WTH is wrong with FORD?
In a word? Leadership. That begs the question, is this leadership the right one to lead Ford forward?
I've come to the conclusion that Ford, at least for the last 50 years, has waffled between two leadership styles.
The first is to "hunker down" and focus (no pun intended) on quality. Remember, they used the Quality is Job 1 slogan for a long time building boring cars, and during the 80's managed to stabilize their marketshare while GM was in FreeFall.
The second is to "expand". Sometimes that models, adding outside companies like when they formed Premier Auto Group, or the current move to EVs. When this happens, they seem to have a scatter-shot approach without building real synergy and let quality fall by the wayside.
That's what they're going through now.
