This fight was the perfect encapsulation of the quote: "A Dictator Dictates, A Leader Leads." One sat on the sidelines, and had nobody willing to step in to help at the end because they never stepped in to help their troops, while the other practically had to wait in line for his troops to stop protecting him before reciprocating in kind. Even if the winner had actually lost, I think we can all agree he would have lost in a manner that is perfectly in character for him. Easily one of the best battles in the series history.

They're the *only* ones who both _Can_ and more importantly _Would be Willing_ to step in and tank a hit for Eggman or otherwise actively provide support for him. Every other robot is programmed just to fight unless he specifically orders them otherwise. Meanwhile, Bowser received assistance from Kamek (multiple times), Bowser Jr (multiple times), and King Boo (once). But ultimately when it mattered most, at the very end of the battle, and someone showing up to save Eggman was a matter of victory or death, who still had an army to back him up? Someone to cover him? Not Eggman, that's for sure.
@@reggielacey2235 That proves OP's point even more. Metal Sonic and Sage were dictated by Eggman to do his bidding. Metal Sonic CARRIED because he did most of the leg work when he arrived to grab the Phantom Ruby. Sage was *almost* the saving grace for Eggman, but failed to recognize that there were so many abilities that they couldn't think about. For example, the Grand Star being used through rage, Bowser turning into Dry Bowser after he tanked the laser beam or even Chance Time. In MANY, if not all, of the scenes, Bowser was on the front lines fighting off the enemies with his people and protecting them at all costs. No matter the struggle, he was there. Eggman can't say the same at all. We BARELY saw him. Only when he was in a power struggle or close to death.
The newest Mario and Luigi game really shows how much the koopa troop cares for each other when Bowser jr. offers a bounty for the two. Said bounty is one coin in memory of every minion "defeated" by them and is *over 98 million*
It's always funny to see Mario RPG stories with Koopa Troop PoVs since they almost always make it clear that Bowser and his leadership are not even remotely evil in the slightest, but Bowser just thinks he's evil because he thinks being evil is cool. The only reason why the Koopa Troop never held an intervention for Bowser to finally realize that he's a Lawful Good character whose unsuccessfully LARPing as a villain is because they don't want to hurt his feelings.

Makari Eggman didn't want revenge for a loved one at all.. That was Dr. Gerald Robotnik who is Eggman's Grandfather. He wanted revenge for Maria's (his granddaughter's) death. Maria is just Eggman's cousin and he honestly didn't give a shit about her. It was more like everyone ignored him because everyone cared about Maria first. Eggman never has really cared for anyone until Sage. He's a Megalomaniac who only cares about the world when it's under his thumb.
I think it was said somewhere Eggman didn't take the news of Maria's death super well despite never having met her. But even if that was true, yeah, Maria didn't really impact him to the same extent as his family. It wasn't until Sage that he started to genuinely care for someone else, unless you want to count his time as Mr. Tinker and Belle.

Idk what you mean by Sonic doing Multiverse and Parallel Universe stuff. Closest thing I can think of is the Storybook Games (Secret Rings, Black Knight) and Time travel shenanigans (Sonic 06). Storybooks are Spin-offs where Sonic is sucked into an existing Story and is then Spit back out to reality once the Story is finished. Sonic 06 Only scales up to "An Opponent Destroying Past, Present, and Future" and doesn't do Multiverse shenanigans Blaze the Cat is the only character I can think of, She's from her own Dimension. We don't know anything about it other than Blaze is a Princess from there and they Have their own Power Gems

