I don’t know if you remember but I commented on your last drill weekend video 7 months ago mentioning how I was in the process of enlistment into the FL ANG. I am proud to say I enlisted in March of 2021 and am leaving for basic and tech school in December. I’ve been in student flight and have loved my short time in so far. Congrats on your career since you’re separating soon!
that's so great! and I do remember, congrats to you and best of luck!
I’m about to graduate from Aircraft Mechanic college earn my A/P and enlist in March 2022!
Jacksonville? If so i got some questions!
How is your experience so far as in FL ANG?
After my first four years of active duty I did another 17 with the air guard. Great decision for me. I don’t miss getting up at 5 am and driving 70 miles but it was a good ride. Highly recommend people who are interested look into it.
I joined the marines. Holy crap did I make a mistake. 😢. Seriously no regrets. That was 30+ years ago. But this is a totally different lifestyle. Love all the services. 😊

thank you Vanessa!
OOORAH troop, keep up the great work, MSgt. Jim Griffin, Sec Police, USAF, Ret.......quickest 20 years of my life, so far.
I joined the ARMY but MEPS was on a Air Force Base, and they gave us those box lunches. It wasn't bad. Same stuff. Sandwich, cookie, chips, a fruit, and condiments, with lettuce and tomato in a separate bag. I think it was only a bottle of water, no juice. ...yeah food, that's what I'm commenting about. 😂 Have a nice day!
Thanks for your service and this also goes to anyone who has served
Thank you for the video! I’ll be joining possibly soon , I see you’re also in nh which just so happens to be where I’ll be joining! very informative thank you.
Hi! I just recently applied to join the reserve and watching your video makes inspired to keep going and look forward to joining soon.
Thank You for Your Service
Good to see this. I'm moving over to the guard after 12 years in AD. I already got a good bit of insight, but it's still good to actually see what it's like.
Good luck!
I joined the Army National Guard at 17 in 1963 ( one wk. before Kennedy's assassination) & served 6 years!
I tried to join the Air Guard first & took the AFQT with a score of 85, but they had a long waiting list, even then!
The difference: Air Guard serves one weekend a month, while Army Guard served 4-4 hour drills per month!
The experience is good for young persons to gain maturity, but get few if any "Veteran's" benefits! It's not fair!
I'm thinking about joining the ANG and these are exactly the type of videos I'd wanna see. Love to see at a high level what its like and what someone goes through on a average day once you're in
thank you Jaz!
Go active duty.. thank me later
@@conorbrown5399 im reserve and pay for active duty would be half of what I make in civilian.

Any tips to pass the ASVAB test? I failed my first try
Great video. Good overview of a drill day. Outstanding editing skills.
Thank you!
This is actually genuinely good information. I'm waiting for a ship date to go active and the air force is all I can think about lately. It's interesting to hear/see about air national guard so thank you!
You. Are. *Very* cute, by the way. I hope that's not offensive...
I loved this, my younger sister has been in the Army since October and my older sister has been in the Navy for a couple years so I started thinking about somewhere I could fit in
the Air Force seems like a good place to me
Very well made video....just beautiful ! !
Thank you!!
You make it look so easy
4 years AD was enough for me but it was worth it. Good luck with everything in the next phase of your life
I'm retired Air Guard. It's an amazing career.
Loved the video! Very informative. Any advice for someone with no prior service experience wanting to join the ANG at 28 years old? Thank you!!!
This is the most airforce video of any airforce video you could ever make 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆( prior army guard, af reserves, current af guard)
List your army guard experience VS air guard for people looking to decide on which one they will join please
Preparing for my test this month. I wish I’ll make it.
this video motivated me to enlist.. thank you so much
thank you! and best of luck
I was an Aircraft Structural Mechanic 2A7X3 (Sheet Metal) for 7.5 years and retrained to be a Cyber Intelligence Analyst 1N4X1A that I have been doing 7 years now. Miss the flight line some days.
the flight line is the best place to be, I can see why you miss it from time to time. Intel sounds pretty dope too tho
Ik i'm late, but i work at the mess and when we did the sandwich bags, we pretty much put in the bag everything you had. instead of cookies, we had poptarts. i can't remember what else we had, but bought back memories. i do hope to join the ang. :D
haha that's awesome. hope things are going well for you
Im thinking about joining. Thank you for your video!
Good luck!
Love the humor
God bless you all man

