Two steam locomotives were in operation on Saturday 16th September 2023, to mark the 40th anniversary of the creation of the South Tynedale Railway.

Can someone at least tell me what those weird tender things are the steam locomotives are pulling? when they’re tank engines. And have coal in bunkers and water in tanks.

I think it has a generator in it, and may have something to do with braking.
