I was 17 years old when I got to Vietnam-1966 through 1969 (My mom had to sign a waiver for me), I grew up fast and learned a lot, good and bad. (I am now 73 and still learning). I was stationed on the USS Providence and also stationed in Country at a place called "Monkey Mountain" close to DaNang,. I spent 3 tours of duty in and around Vietnam. 3 of my high school friends were killed in Vietnam, I was spared. I participated in the TET Offensive in Feb 1968, that was bad. Somewhere along the way I was exposed to Agent Orange (Nasty Stuff) I am now on disability for the effects of agent orange. When I was discharged and came home to the States we arrived in San Francisco, and there were a lot of protesters spitting on us and throwing rocks and eggs and called us baby killers. That was our welcome home. I tell you this to say to you, that whatever your position is or was on the Vietnam war, it was not the veteran who got us into the war, most of us went because we were patriots and loved our country. Blame the politicians, yes, but not the veteran. To all Vietnam Vets out there, you are not forgotten. As a previous combat Vet myself, I salute you my friend.

I understand how you feel when you get Agent Orange because in Vietnam they also have many people infected with Agent Orange after the war.
Good to see that you made it back. Actually, I am jealous of your three tours. I only extended once but left early on my second tour when I received special orders. We may have crossed paths. However, I spent most of my time in the central highlands. If you took R & R, where did you go? Too bad about your Agent Orange exposure. I visited a high school friend in Long Binh for a couple of weeks but had to return to Pleiku and Kon Tum for TET. He came home with PTSD. Bottom line you are still here and can appreciate the music.
19 when I went to Nam - spent two tours there as did my brother - and we both made it back. Life is funny, we both were married over 40 years and both our wives died of cancer. Today I listen to these songs for memories and forgotten times. Btw, we were both Army.
I was born in 1962 and grew up with these songs and still love them. I didn't understand the war, but I watched my friend's brother's leave. Some returned, some didn't. Thank you to all who served and especially the ones who didn't make it. 🇺🇸

Funny how the same jerks that called returning vets " baby killers " now push killing babies. I was born in62 also. My dad was a POW in WWII so I have a huge respect for vets. Want to blame war and the problems with it on someone? Look at the politicians first.

Born in 1949, joined the USAF in 1969 and these were the songs of my time! Amazing how they take me back to a time when I was just a young one thinking that I was bulletproof. Turned out that I was. Now my body says not quite so, but my memories of that time are crystal clear!

My dad got drafted in 64, and served till 68..he was in Vietnam from 67 to 68..he rarely speaks about Vietnam, hes 76 yrs old now, and I grew up with the best dad..I do have some awards from him when he was at ft.benning

I'm a teenager, for some reason whenever I hear about vietnam it hits hard. I have friends and relatives you served in vietnam. The music is great, I find it interesting to hear the vets talk about there experiences. Sad to think if it was born back then I would be there now. Might not have made it back. I am a 1996 child, but I grew up with this music. My mom served in the Army during Desert Storm, she loved music so I got to hear an eclectic variety of music and these were always my favorites. I having an unmeasurable about of love and respect for those who serve and have served. To all who serve or served thank you Immensely for your service and your sacrifice.

Honor to the Veterans of this senseless war(?) that accomplish NOTHING but pain Anguish and Grief for millions! It was My life then and affected me Greatly to this Day. Lost several Friends , nothing but boys! Then those that came "home", I became dear good friends ,were treated horribly and I've watched in heartbreak how they SUFFER till today. Agent Orange took out 4 brilliant men in the 80s-90s! No one alive THEN ,can hear these songs and NOT be Transported back to this era and all it was and Always will be , nothing but a sad Reminder, " War, Good God Y'all, whats it good for? I was born mid 70s, but love Vietnam era music. I should have fought as a Green Beret. Instead, I served during the Cold War.
Whenever ppl learn that I served in Russia, they always say "I didn't know that we had a Military Base in Russia." I reply "only in the basement of our Embassy..."

DaNang Air Base ‘70 - ‘71 this music never gets old was the best period for music. I remember these song very well from listing to them all the time while drinking beer.

When it came time for me to serve I enlisted in the Navy, went to boot camp at the Lakes, A-School in Mississippi, then did paperwork for the new recruits in Orlando.
The Viet Cong never got anywhere near Disney World.

.crazy thing to do.My buddie David was draftrd and he wanted to go to nam went to medic school than to counrty.His platoon went on a mission he was left behind.A medic why ? Base camp was over run a nd he was killed.buthered beyond recognition .I could never understand why he didnt go with his platoon ????
