It's rare for her to do it there, at some point she would start and end it with a whistle or a superhead voice but would skip the whistle in the middle of the song to favor better support for the belting. It's a song with a 3 and a half octaves, really hard to perform because almost every single verse is tricky and whatever you try to do to discredit her she will always be more talented and more successful than whomever you call your favorite. There is a reason why Billboard crowned the Greatest Female artist of all time and the 4th greatest overall.

Ofc its not as pristine as her prime but she had a couple nice belts 2 and dodged where she needed to, added some golden low notes and she went for her whistle. Love this actually, super restrained and showing how she works with her specific voice and aging .

Each time I’m absolutely thrilled to see what she’s gonna do with it so I 100% prefer her not singing like the record because she already done that before. This is an iconic song but my favorite of hers is The Roof.

Smh I feel like I'm the last honest lamb left, how do you guys not hear everything dats going on in her voice? The dodging of certain notes? The new heavy husky whistle? Like what is really going on in here.
And she has been becoming so nasal in her technique and I think that technique restricts her vocals on reaching her higher register. I also hate that she has been not sustaining the chorus belt since 2016 (except 2017 which was her worst year tonally), and the whistle sounds kind a thick but I believe her voice is recovering, I just wish she would just have her Caution tone back with her 2014-2016 technique.
She sounds different, but people have said that about her voice SINCE the 90’s. A lot of critics disliked her vocals during the Butterfly era bc it wasn’t as clear and light as her previous albums. Some didn’t like the Emancipation era bc she belted too much. Then she tried auto-tune and people criticized her while other artists were praised for doing the same thing. At this point, I personally prefer to appreciate her legacy. She can do whatever she wants bc she’s earned that respect... and the fact that she’s still doing what she set out to do from the beginning of her career is just simply inspiring in my POV.

In her recent videos, when she sang Fly like a bird and other songs from Emancipation she proved that she can still hit them notes when her voice is in good condition.