With the way Death Battle set this up (eggman crashing the wedding), it makes it seem as if eggman had an unlimited amount of prep time while bowser had none, meaning eggman really should’ve won within 2 minutes.
I won't fault anyone for not knowing this off-hand, but IDW Publishing took over the Sonic The Hedgehog comics in 2017 after the cancellation of the Archie Comics series, and while the comics have always been their own thing, IDW does incorporate the elements of the newer games into their story and treats them as things that just happened offscreen, so in a way the comics ARE canon, it's just that the comics have always been a bit more niche of a medium. The Metal Virus arc is also one of the first story arcs put out for the IDW Sonic run, and I must say it is a FANTASTIC story. Why? Because it starts with an amnesiac Eggman being a nice old man called 'Mr Tinker', getting his memories restored by a new villain, an Eggman fanboy named Dr Starline, choosing to NOT become Eggman, and then Starline refusing to live in a world without Dr Eggman and torturing 'Mr Tinker' until he not only reverts back to being Dr Eggman, he winds up being WORSE. How? 'Oh I'll just engineer a highly infectious techno-organic virus that turns all living creatures into zombie robots, and I'll start by DUMPING IT ON THE TOWN I WAS LIVING IN AS MR TINKER! THAT will let everyone know that Dr Eggman is back, better and badder than ever!' What follows is a series of events wherein Eggman nearly converts the entire planet into 'Zombots' as part of the opening act of his comeback tour. It doesn't work, but the experience of the robot-zombie apocalypse where damn near EVERY character, including Sonic, gets infected by the Metal Virus traumatizes the whole world so thoroughly that they're all genuinely terrified of Eggman again and not just going 'Oh god, it's Tuesday again... God I hope Eggman and Sonic are fighting somewhere else today...' God I love some of the stuff that comes out of the Sonic franchise.
correction: IDW is a seperate continuity from the archie one, hence why no characters from the archie comic have appeared or been alluded to in IDW, and rather than Freedom Fighters the heroes are collectively The Restoration. IDW is meant to be more canon to the games.

On paper the comics were supposed to do just that, creating an overarching narrative of what was going on between games, but they tended to run off and kind of become their own universes after a while that weren't strictly tied to the games continuity anymore, thus the continuity between the mediums was kind of lost. IDW is more of a return to form as it is, or at least was, using all of the modern Sonic games as part of its lore and trying to maintain consistency between the games in pursuit of a larger narrative, even if stuff in the comics like the Metal Virus don't actually feature in the games.

Well, Bowser isn't ALWAYS the villain. In damn near every Mario RPG, Bowser is either a mid-boss, or he's a full-on ally. Super Mario RPG, he takes a backseat to Smithy and even joins Mario as a party member. Paper Mario? Well he's the main villain of the first Paper Mario, but he's a midboss in Thousand-Year Door overshadowed by Grodus and the Shadow Queen, and in Super Paper Mario he's an ally against the illustrious Count Bleck. Mario & Luigi? Midboss in Superstar Saga overshadowed by Cackletta, midboss in Partners In Time overshadowed by Princess Shroob, and in Bowser's Inside Story he's unwittingly teamed up with Mario and Luigi to fight Fawful, which as far as I'm concerned makes Bowser's Inside Story one of the best Mario games of all time because Bowser is damn near the main character. Although Fawful DOES kind of steal the show...

The Sonic games don’t dive into multiverse outside of Blaze’s dimension and Silver’s future. Even then they’re under utilised and there’s hardly any alternate counterparts.
Silver's future isn't an alternate dimension but rather a timeline. Multiverses are technically canon due to Sonic Prime and the discussion Tails had about it. (I think, will need to recheck. Let me know if I'm wrong) Unrelated but I really hope we get a Blaze game and explore her world
@ Aren’t alternate dimensions and timelines used as synonyms when discussing multiverses, even the Spiderverse film does it. In either scenario, you’re likely to find counterparts of characters. I the worlds in Prime were actually fragmented from the main one, so it’s not the same as the traditional multiverse, probably why it’s called a shatterverse instead. If anything, multiverse is canon via the lore in Archie comics, Sonic Boom and Underground, but the games hardly went as far as them. I also hope we get more on Blaze’s world as well as Silver’s.

