As a yarn creator , thank you for rescuing those afghans!! It always saddens my heart to see them in thrift stores and I rescue several. It takes a long time and a lot of work to create those afghans!! You rock. I love my thrift shops.
I feel the same way. I know someone put hours into making them. It breaks my heart to see them there. I crochet and $4.00 is less than the cost of yarn it costs to crochet the afghan. Great finds !

I was just thinking that same thing, my thrift stores here are outrageous and not much of anything. I’ve seen pieces with original tags from other stores and my good wills here marked them up a few bucks. I’m like what’s the point in that🤦♀️

I live close to DC and not all Goodwills,are the same, Alot of rich people in Virginia too.
We are in a college town with quite a bit going on and a variety of folks coming in and out of the area. We’re also a little over an hour outside of DC. It’s a mixed bag income wise here so the thrift stores do have some pretty decent things.
I went to a good will and their merchandise started at 2.50
You can never go wrong buying books. ❤

I don't think one can ever have too many books. When my kids outgrew their little kid books, I kept the ones I wanted and the rest I donated to my mother in laws little rural school where she was a librarian. I told her put free on them and give kids who might not otherwise be able to get a book to keep to have them. She said the kids loved being able to take a book to keep at home.

I collected ALL the "Dear America" and "Royal Diaries" books when i was younger!!! Loved them!!! My favorite one was "The Winter of Red Snow". I remember doing a book report on it in 5th grade.
When my son was little, I used to love to thrift shop. You could find the cutest boy clothes, and I also didn’t have a problem with Books either. Lol I have no clue how many books I had for that kid. I figured since a little kids go through stuff so quickly why pay brand new prices for something they’re gonna either outgrow or get tired of in no time.
You have such patience when you shop. You have great ideas to enrich your children's life.

Great haul Jamerrill. Our thrift stores used to be good ones but now they're mostly junk. Everyone now wants the green or blue mason jars and when I was young we didn't think anything about it. You're a great momma and provider. God bless you all. 💙🙏💙
I was able to find some of those classic blue jars last fall at Walmart. I was shocked, but I did grabbed them up right away.

The Dear America books are amazingly written. I read them in middle school and still love them and I’m 21 now.
I love thrift store shopping. Over 25 years ago when my girls were little the local Salvation Army store had children's books for .10 each one day a month, I used to pick them up 30 or more books a month.
That is a really nice thrift store. We love our popcorn popper like that one.
My daughter used " Oh the thinks you can think" as her guest book for her high school graduation party. We still enjoy looking at it! It was perfect for that. I love to thrift shop! My first college apartment was mainly furnished with thrift items. You got some great finds!

What i love about you is that you get out and go, no matter how many kids in tow. My back flares up and i rush through my errands, not enjoying anything. I just love how you teach your kids and you’re able to take your time with them and enjoy the lives you’ve been given. Im almost 39 and possibly facing more surgery. I pray to God that he keeps you going. You’re such a blessing to watch. Thank you.

I really enjoyed this video, as I love thrifting, too! You got some great deals, especially on the books. Being a former public school teacher for thirty years, I love books a ton! I always picked up books for my classroom when thrift shopping. PTO bought some for classrooms, but we can never have too many books! Thrift stores are great places to find good clothing for children who are growing so fast! My kids loved the thrift store finds I got for them. Thrifts are always great places to shop and you found some neat things for your kids!
Our Goodwill prices have become outrageous. I found dollar tree items priced higher then what you would pay for them brand new! Not to mention that the past 3 times I’ve been, the resellers had picked it over so I don’t really bother anymore. I’m envious of your thrift stores!
I thought it was just me seeing doll tree items at 3.99! I just go now to look for canning jars.
Yes! Every year as garage sale season ends all the used stores hike their prices sky high. I still browse. ( one dealer said he watches for what they don't know the real value of. 😉) I went in a month before Christmas to my G.W. and shocked to find dirt cheap nice quality items! Clerk said they received huge shipment of surplus and no place to store. Yea, win-win. Made out good.

