5:25 you can also add in a bunnyhop (or several if you're good enough) to maintain the momentum of the kick for faster rollouts from spawn. It's minimal but it has allowed me to barely touch on overtime when I wouldn't have otherwise. Sadly you can't just bind scrollwheel to jump since it'll use up the doublejumps so the timing is a bit precise...
@dotriv I still wouldn't recommend it because the double jumps immediately start recharging during the bunnyhop, so you could still end up accidentally halting all your momentum 😅
10:46: As a high ELO Ironfist main, my team and I have found that Ironfist actually works very well in situations where you can't dive if you play as a sort of off tank WITH the team. An example of this being to apply pressure on the tanks and force the strategists to heal them while you hold the line with your vanguard, so your long range duelist and even long ranger strategist can take out the backline. If a opening is provided and you can slip away with the frontline fortitude falling apart or you dying, by all means do so but holding the line and finding a way to out last the opposing team works best in our experience. Loved this video. Just wanted to see if there was more I could learn, tyvm!
How would you suggest playing him as an off role tank in domination? Being around the payload makes sense in the others, but trying to frontline in point control with his hp seems unrealistic
@@thatchadbrad No, you're right but usually in those domination games I don't have to hold with the team. In those instances it's almost always best to try to obtain your picks since pressure is almost guaranteed from both sides, so you wanna get high value from kills. The first time to make it a 5 or 4 v 6 depending on how efficient your character is at getting kills wins domination in most instances were ULTs aren't involved. Domination is a flank player wonderland, which is probably why all our ults can be outhealed or cc'd lol so our value as duelists don't go too high.
Pro tip against Loki: if you kill his clones, it triggers the bonus HP from your passive as if you killed a real character. So I like to focus the clones first since they are easier to kill, and then chase anyone close by since I’ll have 100 hp bonus for a short time as I fight them. And if you want to add an extra spice to it -> you can ult after killing the clones and just become a killing machine vanguard for the whole ult duration. It’s fun
Thank you so very much for this guide! I genuinely appreciate the amount of work and passion you put into it! I really like Iron Fist, I have (or rather used to have) so much fun with him! That being said, I started avoiding playing him as everyone claims that he is absolutely useless in high ranks. Now, I am quite the opposite of a high rank player, yet still I was afraid that I would get attached to a "low skill character". I know, sounds ridiculous. But I decided to focus on "better" heroes, mostly Panther. However, seeing that you made it so far on a competitive ladder encouraged me to pick up Iron Fist again. You have once again proven that good skill, gamesense and dedication can make any character work. And for that I am grateful! My only problem right now is that I don't know how to use his Kick. Actually, it's more of a "when" thing. I have a habit of holding on to it and only using it as a disengage tool. But in your clips you seem to be a lot more comfortable using it aggressively and you stay alive. But I suppose it is a matter of experience. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing more of your Iron Fist videos! Again, thank you kindly for this guide, for sharing your tips and strats! You are amazing
Thanks for the encouragement! So the big thing about kick is that you kind of need to use it aggressively if you want to get any kills at all (otherwise you give the enemies too much time to respond), so i try to set up in a way that after the kick i know theres a corner or team to hide behind
Most people do not know but when you are in the ultimate state if you block towards the end of your ultimate when you leave the ultimate you're going to stay in your regular empowered form but you're going to keep the short cool down. It's a free way to get an additional empowered form and finish up any kills that you haven't been able to finish up with the ult
Minor correction about your matchup re:Punisher. You actually destroy Punishers on their turret unless they're getting hard-saved by healers or bubbles. The trick is to jump around. He's effectively a stationary target and he simply cannot move his screen around to aim at you fast enough, the only play is to leave turret or die. Hit him, jump over his head when he turns to aim at you, keep bouncing off his head until he's dead. It goes even faster with the empowered attacks because of the stationary aspect, meaning you never accidentally dash and just unload the damage into him. And an added bonus of attacking him (and others) from this angle is that you win most damage trades because headshots are basically impossible from below you.
I thank you for this, I got to plat in an instant with Iron Fist but I hit a brick wall and only managed to hit Diamond after dropping him, despite loving Iron Fist This will get me to pick him back up again! Thank you!!
DUDE! One of the most informative and well formatted hero guides I have seen yet!! And I’ve seen quite a few across different heroes. Huge thanks and a sub from me🙌
Loved the vid and how in-depth you went, you explain all the facets of Iron Fist super well and succinct. only note would be to have some music in the background at a low enough volume not to distract from what you're saying but its there to supplement the audio and fill in those moments where you aren't speaking.
I really appreciate this I’ve been maining iron fist just haven’t hit lord yet cuz I wasn’t able to play for a bit but now that I’m back to it I’m on captain for now and this helped me learn what I’ve been doing wrong
7:58 Small correction, but Rocket can actually heal himself with his healing projectiles if he shoots at his feet or at nearby terrain, which, combined with his mobility from his jetpack, makes chasing down a competent Rocket player before they reach their team difficult at times since they can health stall. This is where using Iron Fist's kick ability after weakening Rocket with some basic attacks can help finish off a kill, since the sudden burst damage can overtake their rate of healing.
Bro thanks for the guide, i needed learn a new playstyle in high rank. When the enemy adopt the turtle formation i can't do nothing going backline so the tank style sounds pretty amazing.
I used to play him in beta where nobody knew how to play against him and he was op he quickly became one of the most useless characters in game after everybody figued out how to play into him and peel for each other. This video makes me want to try him again. Hes so cool i dont want him to be L tier forever. Thanks for sharing amazing well made guide!
Mantis sleep is actually very reactble! You need to watch her hands as she slides a purple thingy onto the floor, and that thing will put you to sleep in half a second. It has a very weird tell but its blockble
I was always wondering why everyone's block last so long 😂 I thought you have to time your first parry like in fighting games then it goes on. I perform significantly better now after knowing this.
You can dodge and get out of town so fast with triple+ jumps. Especially since you can change directon in the air making you unpredcitable. I don't get why people say you have to save "kick" to get away. Sure it's faster if you really gotta dip fast. I'm so used to kicking in to kill a support or hela/hakwaye faster. Kick in, predict the parry, finish off, jump away. Iron Fist and Peni are my favorites so far!
its situational really. you gotta decide the best for the situation. i do both. there are situations where i know i cant kill anything so i drop from high and get out with kick. there are situations im confident i can kill the target if i do it fast so i use the kick either as a finisher or disrupter/gap closer. enjoying ironfist and wolverine so much. this game is fun.
When i play iron fist, i love teaming up with a Hulk. You stay up high and wait for him to jump on a target. Then you join your Hulk and just MELT what ever hes hitting
Things to note from my experience. 1. During the attack you get after a block if you click and not hold it will do dash and a bunch of punches so you don’t keep dashing. 2. Your ult will most likely get you killed. This character is best at taking ones or finding someone out of place. Once you pop ult the whole enemy team will look at you and punish you for this play style. Only pop if u can get a kill with it for shield and if healers are near by.
Thanks for this, we need an Iron Fist Discord for like-minded individuals. Also, I found some (seemingly?) unknown tech with IF, if you perfectly time a Bhop after doing Dragon Kick (without double jumping), you can transfer your momentum from the Dragon Kick into your Bhop & literally go FLYING, I’ll upload a video of this on my channel, & by the time you read this it’s probably there. The tech can be extremely useful in certain situations, it could give you just the momentum you need to slip out without getting owned. I’ve had plenty of examples where if I didn’t Bhop I would’ve been toast or at a significant disadvantage, like today I used it to get away from a Spider-Man who was ON ME which gave me enough time to recharge my Parry which won me the fight.
As in what your job is in the game the best advice I gave myself was 2 simple mindset changes: 1. Be a stat farmer 2. Pretend enemy squishes emotional damage is a stat.
I was comfortably killing the whole team. Until I dived their Natasha Romanov , she was alone sniping. Looking at me she change to melee and beat the shit out of me. I love playing iron fist too. I do all the things . But I use the block ability more offensively and have very little overshield from it. Just one question . When in my ultimate do I stop hitting when I use the defensive ability ???
23:20 I hate when the game just launches you to different position for no reason. I die half the time when it happens cause my brain short circuits cause im so confuse when it happens
So for his normal attacks, not really! (although i prefer holding it) As for his empowered attacks, if you spam click it then even when you are in melee range youll still keep dashing, while holding it will allow you to stop dashing (which gives you a lot more dps)
im actually curious. couldnt a good RR actually beat out ironn fist in a 1 v 1? if hes landing enough headshots i believe he has the theoretical highest strategist damage
I am new to this genre never played overwatch or anything but i have melee bias and i use iron fist just cause i feel like a menace and i just learnt if i play a dps i have to basicall assasinate enemy healers 😂 now i understand roles lol
Yup! rapidfire mode loses a lot of dps when you repeatedly have to use its dash, and even if you walk straight at jeff he'll be too fast and you will keep being forced to use your dash, making you deal less damage than if you were to not use rapidfire mode. Same reason its actually better to use non rapidfire vs flyers
Good catch! you can still use scrollwheel, just make sure to use up all doublejumps before using the kick, makes it a lot easier to bhop in general.
@dotriv I still wouldn't recommend it because the double jumps immediately start recharging during the bunnyhop, so you could still end up accidentally halting all your momentum 😅
Now instead of going 1-67 on iron fist I can go 2-66, thanks riv

