    In the early 90's, my 11 year old self was featured regularly on commercials for Loud Debie Dowd on Zrock. You could call the station and record whatever you wanted, and one night I called up and off the top of my head I sang "Loud Debie Dowd I love Yoooou-ooo-ooo, I love Yooou-oo-ooo, I love Yoooou-oo-oo, all the time"...and I remember this being played on commericals every day for years lol.

    I had tons of the Z-Rock days recorded. Around the end of one year in the early 90s they had, "Too Much Metallica," and I tried to record the whole thing. Anyone remember Nightly Nuke? Man I wish those days were back. I had that sticker too. Miss those days so bad.

    • @toddstewart9070
      @toddstewart9070  7 лет назад +1

      yeah man I remember the Nightly Nuke. Good ol' days. OTA radio sucks so bad, especially where I live now and nowadays. SiriusXM has some pretty good channels though like Ozzy's Boneyard, Liquid Metal, Hair Nation, and a few others. I cant live without it now.

      The music was alot better that is for sure. I need to find the tape I have that I know has Z-Rock 94.5 (before they turned it into 94.5 The Edge) recorded on it from 88 or 89. Has alot of Slayer on it if I recall right. Knowing my luck youtube will probably flag it as copyright violation. I was going to post some really good Headbangers Ball episodes I converted to digital awhile back from the 80s and early 90s but I couldn't get a single one to post without it getting flagged. Ive got like 30 full episodes of that show, before MTV sold out. I guess I got lucky with this particular tape.

    • @toddstewart9070
      @toddstewart9070  5 лет назад

      hey that's great! maybe we can find some kind of way to swap them (like ftp pub somewhere) where we can dump our tapes onto to share, without it getting flagged like on youtube. Ive 5 of them I think, couple of them i saved from youtube long ago before they were taken down.

      @varockcity1 I'm sure there are several concerts, the only problem is finding them. I used to record on 8 hour VHS tapes almost every weekend and wasn't bright enough to label them at the time. When I come across them I will upload them for sure. Which concerts did you post? I'm looking for Alice in Chains from 1990 & Love/Hate concerts that were broadcast on Z-Rock

    • @donsatman2273
      @donsatman2273 2 года назад

      @varockcity1 I will have to ask a friend of mine that worked for SMN back in the day and see if he knows of any archieved Z-Rock broadcasts/concerts. He did an internet version of Z-rock for a while with some of the original jocks called KDKT. Sadly I think the channel faded away but it brought back great memories of the glory days of Z-Rock

      94.5 z-rock kzrk. its been awhile, but i think it went out in like 1990 or 91 and turned into a spanish station for a really short time, just before it turned to 94.5 the edge, then later on around the beginning of 1992 z-rock came back on the 99.1 frequency.

    • @toddstewart9070
      @toddstewart9070  6 лет назад +1

      Yup, it sounds more like joint stereo to me. I recorded it on an old Sony boombox I had in my bedroom at the time. If I had recorded it on the main stereo with Kenwood tape deck it would have sounded much better. It doesn't sound too bad though considering it was recorded on a portable boombox radio.
