Dear Kim. You are an exceptionally authentic phenomenon. You produce high quality work. You are a natural at it and you are going to succeed well. Congratulations. I am a retired Indo-Canadian neuroscientist, and a polyglot who speaks 22 languages. It might not be a thrill for you that I am a most reluctant Dutch learner. I am fluent in German so Dutch is pretty easy for me to comprehend. My main reason to be inclined to learn Dutch was to be able to enjoy the music videos made a world-famous German singer Nicole who I adore her and because she sang some Dutch songs, I planned to get to know enough Dutch to be able to enjoy her Dutch songs. Then I learned that Dutch were the nicest of the colonizers of India compared to French, Brits and Portuguese. I am getting profoundly impressed by the intellect that Dutch folks exhibit. While I find Dutch a clowning around about German which I view as an authentic language, now I am sucked into learning enough Dutch to e able to hear the lectures of the Dutch neuroscientists, who are brilliant. I love every single thing that Dutch do and have a tremendous amount of respect and sympathy for them and the fact of the suffering of the Dutch during the famine when Canada gave refuge to the Dutch royalty. Canadians also rescued the Dutch from Nazi so there is a long-standing friendship between Netherlands and Canada. Let us promote friendship at multiple levels while I poke fun at Dutch for being a spoof on German. Please introduce me to stunningly beautiful Dutch singers who I might love to listen to. Great vids! My mom is dutch and I decided to learn it in my late 30's so it has been a challenge. Once my mom gets going she speaks damn fast! This helps me break it down and for my brain to catch it. Nice structured lessons with realistic interactions.
Het is beter om Nederlands te leren op je 30e dan te wachten tot je midden 60 bent en je ouders er niet meer zijn zoals ik deed. Ik denk dat het voor mij gemakkelijker is omdat ik veel herinneringen in het Nederlands heb die ik tot nu toe niet kon begrijpen. 😁
Actually I appreciate your efforts to teach us Dutch language, It's took a long time to find this channel.I am Egyptian guy studying in Cairo university and I am in love with learning more languages and I hope one day to travel to Nederland especially Amsterdam it's a nice country and also bikes ,Eventually I would like to thank you very much about these videos❤️👏🏻👏🏻
Kim, hartelijk bedankt voor het prachtige werk dat jij doet. Mijn Nederlands heeft heel veel aan jou te bedanken. Niet stoppen met het maken van videos. Je bent er zo goed aan, en ja, wij willen heel graag meer gewoone dialogen kijken.
Deze video's zijn zo leuk. Je bent niet alleen een goede docent, maar ook een geweldige acteur. Elke zin met Engelse vertaling is perfect voor beginners zoals ik. Heel erg bedankt. 👍
I LOVE that (almost) the whole video is in Dutch, as it's so helpful to just immerse myself into it and learn new words and phrases ON TOP of the actual lesson in it. Dank je wel! 👍🌹❤️
Ik vind deze video geweldig! I am basically brand new at Dutch, around a month and a half of practice. But I was able to pick up some of the sentences and understand them without translating every word into english, which is super encouraging! Dank u wel voor de video
So glad to click through here from LinguaTalk and find that you're actually promoting them. So they're probably not just scraping RUclips for language learning material. Love your videos so far!
I like these kind of videos. It's much more easier to learn the language through dialog between native or expression explained. Keep creating these kind of videos. Thank you

This is really great. The best Dutch course I have come across up to now. I can actually translate Dutch into English (well Flemish actually) but I am absolutely useless at holding conversations. It matters when I am with a group of Flemish speakers and they all have to speak English or French for my benefit. Thank you so much, Kim.

Hoi Kim, can you make a video about daily Dutch conversations when calling your grandparents? My grandparents only speak Dutch and I just moved to the Netherlands and would like to improve my phone calls with them :)
This may be too time consuming for you, but I feel like adding literal translations in between the original Dutch and the working translation is helpful for seeing how word order changes and how prepositions are used differently. I always pause and work out the literal before moving on to the working translation, but it takes forever since I don't know the words already. Something to consider.
Thank you for your suggestion. I get your way of learning, but I actually always tell my students not to do that, because then you’ll always keep on translating things in your head. In my grammar videos I do by the way, then I’ll almost always show how the literal translation would be to English so you can compare, but with videos in which I’ll teach you phrases, it’s better not to do that anymore :) but still, if it works for you, then do it! :)

Haha really cool to find out that russian phrase "в принципе" translates so literally in Dutch to "in principe"! Will be using it from now on :)

силуэт = silhouet = silhouette
Same as French: "En principe" ;)
For a native Russian speaker, Dutch with its "in principe", "-je", "toch" feels more natural than English.
