- The Female Burundian Drummers rehearse in a parking lot. I didn't know there were women Drummers until I saw them here. Lot's of people gathered around to see the show! Recorded in Bujumbura, Burundi in August of 2011
Fabulous! It was in1989 that I first realized how fabulous the Burundian drumming was.
Beautiful!!! They looked like they were having so much fun!!
I miss my lovely country many years ago without going there but Inn Shaa ALLAH, I will go back as soon as possible

Adinett Te'Te' What kind of music do you sing?
MultiBlonde77-- my answer is sorta. :-). I have a contact in Bujumbura that made the arrangements for me to see them in the first place. Contact me through my web site. I tried to put in my address, but RUclips won't allow links in comments. When I get your email, we can discuss the details. Thanks for being interested in the people of Africa. :-)
I love the obvious joy with which these women drum and dance.
I love burundi so much the heart of africa
Fantastic! (Thank God for cultural diversity:)
beautiful Burundi
I have a video of me trying to do the most simple stuff with the male Burundi drummers, but it's a LOT harder than it looks. And before you ask, there is no way that video is every getting on you tube.
***** hehe, that is sad that it never gets any airtime! :)
What an experience, thanks for sharing.
I love it!
hello '
is theres any translation for what the leader drummer says in the begging? thanks for shering.
The dancing was great!! I might look like they're not doing much, but their feet don't miss a beat
Beautiful!!!! What that mean when they take the drum stick and circle their head? I see the men do that too.
Actually, I recorded the male Burundi Drummers this last year. There is a clip where they called me forward to play with them. It's much harder than it looks. The clip is just too embarrassing for me to post. :-)
wow very beautiful
You can read all about me at my web site becomingmature . org. I don't keep it up as much as I should, but all about me is there.
I'm sure glad you enjoyed the video. I go to central Africa nearly every year to teach the local pastors. I'm trying to arrange a trip for this year, but I don't know if it's going to work out. Samahani mama, wewe unasema kiswahili?

I don't have any idea why they circle their necks like that. BrownSkinn1, you're right, the men do it as well. But I've yet to figure out the meaning. I should be in Burundi later this year, and I'll try to find out.

ubearable!!! this is the violation of Burndi traditional values, never a woman hits the drum
ferdinand hatungimama tradition and culture are constantly changing. For thousand of years, Burundian walked and now they drive, slept in tchached houses inzu traditionel, ubu baba mwitafari nitigura.....Burundian eating habits changed and so is the dressing code or even the governing mode. culture constantly change
Probably referring to the fact that Drumming is outlawed for women in Burundi. Which is a great shame clearly.
ferdinand : shut up!
🐂 💨💨
They have destroyed our culture, that's why our authorities have stopped them, in our culture the drum has it meaning in our tradition. when analyzing the parties of a drum in our languige, any woman can not do such activities.
Mumico y'abarundi ntamukenyezi yavuza ingoma normalement ntibibaho..
thanks you so much fun 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