Thank you Sydney!
Hi. A nice video. Are you based in Anchorage, Alaska? I’ve been there. I stayed in Anchorage, Alaska for a few days back in 2018 on a vacation from Maryland. I flew in, stayed, enjoyed it and flew out. Alaska is beautiful, wildlife state . I’m in my early 40s now. If I was younger, I would join the Air Force Reserves or Navy Reserves too. Lots of benefits being a military reservist. I hope you have a nice overall reservist experience. Good luck. 🇺🇸
I'm currently in the process of joining the air national guard so it's awesome to stumble upon your videos right now! I was just wondering what your experience with deployments has been. Are your tasks still mainly career based? What amount of your deployments have been for natural disasters/humanitarian relief? If you can answer my questions (or if anyone else reading this can) it would be greatly appreciated!
With deployments you are typically sent on a mission that correlates with your job. If you are helping with the state, for disasters and humanitarian relief and things of that sort, your assignment is often unrelated to your job but is always something that is trainable and easy to pick up
Please I am about to join the NG, but I am curious to know about deployment and being active in NG. Are we gonna be deployed outside the U.S or just within the state?

haha sounds like I can't complain too much
I was active duty for just over 4 years. I’ve been out for 2 and a half. There’s a bigger part of me than I expected that misses it 😂 now in looking into the guard but would like a different AFSC to try something new. I’m basically doing my past afsc as a civilian now.
I miss it too from time to time haha but yeah you can definitely pick a new afsc if you don't mind going to another tech school. might be good to switch things up
Great video- very informative as I’m researching joint NH ANG. I would be joining as an officer as I have a degree from UNH. JW- are you enlisted level or officer? Thank you for your service.

I love your content! I’m waiting to go to MEPS and it’s been like 4 months since my ASVAB… was your experience the same?
I took my ASVAB while at MEPS…but it did take a few months to leave for basic training after that
And thank you!! I appreciate that.
@@clarekirste I took PiCat and waiting to take ASVAB at MEPs but I’ve been waiting so it’s veryyyyyy nerve wrecking
@@nakharininmontana6475 it's been a while since i've taken the ASVAB, which I was able to do right out of high school, which helped a lot. however, I know there are some resources out there to help study for it. Quizlet may even have some flashcards already built. I am sure you'll do great, especially if the PiCat went well
I’m enlisted in the USAF Reserves out in California. I’m waiting to attend my D&TF at March ARB.
How is it? Im from cali too and was thinking of joining the national guard
Is there a Minimum Enlistment Requirement (years) that is required for the Guard? Or is it dependent on the role you choose?
6 years is standard for the Air Guard
I’ve been looking into joining the air national guard heavily recently and thought about being a hydraulic mechanic. Could you go into more depth about that job you had?
Jack of all trades master of none but still better then a master of one
I'd join for the Capri sun if we're being honest.
I’m coming for ARNG, 6 years in, thought about Air Force active duty for next enlistment due to my brother being a loadmaster full time, I’m excited to start the journey to go from soldier to airman☺️
I hope you switched over to the good side!
@@clarekirste … I gave the army another 18 months, 12 of it to a deployment that I’m halfway through!

