- I started this burning bush on its bonsai journey last year, and in this video, I'll give you an update on how it did in its second year. Here is a link to the playlist for this tree so you can see how it all started:

Hello from México, beautiful tree..here where I live in the border with texas the temperature is 30 degrees celcius until the middle of december..Saludos.
That's the region where this kind of vine is from - from SW US down to Brazil. I am in Seattle, where its already been below 0 celsius - so it gets to spend the winter inside :) I try to keep it above 7.2C but below 18 so it can rest.
Heck of a show! Looking forward to the root work in spring, should you make a video of it
It is a beautiful tree. I am going to prune it back pretty hard - I'll definitely post it :)
Great update video 👍🏻
Thanks! I'll do another soon, since I gave it a big cutback this winter and a root pruning in late spring.
Thanks for the info! I bought a Burnish Bush today and am hoping to bonsai. We’ve had a late spring here, and it’s just barely starting to bud. I’m wondering if it’s too late to prune. I’ve seen your other video about pruning mid-season, but mine has no foliage quite yet. Like I said, it only has small buds. Ideally I could prune it now, but I’m wondering about your take on whether or not I should let it grow out this season since it’s already begun to bud?
You can still prune since its just starting to bud - all the existing buds will grow out. It won't set new buds until next year, so there is no purpose in cutting it mid-season.
@@kinderfarms8417 thank you for the information!
Hello from Italy . There is a chance to send you a picture of my euonymus Alatus taken at the nursery . However , what I would like to ask is on pruning now . Want to shorten the plant by giving it a bonsai setting . The plant is adults so some branches will not be able to bend them or have tall woody branch . Can I drastically cut a branch as big as a finger hoping for growth of new branches or I have to go back year by year thanks
They seem to do okay with cutting big branches and grow new branches very well.
@@kinderfarms8417 thank you
Nice looking little tree. I started one and learned the hard way about the single flush. Here in Connecticut mine is just starting to change color. Your September pictures are spectacular. Thanks, keep growing
Thanks - it will take a long time to get it where I want it but it's quiet ornamental even at this young age.
