Unfortunately, this is NOT for beginners. You click around the tools to set up the surface you want the holes attached to, but make no mention of what you are doing. This is the death knell for beginners. Please, please speak to every move/click you make and WHY you are doing it. So many tutorials make a fatal assumption that everything is going perfectly well, and then the person watching can't select a point to set a constraint with the tool you show. Why? We'll never know and the frustration mounts to the point people walk away from learning this. Not their fault...but the teacher's fault. I have done hundreds of software tutorials and know the pain of creating them. If you want to build a solid, beginner following, and stand out as an educator, fix the learning design. Please.

Hi, I started with FreeCAD/Ondsel just over three weeks ago and I had no problem following this tutorial. This was as simple as it could be and was as clearly explained. I agree with some of your points but in my experience in tutoring my young colleagues, I noticed a serious lack of focus, patience and in some, serious attention deficit, and some of them have real trouble shaking off the desire of instant gratification. There are so many FreeCAD tutorials here, you can really get confused. Different creators have different tutoring styles and workflows, it's up to the STUDENT to pick what suits but without any expectation for quick success. Also the project is very well documented (if one has the patience and desire to read it).
What I would suggest to people starting in this field is: if you don't have a clear perception of three dimensions and space, an understanding of basic geometry, dimensions, and some understanding in mechanics, you're just in the wrong place. Especially if you're using this to design for 3D print/CNC parts or assemblies, or any functional part in general. "I want it, and I want it now" just wont work here.
I've been in the engineering field for the last 25 years, the first thing I say to my new colleagues is: this is about PATIENCE AND PRECISION, and in precisely this order. If You don't have them, you're wasting my time as well as yours. You can bring the horse to the water but you cant make it drink.
