- From acclaimed director Alexander Payne, THE HOLDOVERS follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them -- a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) -- and with the school's head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da'Vine Joy Randolph). Take a look behind the scenes and hear from the cast & crew.

I can't believe this is Dominic Sessa's first film role. He was so engaging and feels like he's been acting for ages. The movie is so warm and delightful - a new addition to Christmas movies cannon.
Dominic did hold his own against veteran actor Paul Giamatti! His acting was impressive! I also loved this movie and the kind of "hodpodge characters thrown into a unique situation" storyline. Writing was excellent too.
Great movie. We know the talent of Paul Giamatti, but that Dominic Sessa was a debutant is unbelievable: amazing performance
He surely is inçredible❤Loved Every last thing about this movie!! Straight from the heart! If I could every last award there is to all those involved with this film ,I would...here's hoping!🎉
Da’vine Joy Randolph absolutely broke my heart in this movie in the best possible way I don’t think it would have been the same without her she was amazing
Spot on
She deserves all the awards they are heaping upon her!❤️
Lots of authenticity in this film! The clock radio on Paul's desk is exactly like the one I received for my 1971 high school graduation!
Dominic Sessa was a revelation in this film. He will go places. Maybe even get a oscar nomination for best supporting actor. Alexander Payne for best director.
Kinda hope he doesn't go places. He's still pure. Hollywood corrupts.
This movie was incredible. I predict it'll become a holiday classic.
One of my favorite movies in 2023. The entire cast played their characters very well. I wish that Da'vine Joy will be nominated and hopefully win the Oscars. Paul should win too.
One beautiful aspect of the film is that it highlights the heroism of an anti-hero. That’s an inspiring triumph by itself.
I saw this film near Christmas. I couldn't believe the script, the caliber of acting, the genius of Paul Giamatti. I left the theater with the best feeling I'd had in years. ❤
He's the only actor whose movies I will always see.
A heartwarming & Oscar worthy film with an extraordinary ensemble cast lead by the brilliant & irrepressible Paul Giamatti. Bravo!🏆
My favourite film of recent times. Wonderful script and cast. Great soundtrack, generally utterly delightful! Also quite Christmassy, will turn into a seasonal classic that people will watch every year. More films like this should be made and everyone should see it.
best film I've seen in years
Such a great movie. All three of the main actors were amazing and deserve all the things.
David here, I been a movie buff for over fifty years and I just saw this movie, a fantastic film! A instant classic! A must see for everyone! 😊
Dominic Cessa was wonderful. Part of a great cast
I loved this movie. It was really a trip back in time.
Really great movie. I like this movie a lot more than "American Fiction".
Although that movie is very good too.
The Hollow Wood big-wigs need to get more movies like these up on the screens.
Splendido film, quelle due ore son volate! Grazie a tutti, siete bravissimi❤️
I've loved Paul Giamatti in everthing I"ve seen him in -- would love to see him on the stage!
So proud of notable Nebraskan Alexander Payne
Absolutely adore everything about this movie!
this movie is one of the best ... the script is psychologically sound, acting so good and the story moving and meaningful. Oh ... and entertaining too. I told my husband that boys (and people ) like the ones in this movie are the reason I went into the profession of Clinical Social Work. Even in Jr High I knew that these problem or (quote/unquote) bad boys were 'good inside' and I wanted to help them. A very truthful film. Thank you.
HOw well-put! You could add film criticism to your talents, too.
It's good people like you who remind me of the potential of the human spirit. Thank you for choosing a career that helps people.
Best movie ever...nice actors and keep up the nice work.....
Recommended.
This film is excellent! 💯
Beautiful movie, enjoyed it thoroughly. Perfect casting for all the characters
Academy Award winner Paul!!
I really want to see this movie. I love Giamatti and Payne working together again
I would recognize the Giamatti walk anywhere ❤
Just watched it..... great movie... feels a lot like Rushmore. Very wholesome and funny
Please ! I don’t normally like film sequels but can we have a Holdovers Two ? The prof helps Angus when his family are really difficult and they go on an adventure - maybe to Greece ? Same director, natch !
What a great movie!!
Congratulations to the cast and crew.
May awards season be fruitful for you all 🎉🎉🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Deserving!
Enjoyed the movie very much!
LOVED this movie!
This is great movie.
Killer movie.
Wonderful film
I always dislike Paul's acting maybe because of how good he is at the part, but this has to be his finest work he's been in for me . By the end of the movie I have become a great fan of his work, see the move it's so good
Excelente película! Muuuuy recomendada!

"Entrenous....Entrenous"..
Fantastic film on so many levels!
The Kerbal Space Program bgm is great.
Why the hell would kids of divorced parents have no where to go?
See the movie.
A pity that this film has been tarnished with the scandal of the alleged plagiarism of the script, I hope it has an explanation, because is a wonderful movie.
It hasn’t been tarnished, because that claim is total BS when you compare the two scripts. It’s a non-story that’s been given way too much attention than it deserves.
This film is shite
