. ive got 15 or 16 grade 5 commendations, good enough for 'hunter of the sea of thieves' title, but ive got a long way to go
I really wish they'd do something more with the Hunter's Call. They could do some awesome things like summoning megs or krakens
The moment he gets to level 50 he's a true pirate legend and to that I'll raise a glass
Ah... after tough day at work I'm betting blessed with Cliff's video while I'm eating pasta I just finished cooking. Damn... what have i done to deserve this?
Btw I hope you're feeling better. :3
Every day is a great day with a cliff upload
Close to pirate legend after 4 years
👀
I love fiching in sea of thiefs
Love you're vidios❤️
Lol this is great 😂
Agreed
"Actually, there is always a bigger fish"
- Qui-Gon Jinn probably
sounds plausible
For your next expedition, if you use the storm tracker you can head to an island in the path of the storm, fish until the storm passes over you in the shallows suffering no storm damage to your ship. Then skip the next island in the path and go for the island after that.
you lose a bunch of fishing uptime by doing that instead of just staying in the storm
@@CliffTheStoryGuy But it give you time to resupply on bait plus the entire crew can fish without risk of the line hitting islands.
Last bonus, it keeps you moving so you have a chance of running into a wreck where you can get Blackcloud Wreckers.
I love your videos so much cliff
5:11 for a second I thought you had two stoves a year before that became a thing
Can’t believe this is the inspiration I needed to come back to the game💀
Hey Cliff, i don’t know if it works, never had the idea at the right time, but when you take a look at merpholks lullaby at the weather forecast and watch out for the arena. because it is not in any region so it should have guaranteed shadow stormfishes when theres a storm around arena
We did that for a livestream once actually
and did it work? just curious
Cliff the fishing Story Guy
I love watching Cliff's videos! Really gets me going to play SOT! But I'd like a British friend of two to play with (British pirates of a feather always sail together! Also - need the same timezone) so if anyone is out there needing an extra hand... Hello!
Try PhuzzyBond's Discord, they have a pretty sizable Looking for Crew section
Cheers Cliff! I'll check it out!
I'd get in touch, but I hate Discord. Too many creepy types there, and it makes me miss how IRC servers used to be a thing people actually hosted.
What's the song that starts playing at 4:10?
Last night I was watching your videos and I skipped on a trophy muddy wild splash. So I went to bed.
Thanks for the awesome content and great video!!!
Shipwrecks Cliff! Fish at them for Wreckers, the barrells in a shipwreck have fish/meat, and reset every 15 mins or so, and could have even more!
Plus, you have to get those blackcloud wreckers eventually! (Shipwreck whilst in a storm!)
I farmed shipwrecks on stream but just like with people yelling at me to do thieves haven runs for gems, it'd make for really, REALLY boring videos
Ah the people that have to be entertained, they ruin fishing I tell ya!
FIRST! :D
edit after watching the video: this better become a series called the Hunter's Call Grind xD
nah im just jokin but I'm excited incase an episode 3 ever comes out 👀