Great Video, made my unleash the dragon within myself and become the Iron Fist Above All
im halfwy in and this is so helpful so far. my issue was thinking im invincible running in alone while my team isnt distracting them and dying
The fact that Iron First can jump up and literally K.O. a flying Iron Man is just so absurd and I fxcking love that.

amazing video thanks!
Ay I watched this vid… and the very next game I get 16 kills and mvp thank you bro
best iron fist guide ive ever watched p2 tank player btw
as a psylocke and iron fist main i need this
Very good guide. Thank you
if anyone wants to know the namor matchup is at 16:50 :D enjoy trying to play into fishman
His range is extended if you are in the air as well, not just after block
Great vid, man.
very detailed explanation..! thx
Gj bro keep it up
For the aiming to the right stuff for melee characters I just disable the crosshair and use the body to aim
Love the pfp! Do you have one for Hulk by any chance?
Nope, sorry! got a friend to make it for me
I appreciate this video, ngl I thought I was forced to only go up when running on walls.
But can I play him like cap?
Thank god the devs didn't listen to the nerf Iron FIst camp when the game got released
As a Doomfist main, I always got a movement cool down for the escape. Same applies for iron fist
I think you forgot Cloak & Dagger in the strategist portion.
I didn’t hear a matchup with winter soldier? Did I miss it?
Thanks for the vid! Can’t wait for his nerf
There’s one tip I don’t see anyone talk about and you were wrong about after his dash if you time his jump just right you bhop and carry momentum

Yes! As dps main rule is to not aim tank first. Especially if you are really mobile, target support or other dps
22:18 What? I kill him fin mode all the time as long as you have the rapid fire. Do they do something else above gold?
