  • This is a brief video showing the sound system upgrade in this HSV VF GTS.
    This supercharged LSA V8 has a great sound on the outside so it was time to get the inside sounding just as good!
    Hertz Cento series speakers and subs were installed including:
    - Pair of CK165
    - Pair of CX165
    - Pair of CS300S4
    - HCP4D 4 Channel Amplifier
    - HCP1D Monoblock Amplifier
    Finished off with a simple false wall with yellow accents to tie it all together.
    Much better sound now and much louder!

  • @MrJ1zza

    Gotta ask bro, what's the reason for the choice of aero ports over slot?
    Super clean build man!

    • @D2iAuto
      @D2iAuto  3 года назад +1

      There's 2 reasons for round ports over slot. First one is simplicity. These subs don't need a whole lot of port area so 2x 100mm ports kept velocity down below 30m/s and is much easier and quicker to build.
      Second reason is round ports have less boundary layer, meaning more accurate port area to what is calculated slot ports especially rectangular ports have the worst design for port area as there is more surface area on the wall of the port which is more friction which increases boundary layer therefore decreasing port area. Admittedly this isn't the reason I chose round ports for this build but it is definitely a reason you would choose round over slot.
      Thanks for the kind words :)

      @MrJ1zza 3 года назад +1

      @@D2iAuto thanks man, thats a perfect explanation. Definitely makes a lot of sense and it certainly would be easier to calculate velocity and i guess being a standard 100mm tuning just means cutting to length.
      Thanks for taking the time to reply

    Hi. I'm just curious how did you run the wire through gommet. I tried on my VF but didnt seem easy and didnt want to disrupt any other thing so just connected my amp directly to factory speaker wire. My speakers are only 40w rms. I assume factory wire can handle this much safely?

    • @D2iAuto
      @D2iAuto  Год назад

      It will be fine to handle that. Getting wiring through the grommet on a VF is easier than a lot of other cars there is a decent amount of room compared to many other vehicles but yeah the factory wiring can handle it fine

    Looking at subwoofers now for my BMW...how does Hertz compare to JL, Kicker, Sundown, Orion and other brands?

    • @D2iAuto
      @D2iAuto  3 года назад +2

      Like many brands there are different levels for different quality of products.
      Hertz has ranges that compete very well against JL Audio.
      I would personally say Hertz and JL audio are of higher quality from an SQ perspective than the other brands mentioned but it depends what your goal is. Sundown typically is good for large excursion Orion has similar effects.
      It all comes down to what your end goal is and budget.
      i sell a variety of brands including Kicker, JL, Hertz, Morel, MTX, Kenwood, JVC, etc etc.
      I will constantly recommend different products based on a customers desires as both budget and final outcome play a huge part in what you choose.
      For example for an SQ car i would sell Morel Speakers and subs as they have speakers that go up to $8700 AUD a pair but if the goal is as loud as possible and no sq desire than Kicker would do that far more efficiently so all comes down to end goal

      Yes factory unit and sub level can be controlled through bass level controller I didn't fill any of that though as it's just a "bass knob"

  • @tjarman2605

    Nice job but why wouldn't u hide the wiring on the amps and power wire under the carpet. And the rca im sure u can hide that better or get shorter one.

    • @D2iAuto
      @D2iAuto  3 года назад +1

      There is no need to hide it as it's not visible due to the false wall.
      Plus there is no wheel well in the GTS has a full plastic plate under carpet so that's just added thickness .
      And the rcas are the shortest I stock 0.9m could get custom made ones but when these work and it's all hidden there isn't much point for the price point and gain.

    • @D2iAuto
      @D2iAuto  3 года назад

      I do agree though that it is not "neat" so to speak behind the wall though but for the budget and intention of having the wiring the way it is, it performs adequately and doesn't hinder the final aesthetic :)

    • @tjarman2605

    How much would something like this install cost??

    • @D2iAuto
      @D2iAuto  3 года назад

      Hi,
      What vehicle are you wanting it priced for?
      Factory head unit or aftermarket,
      What budget on equipment do you have?
      What is the end goal you have? Loud and clear, Amazing sound, Extreme bass, Show style install or wanting to lose some room?
      How much sound deadening do you want to do ( if any)
      As a real rough idea a similar install in this same car with similar gear will cost around the 4-5k mark give or take

      @@D2iAuto What would the cost be on a setup like this be in a VE Commodore?

    • @D2iAuto
      @D2iAuto  2 года назад

      @@liamgoodman9213 same as above, it depends on equipment and lots of other variables.
      VE series 1 I'd recommend changing head unit S the factory one has rubbish output and then you don't need line out converters or signal correction as badly.
      But car audio comes down to what you want to spend could do this same setup with $200 front speakers or same again with $8900 front speakers so prices can completely change depending on the overall budget and desired outcome

    • @D2iAuto

      All comes down to what equipment is used and what not but for this exact setup off the top of my head somewhere around 3-4k fitted from memory might have been less but that's ballpark anyway really depends on equipment can go lower tier or much higher as well so all comes down to budget