So I saw snippets of Alaska, even saw you at Market Basket but i saw Maine on a bridge sign, were you TDY to JBER? I was stationed at Eielson but also grew up in Alaska??
do you have Market Basket in Alaska? All of this footage was either Maine or NH. No Alaska, although that would be cool
We used to but the local family that owned them(3-4) changed the store name and parent company affiliation. It might have been a coincidence with the name because after researching the “east coast” chain they apparently have had no stores in Alaska. BTW, the reason I thought you might have been in Alaska was because of the hotel signs you showed, one sign appears to say “Anchorage…” which is the largest town in Alaska and is home to JBER(Elmendorf AFB/ Fort Richardson), it was probably a hotel sign with reference to the nautical term “anchorage”! So I hope you had a good career, I spent 10, 6 of which were active duty and my primary AFSC was “security”! I have 27.5 years in public safety and medically retired in 96’ from the fire service/EMS side. Thanks for your videos! rt
Much respect, I am 17 and am considering joining the National Guard any advice you would give me starting out?
Reach out to me @clarekirste on instagram and we can chat! I hope things are going well. more Air Force content coming soon
Hello! Thank you for your service and this video. I am interested in joining the air national guard. Is security forces an option? Will I still be part time?
Yes, if you join an Air National Guard unit, it is more than likely that they will have security forces and it will be part-time. the only time it would be full-time is if you join active duty air force
"hey, they finally gave you a window to look out"qote/unquote!!
Quick question, is it really two weeks a year or is it more than that?
Hydraulic mechanic? Do you use SKYDROL? Nasty stuff don't get it in your skin or eyes. I did a field trip in El Salvador for 3 days and I was covered in that junk and it was hot down there. I served in the Marines in 82-85. Different gas mask. Different boots. Hey. Are you based in PEASE AFB? Cool vid.
Just discovered your channel and I subscribed. Is there a way that you can do a video about how to get in shape for BMT? I'm really out of shape but I want to condition so that I can join.
Thank you for subscribing! That's a great idea for a video
@@clarekirste cool video! 😎
I just applied for a entry level aircraft mechanic for the air national guard. I’m wondering how the process is like? Do we have to do combat training before we start the position? Are we considered soldiers? Do we have to go into active duty? Are the positions like regular 9-5pm’s where we can go home afterwards? Are we enlisted or deployed by default? Can we live in an apartment or hotel if we don’t want to live on the base? If we don’t live on the base is it covered or are we reimbursed? I apologize for the all the questions, I’m just pretty new to the military.
As with any military branch, you can be deployed by the president wherever and whenever, really. Especially war times. You are a part of the military, period. And to my knowledge, you will do basic boot camp training and gun play. Nothing too crazy like the navy or army. But i mean it’s a need to know just in case.
That box nasty is what I used to eat on a daily 😂😂😂
Don't guess they are weighing in people today. 🤣
A simple black coffee at Starbucks works for me.

Wow can’t believe that you wore a boot within a boot 👢
What helped you study for the asvab and are you considering reenlisting? If so why or why not?
I actually didnt study for the ASVAB but I had just graduated high school and so a lot of the material was still fresh
I am not reenlisting. It was a good foundation for my life but I am ready for other professional and personal goals

Quick question for the officer route, do you need just a bachelors degree OR can you also have 90 college credits?
Need a bachelors preferably a STEM degree
I’ve always wondered how enlisted RUclipsrs like yourself are able to get around any security clearances they might have.
Well it comes down to knowing the rules, and only sharing what is already public knowledge
How many years were u in and have u been deployed
Just wondering, is it possible to live in one state and be in the ANG in another state? I’m currently AD and having trouble finding some answers!
I was wondering that as well haha
Yes you can, and for a time I lived in VA and still drilled in NH. But I was responsible for my own travel. they do not pay for you to travel to drill
What state are you on for the air national guard?
So pretty
Here in Arizona drill starts at 6:00 am 💀
yikes
@@clarekirste right lol. I been out of the guard for about a year and a half now.. kinda miss it tbh
Are you in Newburgh, NY?
Hii God bless you i wanna enjoying the military but confused which branch I should choice ,,,?
Air Force always haha
Hey there Clare. Is there a way you can be in the air national guard and still go to college full time?
Yes
The only caveat to that is you are subject to deploying at any point throughout the semester/school year. Start school in Aug but may get deployed in October. There is usually several months notice for a standard AEF rotation deployment but there may be a short notice contingency deployment that may mess up your semester.
Yes, and a lot of people do. the ANG is part-time so you can have other full-time jobs or go to school full-time as well
Do u think now that there is a air guard the Marines and Navy will create there own???
They have the reserves, which is similar
Do you have mre in the air national guard?😊
Does anyone know if I complete army ocs do I have to goto ots also ?if I switch branches after my contract is up
I think you don't have to redo school
If you smart and want paid to vacation with 5 star boarding hotels and best meals out of all military branches join the Air Force.
what are the differences between the AF reserve &. ANG. ? ?
one major difference is that the guard is both state and federally run, so you can be called up for both state and federal needs. reserve units are attached to active duty units usually
A Guardsman can work for either their Governor or the President. An AF Reservist will only work for the President.
Would you recommend doing security forces in the air national guard?
A lot of guarding things and it might get a little boring but if I hadn't gone maintenance I would have done Security Forces. I'd say yes!
Hi there did you have training on this before the military
no i had no prior knowledge of aircraft maintenance before joining
Is it hard to get into the Air National Guard ??? I’m deciding between the air guard or army national guard .
Really depends on your test scores and what job you're looking to get into. Physically I would think the army is more demanding. I would go Air guard all the way tho
Can i am join tu militery air forcer USA?
Tbh I only recently found out about the national air guard, I really wanna become a pilot, but in all honesty I can’t decide between the marines and Air Force, I want to be able to travel, don’t want to sit at a desk.
