MultiBlonde77-- my answer is sorta. :-). I have a contact in Bujumbura that made the arrangements for me to see them in the first place. Contact me through my web site. I tried to put in my address, but RUclips won't allow links in comments. When I get your email, we can discuss the details. Thanks for being interested in the people of Africa. :-)

I have a video of me trying to do the most simple stuff with the male Burundi drummers, but it's a LOT harder than it looks. And before you ask, there is no way that video is every getting on you tube.

Actually, I recorded the male Burundi Drummers this last year. There is a clip where they called me forward to play with them. It's much harder than it looks. The clip is just too embarrassing for me to post. :-)

I'm sure glad you enjoyed the video. I go to central Africa nearly every year to teach the local pastors. I'm trying to arrange a trip for this year, but I don't know if it's going to work out. Samahani mama, wewe unasema kiswahili?

I don't have any idea why they circle their necks like that. BrownSkinn1, you're right, the men do it as well. But I've yet to figure out the meaning. I should be in Burundi later this year, and I'll try to find out.

For thousand of years, Burundian walked and now they drive, slept in tchached houses inzu traditionel, ubu baba mwitafari nitigura.....Burundian eating habits changed and so is the dressing code or even the governing mode. culture constantly change

Probably referring to the fact that Drumming is outlawed for women in Burundi. Which is a great shame clearly.

They have destroyed our culture, that's why our authorities have stopped them, in our culture the drum has it meaning in our tradition. when analyzing the parties of a drum in our languige, any woman can not do such activities.
