man, I wouldn't advise this stuff unless you are in a large enough group, you don't hear much about it int he main news sources but its a common thing for people to fall victim to cartel stuff all over Mexico not just the hot spots. Their favorite vehicles to take are 4x4 any make or model your chances of a run in with them is way higher. Several journalists that report on cartel and Mexico like on joe Rogan podcast and others state if your in Mexico do not drive a 4x4.
