How to Draw Shot Tracer on a Golf Shot in Davinci Resolve

- I couldn't find a tutorial for this, so I took a crack at making one! I'm sure there are better ways to do this. Two keys before you even get your video into Davinci: 1. make sure your camera is stable, and 2. get the exposure right so that the ball can be picked up in the sky (too bright and the ball will disappear). Would love to get feedback on different ways of doing this. I know there is an app, but I can't be bothered to move my videos between my computer and my phone. Check out my latest video for a full example of what the shot tracers can look like on a golf video! Hope this helps.
THANK YOU. I have been searching for this exact tutorial for days. Appreciate it.
this is a great tutorial, thank you for this.
This is awesome Rhys! Learning my way around Da Vinci Resolve; we have a lot of sports content and this is going to be super beneficial for when we put some long drives off the range on RUclips! Many thanks mate!

Can you do the part where you place the dots and then add a step advancing the write on part at the same time? Instead of going through the ball flight twice?
Great video! Thank you!
Really great video thank you
if you place the camera slightly to the right you can see the curvature in the trajectary
Thanks for doing this tutorial. I use davinci and this is just what I needed. My golf channel is starting to gain traction. Maybe we should start doing some course vlog collabs if you're interested. My USGA GHIN right now is 4.5 but I'm probably closer to a 2.
Great video
Can you think of why I can't see the line drawn? I followed all the steps, but even at full opacity, the line doesn't show up?
Do you know if you can duplicate the shot tracer and add it to another shot clip? Then use the adjustment tool to move it around? I saw this on a Premiere tutorial. Can't try, as my hardware can't handle this yet. Thanks for doing this in resolve.
Why didn’t mine work when I followed all the steps? Nothing came up on the screen at the end ?
My only guess is that maybe you didn't set key frames for the "write on" section?
@@royjoy02 yup you were right, great video and thanks
will this work on davinci 16
Thanks!!!!!!
We have a PC and MacOS app as well which will make things much easier and faster.
you do? Sweet, will have to check it out. Thanks for letting me know
Sadly you charge an INSANE amount! Love the product, but absolutely no way I can justify spending 30 dollars a month on it. Isn't the phone app like 5 dollars!?
Your Mac app is atrocious. None of the manual controls work properly and it rarely tracks automatically.
@@davidlitchfield1711 Here is a tutorial video of how to film in order to get the best tracking result possible:

@@ShotTracer Why don't the manual controls work? Flight time, straighten tracer screw up the curve. Adjusting the height of the curve introduces weird kinks into the curve. the software is rubbish, not the filming.
The best way to do this is to go PRO and let the TV networks do it instead. bye