I've had a Whirley Pop for years, you'll love it! Best popcorn ever, and it's fun to make too! Love these thrift store hauls! 💗
You will love the Whirly Pop! We have had one for years. One tip-don't do the "hot and soapy water wash" every time. I only wash ours out about once a month (I hope that's not gross) and every other time I just give it a quick wipe with a wet paper towel-It runs alot smoother that way!
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs was my favorite in the 80’s. There is a sequel too.
Nice haul!! The pot… I didn’t know what it was either. The day I meet my husband I found out. He showed me it was for popcorn! It makes the BEST popcorn. Yes the gears need oiled every now and then. We use our at home on the stove, we have also taken it camping and used it. We love it! Good luck and enjoy all the treasures you found.

Our goodwill does $1.00 Sundays. 2 colors tags each week. I try to go every other Sunday. Usually spent $20 to $30. Buy dress shirts, for the teacher in the family. Colored t-shirts for the custodian in the family. Just picked up a bunch of lamps for $1.00 each

Some of my favorite memories with my mom and Aunt were at Goodwill. Then we would hit Burger King on the way home. We had such a great time together.. miss them both

I make lapghans and shawls for the nursing home down the street. That large afghan probably had $30.00 worth of yarn in it as well as the time spent making it. You got a bargain there. I am so jealous of the Goodwill near you. The one I go to is tiny and the donations have dropped off in the last year. As for the books I get, I read them and then donate them right back. All of this reminds me I have a box ready to donate that I need to drop off.

@19:50 minute mark... the framed picture of the couple with their heads bowed as they're standing in the field. That is a copy of a famous painting and has several stories about what they're praying over or about. It prominently hung over Aunt Bea's and Sheriff Andy Taylor's fireplace in the Andy Griffith show.

I LOVE to Thrift Store shop! The majority of my clothes, & my children, comes from them. Homeschooling materials, books, kitchen, etc., etc., etc.! 😊 Treasures always abound there!

Wow that was some thrift store. I love books. You have to get the secret garden for your daughter. I first got it when I was 8 my best book ever. I read it to my son.( we did a chapter a night when he was little, 39 now) I read it to all my nieces and nephew and all the kids I baby sat for and my great niece too

Thanks again for sharing! I loved going to thrift stores and goodwill to pick up books when I was taking care of our first granddaughter! Read to her all the time from baby on! She loves to read! So does her younger sister! My 90 year old mom didn’t think my just turned 5 year old granddaughter could read anything ( she thought she memorized it! Brought her a book that was a Pokémon character book ( showed what each ones power was, opened a page and she read it to my mom! My mom ( her great grandmother) was amazed!

You can never have too many books! My kids all loved to read so many books! I too love books! My mom did too and we’d always find books for each other! I noted some that you bought, to look for! It’s always a fun day when you go thrifting! You never know what treasures you will find! That kitchen prayer plate- so beautiful!

The Dear America books were my favorite when I was in elementary! Then when I got a little older the Sunfire series was my favorite! They were similar, just longer books, slightly older characters (stories about girls in different time periods in American history) Very light PG romance sub-plot with a love triangle. Each book had a girl’s name as the title. I want to find them in thrift stores now bc they’re out of print.
That purple sippy cup brought back so many memories! It was my daughters favorite.

I always look at tea pots. Mostly if they have a large spout opening. They make great large quantity gravy holders. With a lid the gravy stays warmer longer. Just put on the table and pour out your gravy.
What a store yes the first one omgosh. I would be going crazy with the vintage stuff. So so hard to find here. I have lots of pieces I use but would have way more if available. And those prices on them are insane cheap. Oh yes Tobins second birthday coming up already and so is my baby girl turning 24 on March 20th :) I also love things that someone's grandma made and thank the lord made it to a thrift store and not in the garbage. I save things like that too. And treasure them. I also hoard haaa little purses. It's all good :) Love previously loved books to and also thank the lord they are not in a landfill and still shareable. hugs
Wow, all those Little House books 😍. I've never seen those around here in Australia. If we want them we have to buy them online.