Timelines are set in the same dimension with different events happening(Current Classic Sonic). Alternate dimensions can have completely different things that would never exist in the main one. Bowser is still a villain, it would probably suck to be forced to turn to bricks with my only escape being the fists of a plumber who may or may not be killing toads with that method because they can't turn back without Peach's Heart Magic. The reason she can't turn the toads back is because of the fact that she's not around because Bowser kidnaps her and either forcefully tries to marry her or eat her, either to get laid and/or use her Heart Magic. Although his care for his people really makes him a fun villain to fight and to play as. He's still evil, but he's still a father and a good ruler. So much so that when Mario and Luigi are forced to join Bowser to take on a bigger threat, Mario does not hesitate to do so because of how much of a good person Bowser is to his people. Luigi is usually scared for understandable reasons, but Mario and Luigi are pretty chill with teaming up with Bowser, even saving his life and following his lead if the situation calls for it.

The song is called Game Over and it's composed by Brandon Yates, one of the two main composers for Death Battle. Also, Victor Borba sings this song, A.K.A., the guy who sang Bury the Light. So saying that it has that Bury the Light vibe is pretty spot on.

This fight was the perfect encapsulation of the quote: "A Dictator Dictates, A Leader Leads." One sat on the sidelines, and had nobody willing to step in to help at the end because they never stepped in to help their troops, while the other practically had to wait in line for his troops to stop protecting him before reciprocating in kind. Even if the winner had actually lost, I think we can all agree he would have lost in a manner that is perfectly in character for him. Easily one of the best battles in the series history.

Meanwhile, Bowser received assistance from Kamek (multiple times), Bowser Jr (multiple times), and King Boo (once). But ultimately when it mattered most, at the very end of the battle, and someone showing up to save Eggman was a matter of victory or death, who still had an army to back him up? Someone to cover him? Not Eggman, that's for sure.
@@reggielacey2235 That proves OP's point even more. Metal Sonic and Sage were dictated by Eggman to do his bidding. Metal Sonic CARRIED because he did most of the leg work when he arrived to grab the Phantom Ruby. Sage was *almost* the saving grace for Eggman, but failed to recognize that there were so many abilities that they couldn't think about. For example, the Grand Star being used through rage, Bowser turning into Dry Bowser after he tanked the laser beam or even Chance Time.
In MANY, if not all, of the scenes, Bowser was on the front lines fighting off the enemies with his people and protecting them at all costs. No matter the struggle, he was there. Eggman can't say the same at all. We BARELY saw him. Only when he was in a power struggle or close to death.

Maria is just Eggman's cousin and he honestly didn't give a shit about her. It was more like everyone ignored him because everyone cared about Maria first. I think it was said somewhere Eggman didn't take the news of Maria's death super well despite never having met her. But even if that was true, yeah, Maria didn't really impact him to the same extent as his family. Storybooks are Spin-offs where Sonic is sucked into an existing Story and is then Spit back out to reality once the Story is finished. Sonic 06 Only scales up to "An Opponent Destroying Past, Present, and Future" and doesn't do Multiverse shenanigans

With the way Death Battle set this up (eggman crashing the wedding), it makes it seem as if eggman had an unlimited amount of prep time while bowser had none, meaning eggman really should’ve won within 2 minutes.
I won't fault anyone for not knowing this off-hand, but IDW Publishing took over the Sonic The Hedgehog comics in 2017 after the cancellation of the Archie Comics series, and while the comics have always been their own thing, IDW does incorporate the elements of the newer games into their story and treats them as things that just happened offscreen, so in a way the comics ARE canon, it's just that the comics have always been a bit more niche of a medium.
The Metal Virus arc is also one of the first story arcs put out for the IDW Sonic run, and I must say it is a FANTASTIC story. Why? Because it starts with an amnesiac Eggman being a nice old man called 'Mr Tinker', getting his memories restored by a new villain, an Eggman fanboy named Dr Starline, choosing to NOT become Eggman, and then Starline refusing to live in a world without Dr Eggman and torturing 'Mr Tinker' until he not only reverts back to being Dr Eggman, he winds up being WORSE. How? 'Oh I'll just engineer a highly infectious techno-organic virus that turns all living creatures into zombie robots, and I'll start by DUMPING IT ON THE TOWN I WAS LIVING IN AS MR TINKER! THAT will let everyone know that Dr Eggman is back, better and badder than ever!' What follows is a series of events wherein Eggman nearly converts the entire planet into 'Zombots' as part of the opening act of his comeback tour. It doesn't work, but the experience of the robot-zombie apocalypse where damn near EVERY character, including Sonic, gets infected by the Metal Virus traumatizes the whole world so thoroughly that they're all genuinely terrified of Eggman again and not just going 'Oh god, it's Tuesday again... God I hope Eggman and Sonic are fighting somewhere else today...'

