My grandma had 5 daughters and 1 son. You’d never tell cause she’s a tiny sweet mature woman. She’s close to 100 yrs old and she’s still coherent and productive. I know it sounds cliche but she can sew and knit and grow almost any damn plant you can think of. This woman also seems like a sweetheart.
I actually don't. I mean, a bit, but I think Charlie absolutely pretends to be more of a goof in his family than in reality. Like when he was making his dad a father's day gift but couldn't get the drill press to work.

I don't recall either my Mother or grandmother complaining about Dad / grandpa not helping. And they raised a family with no running water. It was carried in. I imagine she does tow the line when it comes to the kids doing their chores. What good parent wouldn't...
We loved seeing Charlie’s dad in the workshop, Charlie’s grandpa on the boat, and his sister going off to college. Mom, though, is truly the queen of the castle. Wonderful. (Also, I want to make potato salad.)

As a mother of 10 myself, from almost 20 down to just turned 1, I thoroughly enjoyed the mother/son banter and I absolutely felt that “who’s your favorite kid” response in my soul! Haha! I’ve always had a reputation for being slightly crazy which really just translates into humor. I’m pretty sure you need that I’m order to spawn your own army of tiny minions. Ahh, I can’t wait to mess with my adult children someday and pass the fun on the grand kids.

This video was great; thank you! My Mom unexpectedly passed away nearly a year ago; I never got the chance to ask her for her recipe for her Midwestern Potato Salad. I will definitely try this recipe the way your Mom intended; it is basically what my Mom would make. ❤️
If you want to make it a little bit easier you can do what my MN mother did and skip adding vinegar and sugar to the mayo and just use Miracle Whip! I've done it that way myself for years and my friends always wonder why my potato salad is so good! 6:42
The chopping part gave me flashbacks to every time I have cooked in the kitchen ever with my brother. Also the saying "it's washed" when it probably isn't. That's why I always wash everything myself, before handing it over for mutilating... I mean chopping. ;)
My Mom never taught me how to make her potato salad, she's gone now, and not even my aunts can make it right. Very troublesome. I've had dozens of kinds of potato over the years and lots of them are good, but none of them are quite like Mom's. I can't figure out her secret.
Yesterday, my 17 year old and I worked on her college applications and while it's in no way the same thing as making potato salad, I feel like the experience was identical.
You know what would be good with that tater salad? My grandma's pickles. Also, when you or one of your siblings got in trouble, would your mom run through the list of names until she got to the one who messed up?
I grew up in WI, my wife grew up in TN. For a while when we were traveling between the two often, we'd bring good WI pickles south and take good TN moonshine up north. Weirdest smuggling operation I've ever been a part of.
