And she STAYED beautiful. WOW! I love that she didn't leave her husband when he was injured...instead, she rolled up her sleeves, and took whatever job she could get to pay their bills.
Classy, intelligent, and beautiful.I just love seeing how Yvonne aged. She aged beautifully and naturally, something you don't see often today. Definitely one of a kind!
16:36- Though Miss DeCarlo had loved watching monster movies with her sons and was happy to do 'The Munsters' to help support her injured husband and their family, it seems when she first saw herself in her Lily Munster makeup she bemusedly asked herself, 'It's come to THIS?' Although the makeup for the regulars (save for the performers playing Marilyn) was a major hassle, the cast DID have fun working together and performing in that sitcom!
And playing Moses brother Aaron was John Carradine who later played Herman's boss Mr. Gateman and had a lengthy scene with Lily. I can't help but wonder if those two had a good laugh about how far they'd come from the Parting of Red Sea!
Yvonne DeCarlo. Very beautiful and stunning actress. Loved her ♥️on The Munsters and she was the first featured guest star ⭐ on the pilot episode of Bonanza.
I really enjoyed this, most all of these videos I have watched, but this one was special. I grew up watching The Munsters, and never had an afterthought of who this lady was. My memory is screwed, so I've already forgotten her name, but she was still part of my after school for many years. What a lifetime, and the amounts of twists and life altering turns that made her, was awesome to hear about. She was a titan.
Actually (though not intentionally he said), Steve Sondheim summed up her career perfectly: "First you're another sloe-eyed vamp. Then someone's mother. Then. you're camp. Then you career from career. Still someone said she's sincere so I'm here.
Yvonne de Carlo was her most beautiful in the 10 commandments as sephora Especially as the wife of Charlton Heston who played Moses he was beautiful then too
Salome was King Herod's stepdaughter. She performed a special dance for Herod at his birthday celebration. He was drunk and promised to grant her any wish she wanted if she would just dance for him. Her wish was for John the Baptist to be beheaded and literally handed to her on a silver platter.
She had a very full life. As a woman who lost a son I can definitely relate to her heartbreak. It's just sad she had to have that stroke because living to be 84 isn't bad as long as you didn't have to suffer for nine years. Also kudos for her book. Telling her story her way.👍🏼
Beautiful women do get the wrong man allot of times. I think it’s because the men are so prone to go for looks. They only have selfish motives. Howard Hughes was known to always chase beautiful women. Hughes was very selfish. He used to have the women followed and spied on. He did strange things. He tried to romance allot of them and was always taking them flying. I can’t remember who the beauty I was reading about yesterday that said if you didn’t want to spend everyday flying Howard was mad. lol Debra Paget said Howard had her followed all over Hollywood. If she was at home he wanted to know who was at her house? One time it was Elvis. lol one the MM tokd Debra there a big black limo driving around out here. She told him it was Howard Hughes men keeping an eye on her. So the MM used to go pick her up - rush her to the car and take her Elvis house. Geez! These Rich men do strange things. lol
Howard’s women read like a who’s who of beautiful women in Hollywood! Lol as well as Yvonne - he had hedy Lamarr and Debra Paget and Kim Novak! Theres list after list.
Her time on The Munsters introduced me to her own fabulous self! I enjoyed every role she played and definitely NEVER sensed and kind of backstabbing, plotting drama queen.
I used to watch her everyday after school, I saw The Ten Commandments every year for 20 years and never knew she was in it, I didn't read credits when I was younger. She has a lot of fans from The Munsters that were children when they started watching her!
My mother looked like her, dark hair, blue eyes, light, white skin. My father wouldn't let her wear red lipstick, or red dresses, because of the attention she garnered, from other men. She wore red lipstick, anyway.
Use the term "starlet" correctly. You mentioned that Yvonne De Carlo was cast as a harem girl to "starlet" Dorothy Lamour. Lamour was a star by that time. De Carlo, at the time, was a starlet until she became a star with "Salome, Where She Danced". Otherwise, a well-made documentary!
The name of the role she played in her first big role is pronounced “Sallow-may” . I wouldn’t have mentioned it, but it was said several times in the video. It was a great biography. Good job! Thank you!
An interesting bio but if you want to know the answer to the thumbnail (about her father) skip to about 18:41 where she revealed in an interview that her real father was not small time crook William Middleton, but a Polynesian man, name unknown. 😊
@@heyokaempath5802No, Cecil Be.de Mille wanted her to sport brown eye-lenses as she would play a Semite woman (Moses's wife) but he ended up changing his mind...
Great information, but the narrator needs to change the singsong pattern of his voice with the last word of every single sentence dropping in pitch the exact same way. Just some constructive criticism.
Do the closed captions typists not receive any kind of preview of the subject they will be covering??? Not spelling the star's name properly most of the time is a big red flag!!!
OMG please record this again (and, yeah , I know it won’t happen) the movie “Salome” is pronounced “SOL oh may”; it’s not “suh LOW may” which sounds like a deli meat. Please check out pronunciations whether it’s a real human voicing a video or a bot. No excuses.
Her eyes have been stated as blue or blue-grey on many websites. Her colorized Lily Munster photos make her eyes look brown, though. Check a search of her images on the net. What she wore in the photo sometimes changed the color a bit, but only the Lily photos look brown. Even in her Hollywood b/w photos, you can see that her eyes had to be blue, grey or hazel from the lightness of the grey tones of the print.
When I first came across the channel I found the story telling style interesting but it seems that all narrators follow the same formula. Now it has become repetstive and boring. You probably have lost interest and have asked one of these no so AIs to write script for you. That is another danger of these so called clever machines. They are going to bore us into submission. Terminator is just too much work, isn't it? Why waste bullets when you can bore mankind to death?
This narrator is hard to listen to, voice work isn’t for everyone. His diction is off, too many mispronunciations, and he sounds very young. I realize he’s probably doing the best he can. But I stand by my statement, voice works not for everyone.
Dont know about this video but a LOT of voiceovers are AI now and can be noticeable not because of the accent which is pieced together from human voice samples but from the strange timings and odd pronunciation of non obvious spellings.
@@logothaironsides2942 not the case with this one, listen to it and see what you think of this young guy’s narration. I actually won’t listen to the AI voice overs, can’t stand it.
She chose to work as "Lilly" to take care of her family. Now that a woman.
And she STAYED beautiful. WOW! I love that she didn't leave her husband when he was injured...instead, she rolled up her sleeves, and took whatever job she could get to pay their bills.
You could tell even with makeup and wig on The Munsters, she was quite a beautiful woman.

Absolutely! She really was.

I saw her on stage in Australia mid 1970s in the musical No No Nanette.
It was a big hit and she was still beautiful.

Thank you Yvonne for being such a strong female role model who could stand on her own and not be just a pin up. You meant a lot to many of us women. ❤

As a kid, I couldn't decide between Lily or Morticia.
Both beautiful women ❤
Morticia because the makeup for Lily was too heavy .
@@BlackStump172 Morticia also spoke French. Oo la la!!
Yeah that was a tough choice.

good biography, sad life choices

HUGE thank you for not playing background music. Afterall, we all want to listen.
I've been a fan of hers since I was 9 years old...when I saw a photo of hers in an illustrated magazine...back in 1959.
Lovely actress and personality. All her movies including her scary ones she did later in life made her a multifaceted actress. Miss her! 😊
SAL-oh-may. Salome.

She always had such a stage presence.
She had Enuuf of Duff

In her auto-biography the Munster's gets less than a page.