correction: IDW is a seperate continuity from the archie one, hence why no characters from the archie comic have appeared or been alluded to in IDW, and rather than Freedom Fighters the heroes are collectively The Restoration.

IDW is more of a return to form as it is, or at least was, using all of the modern Sonic games as part of its lore and trying to maintain consistency between the games in pursuit of a larger narrative, even if stuff in the comics like the Metal Virus don't actually feature in the games.

Super Mario RPG, he takes a backseat to Smithy and even joins Mario as a party member.
Paper Mario? Well he's the main villain of the first Paper Mario, but he's a midboss in Thousand-Year Door overshadowed by Grodus and the Shadow Queen, and in Super Paper Mario he's an ally against the illustrious Count Bleck.
Mario & Luigi? Midboss in Superstar Saga overshadowed by Cackletta, midboss in Partners In Time overshadowed by Princess Shroob, and in Bowser's Inside Story he's unwittingly teamed up with Mario and Luigi to fight Fawful, which as far as I'm concerned makes Bowser's Inside Story one of the best Mario games of all time because Bowser is damn near the main character. Although Fawful DOES kind of steal the show...

The Sonic games don’t dive into multiverse outside of Blaze’s dimension and Silver’s future. Even then they’re under utilised and there’s hardly any alternate counterparts.
Silver's future isn't an alternate dimension but rather a timeline.
Multiverses are technically canon due to Sonic Prime and the discussion Tails had about it. (I think, will need to recheck. Let me know if I'm wrong)

@ Aren’t alternate dimensions and timelines used as synonyms when discussing multiverses, even the Spiderverse film does it. In either scenario, you’re likely to find counterparts of characters.
I the worlds in Prime were actually fragmented from the main one, so it’s not the same as the traditional multiverse, probably why it’s called a shatterverse instead.
If anything, multiverse is canon via the lore in Archie comics, Sonic Boom and Underground, but the games hardly went as far as them.
I also hope we get more on Blaze’s world as well as Silver’s.
@@ghostspider2056 Alternate dimensions and timelines aren't used synonymously although the translations will tell you otherwise with how much they swap between the two. Timelines are set in the same dimension with different events happening(Current Classic Sonic). Alternate dimensions can have completely different things that would never exist in the main one. (Blaze the Cat and how she can be the "Sonic" replacement of her universe)

It's clearly being inspired. Her talking about multiverses is also stupid, it's not a multiverse. I just find it irritating and annoying. Though I won't stop watching because her other reactions are actually decent. (P.S. this is mostly about the writing of a story and or talking about a character's strength)

Sorry but as of Mario and Luigi Dream team it said the inside of Bowsers mind is a hellish wasteland and that is his perfect world. The dude is 100% evil he just has bouts of incompetence sometimes when Mario gets involved.
Bowser is still a villain, it would probably suck to be forced to turn to bricks with my only escape being the fists of a plumber who may or may not be killing toads with that method because they can't turn back without Peach's Heart Magic. The reason she can't turn the toads back is because of the fact that she's not around because Bowser kidnaps her and either forcefully tries to marry her or eat her, either to get laid and/or use her Heart Magic. Although his care for his people really makes him a fun villain to fight and to play as. He's still evil, but he's still a father and a good ruler. So much so that when Mario and Luigi are forced to join Bowser to take on a bigger threat, Mario does not hesitate to do so because of how much of a good person Bowser is to his people. Luigi is usually scared for understandable reasons, but Mario and Luigi are pretty chill with teaming up with Bowser, even saving his life and following his lead if the situation calls for it.
