I’m still considered a beginner and I don’t do any of this. These are people who don’t know anything about surfing but want to learn, don’t call them kooks or be rude, they are new.
“Signs of a beginner surfer: they do things wrong” you’ve been a beginner not only at surfing, but other things in life too. We don’t go into things as experts.
So what if they are new, and I have been surfing for 6 years and I still use the colored sun screen, I don’t understand stand why protecting your self from sunburn means you are new
I'm a beginner. All the real good surfers are awesome and super friendly. Chill and laid back as you'd expect surfers to be. Only ever met one rude person, who was not nice and kind of wanted me to leave for whatever reason but he wasn't that great at surfing himself either.
The surf etiquette part depends on which beach you’re surfing at. For example I’m still a beginner and I go to a certain beach that has lots of beginner surfers where instructors can teach without having to be bothered by the surf etiquette.
Ok so I was at the beach a few months ago and I had just gotten out of the water I was taking of my wetsuit and this dude walks by with his wet suit and fin backwards and I couldn’t help but burst into laughter 😂
Bass ackwards in wetsuit. Make sure dude is surfing in Long Beach. Where breakwater stops virtually every swell except a SSEast swell. Which will occur this winter. Great post.
Ah yes, telling people not to put their wetsuit on backwards, fins on backwards, and not to drop in on people is very judgemental and not at all helpful.
I am beginning to see the best surfers at my local breaks acted like: They are the ones usually sitting by themselves day in and day out, calmed and alert, and catched every wave coming their way. The ones that being aggressive and tried to catch every wave, and yelling at people to get out of the way. They usually not that good. They think they are better than they truthfully are.
1.) they wear a rash guard or anything under their wetsuit. 2.) they paddle with their feet spread apart. 3.) they sit on their board with the nose out of the water. 4.) they sit way too far out 5.) they care way too much about being cool and forgot it’s all about the stoke. Just have fun and you’ll get there in time if you keep at it. HB in the house!
go with friends, using a foamy is usually what you start with. its nice to have friends to go with you that know what theyre doing so they can help you. its easy to get discouraged but just keep pushing yourself. i went on days that were even big waves for my friends and i couldnt keep up with them. in the beginning youll be slow and itll be hard to paddle all the way out there but overtime your shoulders will get stronger and youll get the hang of it 🤙
@leila9424 also learn how to duck dive or turtle dive so you can get thru the waves easier. i recomend watching surf videos too. anywhere from tutorials to professional surfing
Start with small waves, mostly whitewater before u move on to the bigger stuff. I recoment starting with a bigger board and doing some ballence exersises or even skate boarding. Hope this helps
Alright I’ll just let my ginger ass nose fall off from skin cancer at the ripe old age of 28 cuz some dude doesn’t like the fact that people wear coloured sunscreen on their face👌👌👌
You’re the type of person beginners fear. Being judged like they don’t belong made to feel out of place. I know, lifelong surfers that don’t seem to follow the rule on dropping into people. What’s their excuse? I’ve seen people getting into fist fights over waves. Like what the hell has gotten into you coming out to the most peaceful place on earth bringing that negative energy. Just relax and worry about yourself.
All you people saying he's shaming, he's not. He's teaching. Stop being offended for a hypothetical beginner and take notes so you don't make the same mistakes
these comments are laughable. pointing out rookie mistakes and shaming someone for being a beginner are not the same thing. i’m a beginner and had i not learnt these things from a surfer, i’d still be out there making these mistakes. lighten up everyone.
I been bodyboarding Los Angeles County for 2 years and surfers are naturally just jerks 😂. So I drop in on them all the time on my boog and laugh , i snaked these two tourists from Mexico in February this year , they were all winter geared out and had brand new gear worth thousands , here I am in my spring suit and a 60$ boog and snake both of them and just jog off back to my tent and laugh with my girl. Needless to say. I bought a 10$ long board from some rich kid in LB , he blessed me for real , it’s beat the shi but I’m going to become a great king boarder and make little cry hard surfer lads mad 😂😂😂
Arrête d'être méprisant mec ! Je crois que t'as pas une âme de surfeur et qu'à l'inverse de beaucoup de débutants tu n'as rien compris au surf et à sa philosophie.
Why is everyone such a baby about it? New surfers put people in danger. They’re oblivious to their surroundings. They don’t support local board builders. They leave trash on the beach, etc etc etc. localism is great when you’re on the good end of it. My local beach is ALWAYS clean and uncrowded, and people can take their kids out there without a beginner running them over and getting all pissy when someone tries to hold them accountable.
Sign 6, they’re not a toxic gatekeeper yet
Gate keeping what exactly?
@@jelly5289skill apparently 😂
😂😂😂😂 perfect comment
Maybe not be gatekeepers and make fun of people who are still learning. Must make you feel superior though

