A couple of weeks ago my wife and I flew my mother-in-law from Texas to Munich so she could see the German Christmas markets for the first time. We were having a great time until suddenly she passed away from a heart attack in her hotel room. She was very well traveled throughout her life, and I believe she spent her last days doing what she loved the most. Hug your family and tell them how much you love them as they can be taken away at any moment.
Last week, I traveled to Germany and visited numerous Christmas markets from Nuremberg, Dinklesbuhl, and Schwabisch hall. Each market has their own individual feel and different spirit towards the Holiday. Coming from Penn- USA, it got me into the Christmas Spirit.
I am an American also living in Germany, (South of Berlin) The Christmas Markets are wonderful fun! And filled with Fair Foods as us Americans would see it!

Yeah, the perpetrator really managed to harm and offend Atheists, Christians and Muslims alike with his actions and words. There's only two possibilities either he's clinically insane or vermin.
Eating yourselves through a German Christmas market can be great, but you could well live for the rest of the week from the money you spend for that! At least you had a good time together. Your analysis about German Christmas market culture is again spot on, as usually. It's the most fun when it's dark and really cold, then the mulled wine tastes best! My best Christmas market experience ever was in the really cold winter of 2009, when the mustard on the shelf of the sauerkraut and pork stall was frozen by the early afternoon. We never had such a cold winter ever again!
These are a must every year, it wouldn't be christmas without at least one trip to the christmas markets! They spread so much warmth and joy, no scumbags with hatred in their hearts will ever take this away.
They will disappear slowly and silently. First, they rename them from Christmas market to Winter market. Then, they stop offering German goods and replace them with third world food. Lastly, they remove all Christian symbols, so that Muslims don’t feel „excluded“.
I (a Brit) used to live in Munich. A couple of evenings a week before going home I would go for an early evening meal with an American friend, also a Munich resident. We used English together ... BUT .. if Brits or Americans sat next/near to us we would switch to German. Sadly it simply gets tiresome explaining life in Germany to over-keen tourists.
I love it. I hope to experience one so nicely someday, as I have not yet. I have been to Germany a couple times, just not during Weihnachtszeit. Perhaps I will once I live in either Munich or Hamburg, as I love both, though quite different.
Up until now we've seen the Nalf get infected with several typically German diseases: walking, hiking, mountain climbing, usw. But we see the reverse happening at 3:28 when the MG shows signs of addiction the the Nalf's American disease.
If you like Flammkuchen, you should check out the Flammkuchenhof in Heidelberg. They serve nearly 40 different kinds of Flammkuchen. And I think you might enjoy visiting the Mark Twain Center next time you are in Heidelberg. Merry Christmas!
I like the Stuttgarter Weihnachtsmarkt better with all the lovely decorated roofs and the ferris wheel. And I feel it's not too touristy despite being in a bigger city. You should try it out next year!
2:12 you have to admit: you can hear them, because they are so loud! which is because of their 2km personal bubble 😂 which they have to bridge by shouting! 🎉😂
I went to my local christmas market the day after the attack as lots of germans did. No one will ever take this from us. In solidarity together against hate and racism, lets spread love !
I don't know about Germany, but in Hungary, especially Budapest, Christmas Markets are way over-priced. Cheap for tourists, but very expensive for locals. Same can be said for other holiday markets, too .
As the first comment says it depends heavily on the town/city. The ones in big and touristy cities are usually rather expensive but the ones in smaller cities and towns are often surprisingly cheap, like really cheap.
NALF.... Hand sanitizer does not clean your hands of fatty meals. Instead it will spread out the fat evenly to help keeping up that protective barrier of your skin! 😂 Flammkuchen is the "German pizza" from southern Germany and Alsace-Lorraine in particular that used to be German but belongs to France 'now'. 😉🤣
As a resident of Heidelberg we have daily Germans with American caps and spouses. Also Americans with German merchandise including top shelf quality spouses on them. He's a lucky man far away from disliking anybody

Cash only in a city like Heidelberg? Southern Germany is crazy xD I live in western nrw in a small (200k) City and on our Christmas market more and more stands are "card only" you can't pay cash... Heidelberg feels rly backwards
Card payment allowed - possible, I've seen it myself. Card payment only? - Never ever! You would make a huge loss because not everyone can buy. Most children wouldn't be able to buy there, nor would many teenagers and 80 percent of senior citizens. Partly for technical reasons, partly out of caution, partly because they can't handle it at all, and partly because they don't even have an account yet. Unless you have a stall where you can do without this clientele, you would be stupid to do without their money.
You're quite right to post this video otherwise those wicked crazy people have won with their anti-Christian nonsense. Don't allow evil to win the day. Go out and enjoy the Christmas markets and support the craftspeople who run them.

Natürlich ist es furchtbar was passiert ist. Aber soll man deswegen nicht mehr auf einen Weihnachtsmarkt gehen? Das kann ja auch nicht die Lösung sein. Ich finde das Video in Ordnung.
Merry Christmas - Froehliche Weihnachten! You know probably about 15 years ago, on one of my trips to Germany I had a conversation with my German nephew about all the influx of middle eastern men into Germany, I believe it was after the "Arab Spring". He said well, we have to help these poor people, and I told him, you just wait, what we had in NY at the twin towers, you are inviting the same thing to Germany. I said, mark my word, it will happen in in Germany too. Well, it did. 2016 in Berlin and now in Madgeburg. Christianity is attacked. I don't go back anymore, it just does not feel like home anymore, and I used to go back every year, probably for 40plus years. So sad, but true.

You & your fiancée are very fortunate & privileged with the opportunity & wealth to go on many vacations all year round. You are both lucky to have an easy fun life without having to work hard or suffer any hardship. Just wish you were both better at paying forward with helping others, donating time & effort to people & good causes that need really need help especially at this time of year.
Things changed, like they always do but it's not unsafe to go out in general. We have more than 2500 Christmas Markets in Germany every year and compared to that number almost nothing ever happens.
The problem here in Germany is the extreme libertarians. Nowadays you get canncelled for speaking out. My homecity Pforzheim BW is overrun by migrants. You feel like you are on an oriental bazaar. But will be called racist for saying so. What a crazy world we are living in. And of course our budget for social welfare is 4 times higher than for our economy. So what, companies are laying off tenthausends but we need more foreign workers especially from islamic countries? This is puzzling to me
