    I think your teaching style is wonderful. I don't hear any long pauses. I love how you break down a difficult move into it's basic components and point out the key points. And you make skating fun.

    OMG to wake up to this video this morning is gold! I paid floor tax last night trying to pivot turn on my shop floor - the same floor that sells and repairs mowers - ie the floor is coated in oil and you can slip at any moment and land on a chainsaw :( oh what I would give to skate on your rink and better still take a lesson. Bucket list trip for this Aussie xx

    I've been skating for about 30 years but am embarrassingly bad considering. I can do this transition pretty easily on my dominant side front or back but, after years of being stagnant & now that I'm deliberately focusing, I'm only just _now_ forcing myself to do it weak side as well. The shakiness I feel underscores just how little I know about what the dominant side has more organically learned. It's been getting better, but what you mentioned about the initial turn out via the back outside edge will make a world of difference despite it being such a small details. I'm learning it really is the little things. Thanks.

      I agree with you with the dominant side versus the non dominant side I had my right knee replaced 16 months ago and I’ve been back skating 10 months of the 16, because my passion for skating is so intense and just want to get better than I’ve ever been. Wasn’t able to skate for a very very long time. Now I can again, thank you for sharing. And thanks @dirty

    Thank you so much - yes, been wrestling with this for AGES!!!! It feels choppy and clunky. Putting the weight on the opposite leg to direction of turn and getting on that outside edge is the key. Gonna go practice!! Thank you :)

    So funny to hear you talk about the feedback you've gotten about pregnant pauses or your voice being annoying to some people, when I just feel right at home with your whole dynamic. I am a So. CA mama by birth though, so maybe I just get it, because I'm out here on the east coast now, and people think I communicate/talk very differently, with preggo pauses and being very animated etc. It must be a cultural cadence thing, lol. Still, thanks for all you do! I skated as a kid and just picked it up again now almost 20 years later over the last 5 or so months, got the Sure Grip Fames per your advice, awesome choice btw, I love them! I went all in and signed up for derby and have been eating up practice time at the local skate park since. I still don't know a TON, most of what I have learned is from binge watching your tutorials in anticipation of my skates coming in the mail. Every second of practice makes a difference, and I've had SO much improvement that I've now got tenured derby skaters asking how I'm doing stuff, and I've been practicing intensively for only the last 2 months. I try to practice 3X a week for 2 hrs outside our 2x a week derby practices, and I could not have gotten in touch with my skate flow without just going and skating to some tunes and tuning the world out. Thanks for your amazing dynamic breakdown of all the different moves so we can get them down pat and then stylize. If you're looking for ideas for other tutorial videos, I would love love love for you to do some breakdowns of the numbered moves they do when group/jam skating. I watched a vid where they showed #1-22 of each 'form', where there's generally enough steps in each sequence to cover the straightaway and then they call the next move for the group on the turn, but they go WAY too fast for my brain to break it down. 😭 I wanna be badass like this too Dirty, with all the multi-mohawking, crazy leg kicking, swaperdoodle stomping, backwards crossover foot action.....even if you could just tackle the basic elements of some of these moves and how to string these different types of moves together. Can you makes it happen mama?!?! xoxo -Frenchie The Jam Skate video I'm talking about: ruclips.net/video/97ySPkjL7S0/видео.htmlsi=QH-SA5Z9SySHbFz0

    so many of my skating hang ups are not being able to comprehend that its not always on a straight path for many things. i failed to learn 3 point turns for ages before i realised what they were even called and that thier name indicated the motion your wheels go. i still cant 3 point but now i know what to work on lmao

    Hello Deborah...I discovered that my skates are off balance...one wheel is lower than the others. Instead of buying some used I'm looking at something substantial...The sure grips fame vs Ridell Angels...what are you personal thoughts or do you have a better idea...Like Sure Grips Malibu, but I want something for indoor skating. Any thoughts

    I've been skating for almost 3 years and still can't make this turn seamlessly. I know what I'm doing incorrectly, and that's placing my foot too far away from my other one when I make the turn. They're in an L shape, not a spread eagle, but what I'm doing is reaching far behind me, and my heels aren't very close. They're this shape I _ 😮‍💨I can't wait to try again next time I'm at the rink!

    But see your not going in a straight line it's like a mini turn before you turn. I've been skating for 4 months now and have been struggling so bad with this. Like if you are turning clockwise, your are already going to the left to form the V in the feet. And in previous videos I thought it was supposed to be straight line. I was trying to practice this in Atlanta and I kept getting cut by kids trying to be cool cutting the corners. And dodging kids going in the opposite direction. Wasn't a good time last time.

    • @Dirtydeborahharry
      @Dirtydeborahharry  9 месяцев назад +4

      Okay I hope I understand your comment correctly. You do not have to be in a straight line. We are on wheels and we are using our center line as an axis. If we use our body weight and our ability to lean, we can make these turns without having to place our heels in a direct line.

    • @dilliot2k
      @dilliot2k 9 месяцев назад

      I think i understand . It looks like the turning has started before you raise the oposit foot.
