Wow! It was Shreveport people that helped us. My daughter and I was in our apartment in lake Charles when hurricane Laura hit. We couldn't get out so we had to shelter in place. Hurricane Laura hit us with 150 mph winds. But at 419am to 549am her winds got up to 300 mph making her the first category 6 hurricane to hit our planet. And no one in lake Charles cared about us. It was people in Shreveport that gave us a hand to grab and helped us get back on our feet. After our apartment elapsed we had no where to go until a lady from Shreveport gave us a home. Even my family in lake Charles left us to face a deadly hurricane Laura. The Shreveport lady that helped us came through right on time because we had no lights, no water, no gas, and no food. Then here come hurricane Delta. No sooner she gave us a home then our apartment which was already full of water damage from Laura and now Delta collapsed. I thank God for this lady and the people of Shreveport that came through for us.
My family is here and I pray for the people of this town, everybody regardless of who you are. I loved shreveport for 11 years of my life but I got out and I wish everyone here peace. I want this town's beauty to show, but for the right reasons
The main thing Shreveport has to do is realize that when you hate on your own people in your city trying to do something, you hate on yourself. Why? Because when you realize that the power is in the numbers everyone wins. When someone blows again like Hurricane Chris, you have to support him with your money so he or she goes further to shine the light on the rest of the city so we all get money. The the person that blows has to be willing to pass the torch because he or she can only maintain the attention for so long. This is the reason Atlanta is winning because they know how to share the light, they just pass it back and forward to each other so it's hard for another city to take it from them.

The Cooper Road was annexed to the city in 81, it sits out by itself like a island and that's why some people call it the Island. Notice the lingo is different than other areas in the city. Shreveport is long going North to South and a good distance East and West once you reach the Central part of the city. I've been to alot of cities and their area isn't that long of a depth, but has more population than Shreveport. Shreveport's population is 200,000 and most of that being so called Black people. It's not small as outsiders think!! Once they take a tour wit somebody who knows the whole city, that can drive to all four corners, then they'll see what I'm talking about. I live in Vegas now and it only takes 27 to 30 minutes to get from one end of the mountain to the next. Just like New York City. The area is not bigger than alot of places like these Southern small cities, it's just their over populated small area with buildings after next. My popz is outta Hollywood, a kool area of the city. The only time I would see niggas from across town is either I go to their hood, go to the city clubs, or a concert. And I could recognize a face if I see them again. Vegas is the same way!! It's small, just alot of people. Imagine living in Houston or LA, where you'd probably never see a mf again you seen at sum function.

I understand where you are coming from, for sure. Moved 30+ years ago and haven't looked back since. Don't get me wrong. I've visited a handful of times and plan on going back next year for a class reunion. But I am so glad I moved when I did. It's like a vortex/black hole that traps you.
