On Saturday Night Wrist why are some of the songs using a A# and D# as the high 2 strings? For a couple songs on that album Steph uses F# C# F# B E A# D# instead of F# C# F# B E G# C#. And I cannot for the life of me figure out why. It seems for many of his songs he's rarely using those 2 strings, especially the highest string/lightest gauge string. Hopefully someone knows why he changes the tuning on those 2 high strings. The songs he uses the A# and D# as the high 2 strings are Hole In the Earth, Rapture, possibly others but he hasn't uploaded a playthrough of all of this album yet. Hexagram I think he also uses the A# and D# on the 2 high strings as well if I remember correctly from the playthrough.
Stef has many mysteries to his playing. I can’t say why exactly but, probably to be in the right key for certain songs. Probably to make those open strings sound right with the rest of the tuning.
Usually by watching live performances and getting an idea of where Stef is on the guitar and figuring it out by ear. Stef has also released a playthrough of this song.

I love this song so much, but the timing seems super tricky.
It’s a little in some spots but with enough practice it gets easier.
what gauge string do you use?
For my 7 string I’m using 70-10
