Wow! I've been shooting at the 10" length the bands come in for two months since I started. This is a game changer. Now I've cut them to 1/5th my draw length (6,1/4"") and accuracy and speed are significantly increased. Thank you.
Is man, Being started with slingshots. Just ordered 2 from simple shop. Didn't know anything about this band length thing. I mean, as a kid, it's just rubber. Whatever Length.. just pull it back. Glad I'm been reading research. Interesting. It sounds like it could be funnier And better than I thought Nowadays parent
Thank you so much for taking the time! I love whenever a company is this passionate about not only about there products and also about diving this deep in helping there customers to get 100% out of the products you sell to them. Thank you SimpleShot and to everyone on the team!
I knew something didn’t feel right with my new Hammer XT. Not being a bow hunter and just getting into real slingshot shooting and one day hunting, these videos helped a ton. 👍🏼👍🏼
I really appreciate this channel! I am 13 now and love slingshots. This channel have inspired me to make my own. I have ordered several things from your store including the rambone, pure medical latex and dankung tubes are on the way to me now. Thank you for having this channel and keep up the good work!
Your a genius man!! So glad that, I found you and products!! SO anticipatingly waiting for my first Adult slingshot 😉 the Scout LT and sssss I bought my soon to be 8 years daughter a matching one for her birthday!!! Love you guys and God bless!!!
Awesome. just getting into slingshots. Didn't know about this band thing. It's just rubber. As a kid...you pull it back and that's it. This might be funner than I thought.
Nice, simple explanation. Very easy to understand. Seeing as I just got my first slingshot, I find that I have my bands too long for my draw length. My draw length is about 31". I will shorten my bands from the 9" I was using down to little more than 6". Like yours. With the Occulus system, it is really easy to fix. Thanks.
Excellent. You must be/have been a good teacher. Your review examples strongly suggest that, along with your clarity and directness. I almost wish there was a lippy kid in one of your vids so I could watch how you manage that. Wait, we're all lippy kids who like slingshots. lol
Speaking only for the Ocularis type binding system. When determining the actual length to cut for any Ocularis type binding post, I would recommend first to pre-install on one post before the cut and mark it for the extra length Because the extra length for attaching is probably a little longer for the Ocularis system.

Hi i have some 45 pound black sling shot tube it takes a bit to pull my draw lenght is 30in it sides on the sling shot 1 3/8 in the bands are 8 1/2in long should i cut these off a little
Nathan I saw your video on band length where you recommended that the stretch factor be about 4-5 relative to the draw length. (Bands should be about 6 1/2" long for a 30" draw length). Does this go for double bands, tubing and all other types of material used for bands too?
Yes, this formula applies to all bands. However, some material, such as natural gum rubber will be very hard to pull based on this formula. All of the latex based bands will work well using this formula.
Does band thickness also play a role in determining band length? 6inch on a .50mm band is going to stretch a lot farther than a 6 inch .75mm. For me my active band length is 5.5 to 6 inches on a .75mm. When I go to .60 or lower it goes down to about 4 inches.
@@simpleshot thanks for the reply and the tips, Nathan, I appreciate it. Just recently got back to slingshot (target) shooting as a hobby. I also just found your site and just recently ordered some pouches. Thanks again!
Well i just dont like how much power comes from single bands, Or even double at the average width for that matter, so i used double bands from 7.25cm tapered to 5.25 on each side at 22cm active band length and shoot 7-9mm steel balls with a leather hand guard to counter the hand slap. And oh my god does it fly fast.
Surely that is a typo! Your bands taper from over 7cm to over 5cm?? And you are shooting 7-9mm ammo? You do realize that if that is NOT a typo, then you are shooting the most mismatched and unbalanced combo possible for 7-9mm ammo. Not even Jorg Sprave shoots that much rubber! A chronograph will show you that you reached a point of diminishing returns several centimeters ago....however, if you are having fun- carry on!
SimpleShot Shooting Sports ill agree it is alot of rubber for that steel but it sure is fun 😂 lacks accuracy though so i might move to one on each side but still thats strong enough, and lol no typo. Oh and would that amount of rubber still make it faster than say 3cm double bands? Due to it being really unbalanced and missmatched for the ammo size? have a good one 👍
The TheraBand FAQ page says, "We don't recommend stretching bands & tubing beyond 300% elongation (4 times resting length; for example, a one foot length of band stretched to 4 feet). The bands and tubing are more susceptible to breaking with greater than 300% elongation." Are they just being overly conservative for the sake of longevity?

It feels like so much tension on the slingshot!
You can always use less en]elongation as well.

You definitely have to factor in the tie-in no matter which method you use. Good point!
I found that a 3/4 inch add on allowed for the tie-in or plug press of the Ocularis for me.
Which slingshot are you using?
Axiom Ocularis, Just got it a couple of days ago.
we have the same draw length, good sir! loving my Hammer XT!!
Thank you 👍
i divide my draw length to 6 inches , i got more accurate shooting than divided by 5 or 4 . But Rubber won't last long
I’m guessing your a tall guy, larger draw length , recon you would need more to divide for sure.

Excuse me sir , I would be very thankful if you make video on measuring rubber constant of your thera bands.
In the video you said to measure from where the band is tied off to the pouch, how much length did you use to tie the bands to the pouch?
No matter how much you use, it's always trimmed off at the end. There should be just enough to keep the strong hold.

I would turn to some of the Facebook slingshot groups as there are plenty of custom band makers in those groups.
Thanks, I made a mistake the first time but because of this vid, I won't be making it again. Fyi I love my axiom oculus :-)
In the name of super simple clarification. When you say 6", do you mean total? Or on each side?
Hi i have some 45 pound black sling shot tube it takes a bit to pull my draw lenght is 30in it sides on the sling shot 1 3/8 in the bands are 8 1/2in long should i cut these off a little
That will depend on your draw and the speeds you are looking for.
Is this the same process with looped tubes? I'm guessing one simply doubles the length of tube.
Yes, same process with looped tubes. However, looped tubes generally benefit from a 5-6x factor for max performance.
Thanks a lot.
how made it with tube rubber, and how define how tube is good for slingshot band
What if you draw out to butterfly or full butterfly. How long should the bands be?
so how much. do I add for the tying in the pouch ?
That will depend on the frame but typically anywhere from 12-30mm.
Does less rubber same locking point mean more power?

Absolutely. You active band length is determined by the stretch capacity of the latex. Linatex can stretch even farther, for example!

is that the same for tube rubber?
Natha sir wich is the best size in tubular bands
This will depend on the ammo size that you are shooting. There is not one best size.
👍
where can i get the band
u are using for the slingshot
+Yanish Jeeb www.simple-shot.com
am not being able to buy it online
just need 50 cm
Helllo, how do you calculate active band( or rather tube)length for black tubes?
Same as any other tube
The TheraBand FAQ page says, "We don't recommend stretching bands & tubing beyond 300% elongation (4 times resting length; for example, a one foot length of band stretched to 4 feet). The bands and tubing are more susceptible to breaking with greater than 300% elongation." Are they just being overly conservative for the sake of longevity?
+Rayford Humphrey Theraband is marketed as a physical therapy product, not a slingshot elastic. They err on the side of caution.
Nobody has band length for butterfly always this same old active .
Sorry, you will need to use this same math and figure out what it is for you. The draw length no matter the style will vary shooter to shooter.
@@simpleshot Thank you. so semi butterfly for me is 51 inches. Do you know why the UK shooters use 5.5 and 6?
