    • @martindeleon9863
      @martindeleon9863 6 лет назад +12

      I know my comment is a year late but it will be perfect for boxing! I’ve been doing Judo for 20 years and combing it with a dominant striking art like boxing will definitely turn you into a strong competitor.

    • @jackwilson6570
      @jackwilson6570 6 лет назад +2

      If you take a jeet kune do approach where you have the dominant hand forward then you can really combine judo with anything. Personally I'd recommend something like wing chun since it doesn't really require a set stance or a form of karate since it makes up for having no striking in judo

    • @quantumblurrr
      @quantumblurrr 6 лет назад +8

      Jack Wilson No wing chun, no jeet kune do, sorry but stick to the stuff that’s proven to work, wrestling bjj judo sambo kickboxing boxing Muay thai kyukoshin karate (or however it’s spelled - the one that utilises hard sparring) maybe shotokan karate if it’s sport based and not kata based, etc if you want to know that it will work, basically any martial art that can also be called a combat sport

    • @jackwilson6570
      @jackwilson6570 6 лет назад

      @@quantumblurrr you're right but I was thinking about more of a seemless combination which can be done with relative ease rather than a ufc style which would be dominant in a fight but would leave you open when shifting between styles. It much more difficult to switch stances during a close quarters fight than one would think.

    On the off chance that you reply to comments (I can see you're a big channel), I was wondering what your opinion is on Judo compared to Jiu-Jitsu as self defense against people who may be armed with drug needles.
    I am a fairly small man at 5 ft 3', slim build (basically a human stick). I work as the attendant of a public toilet which puts me in a position where I have to deal with drug addicts who have come in to shoot up, and have found that some of them are actually quite violent. I'm looking at joining self defense classes in either judo or jujitsu, but not sure which is best for such opponents.

      buy a taser or pepper spray, or simply leave the area until something can be done. no job is worth taking some junkie's needle. but to answer your question, i think judo is more applicable/ your goal shouldnt be to submit them, judo is great for getting them on the ground and getting yourself into a safer situation. no need to get on the ground with them

      @@johnmatonne7834 I never said don’t do striking I mean for grappling in general I think striking is very important but grappling beats out striking majority of the time

      @@PS-rb5fw But you did promote Judo and Jiu-Jitsu and said nothing about striking. I agree many or perhaps most fights end on the ground. But, they all begin on the feet friend. And practicing BJJ from the knees is probably the stupidest thing I've ever witnessed. Not one single fight that I've ever seen or heard of has ever started on the knees. And it is still questionable how effective BJJ is in the street. Judo? Yes! I mean if someone takes me down in the street and is in my guard.....I'm gabbing a handful of groin...They don't practice that defense in the BJJ Dojo do they?

    hey I've been doing judo for some time now and i just got my brown belt (the 3 weeks after i turned 14,) i have 2 questions firstly does it damage your growth because I'm 1m80, and I'm wondering if it would damage my growth and secondly would u have any tips to getting the black belt! Thank you , your videos have helped me with my judo a lot!

      I have a question of my own. Do they teach you about judo submission holds? Or is that after you earn black belt?

      Shouldn't be worried about belts, but just getting better and learning the art.

    If the whole point is to get them to the ground and hold them, can’t I just single leg(wrestling)and get them on the ground?
