    When all the wiring looks perfect it is easy to not even notice it. For anyone who really cares it easy to see all the great workmanship but for a casual observer it is easy to miss because it is all as it should be. Your work is always spot on, it is easy for anyone who cares about it being done right. Of course let one thing be out of place and it drives you crazy. This is one fine genset.

      Hours and hours and hours of work just to have it look passable. It can be as much work as mechanical stuff but people don’t give it as much credit until they think about it in terms of time.

    You are a true craftsman. It was nice to see that you used brass freeze plugs. A lot of guys would have gone the cheaper route with aluminum. Really top notch work. Someone will get a very capable system.

    Talk about quality control. You don't let ANTHING PASS WITHOUT BEING CORRECTED!!!!!!!! Details, details, details. you don't miss anything. This is one fine genset. If I were in the market for something this big, I would be contacting Mike already. Brass freeze plugs, who does that? Mike @ Small Engine Mechanic does. Could have gone the cheaper route, but didn't. That is now one awesome updated 2022, genset. 4 hour load test, who does that, Mike @ Small Engine Mechanic does. Thanks so much for sharing Mike, you are the genset man.

    I ran an auto / truck & large marine electrical shop for a few years... I absolutely love your beautiful panel wiring...
    The only other place I have seen such perfect wiring was in a 1970's Jaguar XJ-6... It looked as perfect as yours does, but somehow... when Lucas got their hands into it, this beautiful wiring would short burn or.. burst into flames..
    Yours is beautifully correct.. I can see NO future problems. I have since tried to emulate the perfect look of the Jaguars, but aspire NOT to create any kind of under - bonnet torch..
    I absolutely love your attention to perfection!! Keep on keepin on!

    you may want to consider chancing the current wiring of the batteries, with the current setup the governor side one has a marginally lower charge-voltage from the alternator because it has a marginally longer cable and at least six, probably eight additional contact spots that drop the voltage. you could run one lead to the exhaust side and the other lead to the governor side first, and then follow on to the respective opposite side battery, this way both batterys have exactly the same amount of contact spots and cable length from the starter and alternator (just one has the long run on positiv and the other on negativ, but thats no issue) and therefore have almost the same voltage, that way they last longer. Aside from this really micro minor issue, that probably is no issue at all since maybe the maintaining charger is hooked up that very way, I think you do an absolutely outstanding job there, I really like your work. Keep it coming. If I may, a little recommendation as a viewer: If you could, pls, use a mic for the engine noise with low gain, and record your voice with a active noise canceling mic on top and mix them together. While those engines run, its so loud with a single mic, one cant understand your word. Or do a voice over. I personally don' care, I dont need to hear a straining generator while you explain what you do, I, and I guess many other folks too, do know how a running engine sounds, only the starts are interesting. On the other hand I value your statements.... 🙂 My Kido loves your vids, just like some others like letsdig18, watchweswor, CEE Australia and so, but when you move to starting, shes gone, and if shes playing around, she starts complaining about the noise right away.

    • @SmallEngineMechanic
      @SmallEngineMechanic  2 года назад

      Thanks for checking it out! I don't think it will become an issue with charging the batteries as the charge current will be relatively low (15-30A) and the voltage drop over the 14" of 1/0 cable will be minuscule. If anything the battery nearest the control will be delivering more current on start up but even at that I do not think it will cause an issue.

    Very nice Mike. I didn't think I'd see anyone who was as particular about the harnesses they make as me until I saw your work. Very impressive to say the least. I have a few projects I need to get to as well, I just picked up another 6.0 DJB and I need to rewire and restore my 6.0 DRN. I wish I had the room to keep large generators like you have, as there's a lot for sale near me, but I can't have something that big around at the moment so I stick with small 1-4 cylinder sets.

I was sure that space consuming box can be replaced with a smaller controller but I am really not that advanced when it comes to electronics, If you guys are in Florida I will be more than happy to let you guys do it for me. But this video is very encouraging I already got Deep Sea DSE704 Generator AMF Controller and the major things like starter solenoid, battery, fuel solenoid are connected as per speed sensor mine has only 1 wire so I need to replace it I think. If you guys are in FL please let me know

    I think the leak on the high pressure side is because of the fuel line ending is not straight / paralell with the "head valve" tube and the spherical connection is not 101% tight on those two. The other leakage is from the injector body closing cap. Classic diesel leakage. KUDOS from Hungary, Central-Europe.
