just found this channel and i am thrilled! i was taught how to knit during a residential mental health program. i fell in love, but no one in my ginormous family knits so i have no one to teach me the details and skills! thank you for making these videos and sharing your knowledge
You are so welcome, Jeanne! I also have a Facebook page (same name) and it's filled with a community of supportive knitters at every level; we love to help beginners, please join us! ❤️
I've been knitting for over 30 years now, and I try to avoid sewing and seaming if I can. I can do it, but it's not my favorite part of the garment-making process. You make it look effortless, almost enticing; your instructions are clear and easy to implement. I may have to start a cardigan, just so I have a place to put pockets...
Thankyou so much for this easy to follow tutorial. I've been frightened of doing this stitch for years but after watching this, I've managed to do it correctly! Not perfect, but correct is more than enough
Wow. You made this so less daunting, thank you. I have a cardigan pattern I've wanted to start, with pockets (I believe, knit as you go). I'll read the pattern and watch this again! (Or watch Part II.) Thank you!
I never seamed a pocket before. I can see a great advantage to it as an afterthought pocket for a daughter who is not sure what she wants. As you said " so cool" . Thank you Suzanne
Hi Suzanne, thanks for your clear explanation as always! I will teach this in my knitting class in December as topic of the month. Love all your videos by the way. This month I will send in my level 3 MHK to Claire of TKGA, very excited! Hope to become a master knitter next year. And then I will subcribe for the professional knitwear designer course at TKGA. I did not expect that knitting with knowledge is so much more fun. You helped me a lot passing all the levels 💝😃 thank you so much!
This is so wonderful to hear, De Breischool! ❤️ All the best on your TKGA journey! I have a selection on my playlist of 5 minute or less videos that are accepted by TKGA, if you need them. Please keep me updated, and if you aren't already on my Facebook page (same name), please consider joining us. 😊
It will be soon. This is a series in conjunction with a series of articles that I am writing for Cast On Magazine. The online journal for TKGA members. TKGA = The Knitting Guild Association - www.TKGA.org.
Nice, good video and lesson. Your are awesome. I think the hardest part of accomplishing this for me will be finding the slipped edge stitch on the vertical side. I also wonder if its possible to do this as side pocket with an angled ribbed edge?
Absolutely. You can make a diagonal edge patch and seam it on. That will be in the next issue of Cast On Magazine. I will be doing the diagonal edge as well as knitted on pockets.
Sound like a stupid question 🙋♀️, but I am a beginner how to patch a normal pocket start from right side of the pocket to down side and around up to the top of left side? I couldn’t find a clear introduction in RUclips videos, the way you make it so detail
this video is so wonderful! detailed and gives just enough info, all of the important bits! :-) i have just finished up a cardigan and was going to sew on the pockets. the ones i had knitted were not slip-stitched for the selvages.. that should not be an issue though, right? thank you for this video!!
Hello Suzanne Do you have a video how to KNIT pockets on? I Don't understand the instructions in pattern books I've used how to do them so I been avoiding them. 😁🥴
I saw a tutorial on knitting pocket as the fabric was knitted at the same time. Too bad there were no translation so it’s hard to catch the tips. It looks beautiful! I’m afraid my eyes will cross when picking the stitches…LOL! Thank you for your teaching 🙏

You're very welcome, Them Tran! ❤️
You’re amazing!! Live everything you do. So easy to follow.
Thanks so much!!
Excellent seams. If you have two different colors (like you do, with yellow and white), which color should you use for the thread?
I would use the color of the pocket. But either would be fine, as you can see in this demo, the seaming thread is not visible.
Thank you, Suzanne. I'll post them in KWSB group. 👍
You're welcome, Dollyce, and thank you! ❤️
When do we get part 2, this was so helpful to me. Thanks so much.