A kook is a bigginer, or someone thats not new and just sucks
i almost learned how to surf in junior lifeguard. I still can’t stand on the board, but I know all the basics of surfing.
Nah they’re kooks
6. Make a clip like this.

When learning be sure your at a beginner break. When someone is flying across the face and you get in the way people can get seriously hurt.
almost every beginner I've met is extremely kind and does their best to respect others. Also stop shitting on new surfers just to feel superior.
I love zinka
Yes have done this witness this .have been surfing for a long time do realize that learning was so much fun looking back.

A friend of mine sheepishly admitted that as a grommet, he waxed the bottom of his surfboard. He's now an old timer and a pretty good longboarder.
localism has spread to fuckin youtube lmao
Most underrated comment of all time 😂

Great post.
I love multicoloured zinc 🩷🧡💚
Judgemental
How?
Literally helpful tips for people to not do of these things especially the fins and the wetsuit wtf, isn’t it common sense?
Ah yes, telling people not to put their wetsuit on backwards, fins on backwards, and not to drop in on people is very judgemental and not at all helpful.
I wanna learn how to surf so bad
I don’t know which one I laughed at more, the wetsuit or the fins
so good haha
That last one is you at Malibu 😂
Totally rad dude.
God is there a community out there that isn’t toxic, I’m yet to find one
Ha ha we all kooks in the beginning some just always kooks in the end
surfing is a leisure activity. If you’re not having fun while doing it, try something else
U do private coaching?
And you are born as a Genius and never was a beginner one surfing ha?! I dont like your vibe...thats not like surfers or skaters should do
It's easy to tell. If there not a good surfer they are probably a beginner.
Brazilians & French veterans go on anything
I've been surfing over 25 years now and I don't care what you say, Zinka still rocks.
one time as a bigginer I SWEAR IT WAS AN ACCIDENT that i totally snaked another surfer 💔
I am beginning to see the best surfers at my local breaks acted like:

Don't be judgmental, simply use this clear sign in the same way you might view an 'L' plate driver.
#6 they go straight lol
I'm not a beginner surfer; I'm just shit at it.
That surf instructor is bricked up
Another sign... if they are screaming and crying getting flipped backward by an oncoming wave cause their board is 14 feet long. This is me btw.
So true
So what?
I agree with everything but the Zinka
✨Falling✨
Guilty. And I can't tell what's whong with the wet suit
Its on backwards
Who's going to teach me how to surf ??😢
the easiest way to tell is if they dont surf well they are probably a begginer.
Title should read: "1 Sign I'm a Massive Douchebag"
Sounds like mistakes 8 year Olds with no internet would make
Im kinda a beginner because i dont wear a suit and i take every wave
same bro lol
My list of signs of a beginner surfer is simpler, only a single item…
1…they can’t surf
Atleast they trying
This kinda seems off if someones knew teach them help them why jist make a jokey vid
instructors are beginners
that's was me
Why the mockery tone?

They mount their boards on top of the car with the fins towards the rear.
Fins Forward always in case the board comes loose
