      NOTE 5: Presently available test equipment limits path lengths to approximately 50-mm minimum and 15-m maximum, depending, in part, upon the frequency and intensity of the generated signal. The upper limit of the path length depends partly on surface conditions and partly on the characteristics of the interior concrete under investigation. A preamplifier at the receiving transducer may be used to increase the maximum path length that can be tested. The maximum path length is obtained by using transducers of relatively low resonant frequencies (20 to 30 kHz) to minimize the attenuation of the signal in the concrete. (The resonant frequency of the transducer assembly determines the frequency of vibration in the concrete.) For the shorter path lengths where loss of signal is not the governing factor, it is preferable to use resonant frequencies of 50 kHz or higher to achieve more accurate transit-time measurements and hence greater sensitivity.

    Slab thickness 200 . Slab sagged up tob160mm.due to bad support. Size of slab 5x3mtrs ots area... What tests to be done to know sagged portion slab quality is goo or bad

      Dear very good question, If there is no crack on the top & bottom of the slab, then you can test the quality of the concrete by cutting the core of the concrete and test the compressive strength as per your mix design of concrete required strength..

    I think if we square the velocity(m/s) and then multiply it by the density of concrete we will get the modulus of elasticity of concrete in N/m^2 🤔
    Because the velocity is also expressed as V=√(E/density)
    For V=4.010 km/sec. , It comes out to be 39339694 kg/mm^2 in compression.

      Density = 24KN/m^3 = (24×1000)/(9.81×1000^3) = 2.44 × 10^(-6) kg/mm^3
      Velocity in the test = 4.010 km/sec. = 4.010 ×1000×1000 mm/sec.
      This quantity comes out to be huge (39339694 kg/mm^2) .
      The actual relation which i recently learned was between initial tangent modulus of elasticity ,mass density of concrete, poissons ratio and velocity of pulse is given as
      E= [p(1+u)(1-2u)V^2]/(1-u)
      p = mass density of concrete = 2500 kg/m^3
      u = poissons ration = 0.1-0.3
      V= velocity of pulse by UPV test.
