Aaah, the typical one case story. Nevermind. But I don't believe in such "one cases".
I don't go Christmas markets anymore. It's the prices which destroyed it for me. US know it, too. It's called inflation.

@@Yildirim-f3c You don’t believe that there are mentally ill people out there who can be crazy enough to commit a terrible deed alone? Just to verify what you are saying, wouldn’t there have been or be more things like, that, daily, if your theory is true? There are many, many mental illnesses that can cause this. The guy is alive, he wouldn’t be if 5ere were others involved.

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I flew my mother-in-law from Texas to Munich so she could see the German Christmas markets for the first time. We were having a great time until suddenly she passed away from a heart attack in her hotel room. She was very well traveled throughout her life, and I believe she spent her last days doing what she loved the most. Hug your family and tell them how much you love them as they can be taken away at any moment.

Eating yourselves through a German Christmas market can be great, but you could well live for the rest of the week from the money you spend for that! At least you had a good time together. Your analysis about German Christmas market culture is again spot on, as usually. It's the most fun when it's dark and really cold, then the mulled wine tastes best! My best Christmas market experience ever was in the really cold winter of 2009, when the mustard on the shelf of the sauerkraut and pork stall was frozen by the early afternoon. We never had such a cold winter ever again!

They will disappear slowly and silently.
First, they rename them from Christmas market to Winter market. Then, they stop offering German goods and replace them with third world food. Lastly, they remove all Christian symbols, so that Muslims don’t feel „excluded“.

I (a Brit) used to live in Munich.
A couple of evenings a week before going home I would go for an early evening meal with an American friend, also a Munich resident.
We used English together ... BUT .. if Brits or Americans sat next/near to us we would switch to German.
Sadly it simply gets tiresome explaining life in Germany to over-keen tourists.

You would make a huge loss because not everyone can buy.
Most children wouldn't be able to buy there, nor would many teenagers and 80 percent of senior citizens. Partly for technical reasons, partly out of caution, partly because they can't handle it at all, and partly because they don't even have an account yet.
Unless you have a stall where you can do without this clientele, you would be stupid to do without their money.

Merry Christmas - Froehliche Weihnachten! You know probably about 15 years ago, on one of my trips to Germany I had a conversation with my German nephew about all the influx of middle eastern men into Germany, I believe it was after the "Arab Spring". He said well, we have to help these poor people, and
I told him, you just wait, what we had in NY at the twin towers, you are inviting the same thing to Germany.
I said, mark my word, it will happen in in Germany too. Well, it did. 2016 in Berlin and now in Madgeburg.
Christianity is attacked. I don't go back anymore, it just does not feel like home anymore, and I used to go back every year, probably for 40plus years. So sad, but true.
