Very nice seat... Great support design, simple, minimal, elegant...
I have to say I'd be lying if I didn't admit to a good laugh when the door skin prototype broke, but "the make it and break it" point is well taken..
Working on mahogany and center lines vs offsets, more coloured pencils would help. White for layout, green centerlines, red offsets etc...
Nice piping bag trick, oh the many uses of butcher paper...
An American company called Grex tools sells Stainless pins in various lengths but I believe 23 gauge is the smallest diam. These are also available on Ebay
Cheers Eric
Best shop apron on RUclips!
I agree and am hoping that some day in the future Mark does a video or two on its design and construction.
Like the seat-box/console design.
Hav eyou tought of adding a small access panel on the fron, so that the space under the seat could be used as storage area
As this boat is purely for racing, there is no need for any storage.
@@Nomadboatbuilding yes, after seeing the completed seat, it makes totally sense
Learning a lot from you 👍
Good to hear Henri.
Do not forget you will need a small sump as the 2.4's are a "wet boat" Can be electric pump.
Great video makes one to get a 2.4
Yup. It will have an electric as well as a manual gusher.
Check out a company called Fastener USA. They sell stainless steel pins. They’re not cheap, but they won’t rust…
I'm not a boat right but have done some in the past I thought you would do a 4 points hammock type of suspension on the seat to make it really flexible/floating in the cockpit
The customer is taking the lead on these details.
Understandable was just a thought and suggestion I'm enjoying the build THANKS for sharing 👍
"if women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy." 😊
From the philosopher Red Green👍
I have always wondered why the skippers lean on the leeward cockpit edge rather than have a seat that tilts them to the windward. Moving their CG 8 to 12 inches to windward is significant in such a small boat. Is that against the rules? I wouldn't think the view of the jib leach is important. I think they set the jib camber and play the main sheet and tiller.
BTW I like that the interior is starting as classy as the exterior. In industry we call these "A surfaces" and because of their ability to influence quality perceptions.
I don’t believe there are any rules against it but accommodations is these boats is pretty rudimentary.
Hey Mark, there is a company called Grex which has the ss pins you can find them on amazon there relatively inexpensive .
I think I tried ordering some a while back but they were unavailable for some reason.
There are plastic pins available, which are brilliant for strip planking or veneer work as they don't damage edge tools.
I just wish the guns for them were a little cheaper. They cost pretty close to $400 to get them here in Canada.
@@Nomadboatbuilding Raptor plastic nails/brads/ staples, can fit standard guns, no need for the expensive ones. Thanks for the up load, been following from the start. been sailing or involved in some manner now for more than 55 years, built 6 sailboats, now into a power boat, but have one more sailboat to build which is Paul Gartside's "Riff". Best wishes from New Zealand.
@@leswheeler2023 I didn’t know raptors will work in regular guns! Fantastic. Thanks for the tip.
@@Nomadboatbuilding get a box of brads to try, not all guns are created equal
Have you personally tried this? Do they work with both the headed brads and headless pins?
Wouldn't some of that expando foam on the seat frame work ?
I'm not sure what you mean by using it on the seat frame?
My husband would like to learn about this
From an Australian perspective... a stick on the ice sounds painful. Crazy Canadians.
Surprised you didn’t go for a Eames Worlds Most Comfortable Chair 🪑🙊
Can’t be having the skipper drift off into a nap.
@@Nomadboatbuilding 🧐 agreed can’t have the skipper all at sea, Barcelona chair then 🤪
