I have the aluminum version with veff serrations sheathed on my vest whenever I do armed work. It would be extremely effective for the emergency uses it is intended for. I don't open boxes with it. If I wanted one for edc and fidgeting, I wouldn't mind the orange one, but I agree that the price doesn't go with the materials.
I didn't mind 199 for the original with D2. I thought the innovation justified the price.
I would not recommend pocket carry. If you do, don't carry anything else in that pocket. Thjs is coming from a guy who was cut twice reaching past the knife for my keys.
Not sure I would "wave" it from my pocket because, unlike a regular knife, the blade is still in your pocket if you deploy it that way. You might cut your pocket...or something worse.

    • @lincolnpascual

And is principally a Defensive edged weapon !
Too, this knife carried in your Jean pants pocket, will automatically deploy when pulled out of the pocket !
    Extremely quick deployment !
Just as if it were a sheathed fixed blade !
    Tremendous !
    IMHO !
    Addendum :
I disagree with it being called a pocket Hog !
It tucks very nicely into the furthest corner recess of your pants pocket, easily out of the way !

All the versions are way over priced. For the same price as the aluminum and D2 version you could get a Spyderco manix 2 in maxamet steel. And in terms of the one you reviewed there are so many knives with much better materials at the same price point. The only reason CRKT sells them for the prices they do is the "cool factor" of how it opens. And frankly if you want a self defence knife and are dead set on a karambit just buy a fox. Again they're materials are better, they have the wave or bramp, the standard models are way cheaper and they come with by far the best factory edge I have ever seen. I'm talking an N690co blade with a close to mirror polished edge that can cut a held hair. And you can get that for anywhere from like $120ish to $180ish. I thought about getting one of those but the price points are a huge turnoff.

Karambits aren't meant to slice, they are meant to rip and tear. They are intended to grab into flesh and control the limb said flesh is attached to. The design is the result of trying to emulate the claw of a tiger. And in that regard, it does the job exceptionally well. As someone who has both encountered and used a karambit in its intended role, I can vouch that with proper training, there isn't a better compact bladed weapon for hurting human beings in a way they will forever remember. The huge scar across my left arm is proof of that.
And wow, huge overuse of the word tactical.... it's basically an industry buzzword that doesn't actually mean anything. Most folks in the Military/LEO community don't actually use that word, except for ironically. IDK if that's your intention (doesn't sound like it is) but yeah... you're not doing yourself any favors throwing that word around so much.

...its, primarily, a self defense knife. Hundreds of years of being a self defense knife. It's not an edc knife even though it can be used as one. You don't use a gallon of milk to mow your lawn. These reviews are usually good but you can't compare something you know nothing about to something you have expertise in. This is one of the best folding karambits on the market. @@InLakech_AlaKin id like to see what you think is a good brand for that price range then. Of course something like benchmade is better but those are easily over $200 each

I’d rather spend over $200 for steel that will last a generation rather under for something that may fail in a few years of real time use.

i think people is just really wrong believing Karambits are for EDC. Huge no. The only use and intention of a karambit is for self defense. Karambits aren’t really for slicing, they are meant to rip and tear. Yeah, you can use a Karambit as an EDC, but it’s not their purpose and you can’t really make a review focusing on that. If you want an EDC, there are many good knives out there. But this Karambit is just for self defense and for that purpose, this one right here is an amazing knive and fulfills it’s purpose exceptionally well.
