    . TAC PF22 Pulley Model | ThinkTac
    A pulley is a simple machine, used widely for millennia, to make the lifting of heavy objects easier. Most classically ingrained in our minds as a method by which to draw water from a well, pulleys are used in a whole host of man-made machines in various settings, e.g. cranes, lifts, sailboats, etc.
    In this TACtivity, we recreate the classic image by building a pulley model using simple household materials, and then lift a small receptacle of water with it!

    Is the first play movable pulley and the second one fixed pulley?

      The first one, there is no pulley. One is literally pulling the thread over the skewer, and hence friction is high and it is more difficult to pull up than the second play, where we are using a pulley, which significantly reduces the effort. Once you start adding more pulleys, it gets easier and easier.
