  • Maiden flight of the Motion RC Freewing Twin 64mm F-14 Tomcat! This thing is fast for a twin 64mm.
    Landing was a bit scary... I had down elevator when flaps were engaged as per book. Next flight, I removed the elevator compensation and it was much easier. Stay tuned for that video...

    Yes. Definitely needs throttle when you come in. On my maiden, I came in a shorter approach with less of my runaway and had a very nice glide slope with little power and she suddenly dropped. Bent the front gear but was able to get it straighted out. 2nd flight, came in with power and had no problems.
    Side note, Motion's version of SAFE is auto levelling only when you're off the stick (per Motion). There's no bank angle limits like Horizon and you can do loops and rolls in Motion's "SAFE" mode. (I can confirm that, lol). They call it panic mode which is accurate.

    • @all_rc
      @all_rc  3 месяца назад +1

      Weird .. I need to try safe again. On that maiden flight, I had it in SAFE mode by accident and I definitely felt it limit my angles. I switched it to off after half a lap.
      My issue was the down trim in the elevator compensation for the flaps. I removed the down trim when flaps are deployed and it was much better. Still need a bit of power but it wasn't diving down when I reduced throttle like it did in the maiden video.

    • @DronemanJoeRc
      @DronemanJoeRc 3 месяца назад

      that is very interesting to know, they never say that at all. Can you explain this a bit more to me and this diff between HH safe and MotionRc safe mode?

    • @hamiltonshangar
      @hamiltonshangar 3 месяца назад

      So you didn’t need any compensation for the flaps?

    • @all_rc
      @all_rc  3 месяца назад +1

      Not in my case. I assume they put that in the instructions for a reason but the down elevator compensation really messed up that maiden. I now run with no flap compensation and it's very controllable

    I had same issue with flaps and wing sweep. What i did is find the sweet spot on my remote when the flaps are in position 1 so that the swing sweep disables. On my Futaba that was +45 on AFR of flaps. I then adjusted the Right max to flaps up (+35) and left max to flaps full down (also +35). All done in AFR setting (dual rates).
    Also it seems you where a bit tail heavy.
    I am in love too. I flew 3 times. Cant wait for next weekend

      It ain't cheap. But it is quality. What other plane with twin edfs, full retracts, flaps, tuned built in gyro etc and not to mention wing sweep with two large high torque servos can you get for cheaper? Everything is getting expensive. If they put this out 4 years ago it would probably have sold for 350 to 400. But it's the world we live in right now.

Not one radio hit when using Frsky Tandem Receivers... Transmits on 2.4ghz and 915mhz at the same time on to one receiver. Super reliable, easy and powerful programming and very affordable.

    Hey Jose Im Joe just found your channel and gave you a like and sub. when I put a 2sec flap open and close on mine it interfered with the wing swip when I opened and closed them so I just set it to normal. Do you have any issue with that?

    • @all_rc
      @all_rc  3 месяца назад

      I have mine on a slider and not a switch. But with a switch, the servo should be slow enough to not require any slow down.

    • @TheBobaroooo
      @TheBobaroooo 3 месяца назад

      Variable Sweep is a very nice touch !! How did you manage to get that to work ?? Your Wing Sweep comand is on a Slider ? Thx

    • @all_rc
      @all_rc  3 месяца назад

      Yep, just put it on a slider. It's essentially just pushrods attached to high torque servos. The difficult part was adjusting the servos so arms were as equal as possible and then adjusting the pushrods for full travel in both directions. But you'll need to do that regardless of using a switch or slider. I also adjusted the servo end points for more than 100%. Just adjusted until I had full travel.

    • @TheBobaroooo
      @TheBobaroooo 3 месяца назад

      Very Kuwell, ...Hey, have you checked the Load on those Servos in the Mid-Sweep positions... Hate to see a huge Draw on them while Holding their position// could give you some troubles !! I've got a similar situation going on with the Xfly B-1B project. Great Maiden, thanks for posting. Cheers !!

    • @all_rc
      @all_rc  3 месяца назад

      I haven't checked load. The interesting thing is there is no lock on the wings out or full sweep positions either. If the plane is unplugged, I can freely move the wings. It's not like a retract that locks when down.... I assume they sized the servo correctly... (Hopefully!)
