I'm a little late to this party but I bought a new County Line 25 ton splitter in early 2017. I just happened to pull into Tractor Supply just as they were marking them down from $950 to $850. Needless to say I bought one on the spot. Add into the fact that I had a lot of wood here from trees taken down to build my garage and to buy another load of firewood would have cost me $160 I figured that I saved another hundred dollars counting in my labor and it's been a great log splitter. I too bought the later model log catcher from Tractor Supply and just got done watching your later video on installing it to my splitter. God bless and have a wonderful day. P.S. A log splitter is like a tiller for your tractor or a microwave oven. Once you have one you won't be able to figure out how you lived without one. 😁

Nice purchase Ed! I found with large rounds it's easier to split them once or twice in the vertical position to get them to a manageable size and then finish them in the horizontal position. For me working on the ground for any length of time is hard on my back.

I bought the same splitter used off of FB Marketplace earlier this year. It worked fine for a couple of face cords but then the control valve failed. I called the 888 number on the cylinder and after a brief explanation and conversation they agreed to send me a new valve at a great price, free. Since I received and installed the valve I’ve split at least 20 face cords and it has worked flawlessly. Very happy with my purchase. Before putting it away for the winter I plan on changing the engine oil and hydraulic oil and filter since I’m not sure of the maintenance history.

Good to know, Bob! They PO told me he never changed the oil, but it’s still pretty clear. I’ll be doing that for sure!

we got a new CL 25t splitter 3 weeks ago for 1199 .
this week TS had them for 899 so we went there with our receipt and card and they put 327 (300+tax) back on our card :)
gonna use that 327 and order 2 of their tables for it , one to work off of and one to protect the engine .
    love the splitter !

Man o man Ed....you're a tough negotiator. LOL. Wore him down like a pro. Hey...side note...some of the guys that have the vertical splitters make a thick horseshoe shaped wooden block that fits right around the end plate when sitting on the ground. That keeps the larger ones from tipping over and needing to be kinda held up level for the first few splits. Fun video !! Cool machine and a good deal for you.

Good job with the new "toy". I have the same one, though I just hooked it to my ball and towed it home (didn't have far). Most of the time I have mine in the vertical position, find a nice round and keep it for a seat, easier on the back and I keep it on the splitter when stored. You will find the side tray handy when you start horizontal splitting.

Glad you are happy with your purchase. The 25 ton log splitter is a real work horse. I bought one from TSC about 20 years ago. Got lots of use out of it the first 2-3 years. 🥴😉 Mostly used to help out neighbors and relatives who didn't own one but have been hoarding tons of logs around their property unbeknownst to me. I always fell for the "I've got a cold case of your beer....." I digress, I think I'm going to sell mine and buy a PTO splitter. Tired of the maintenance on the small gas engines (Carbs and ethanol 👎) Thanks for the video and your time working on it. 👍✌🍺

The only thing I wish was different is that the wedge and the foot plate were a little taller for the bigger rounds, especially when splitting vertically (which I really don't like doing).

I got some gouging on my 25 ton countyline going on, on top of h-beam under the lip, a few inches from end of stroke. We ran a load of wet oak thru it and the wedge wasn't always going perfectly straight, so bottom of wedge was digging into the h-beam. A little grease helped.

Who would have thought that a mundane, mindless job like splitting wood with a splitter could bring such pleasure! Mine is a 27 ton Ariens, I bought it for myself for a retirement gift and it is always a happy day when I get to use it! I have challenged it many times with huge blocks, nasty crotch pieces, chunks of elm that would rather mash than split and it has never let me down! I don't think you will regret your purchase, it is just one of those things that us outdoor types like to do!

I have the older version of the Tractor supply splitters. I have the Huskee 22 ton. In one of my very 1st videos, I showed where I had a friend of mine that owns his own welding/fabrication shop modify mine. I have some monster sized trees and even with 3 guys trying to handle the blocks, it was a real sr=truggle and some back breaking work. We started using my skid loader but I was afraid someone was going to get in a pinch point and get hurt. What my buddy Layne from the welding shop came up with was a boom. The boom has a hand crank winch and I run a cable out to a set of logging tongs and I can now crank those huge blocks right into the splitter very easily and all by myself.
Later on, I took it back it Layne and had him replace the factory tongue with 3x3 box tubing and add a Bull Dog jack to it. These modifications have made a nice little splitter into an awesome splitter that I am proud to own.
Great video Ed. Full watch and a thumbs up. See you for the next one and hope to catch you tomorrow night if I can get done early enough. The time change between us puts me at a slight disadvantage but we make it work. I really enjoy that when I can catch it.

I have the exact same splitter bought from tractor supply about 6 or. 7 years ago the only problem I've had with it is the motor surging I took the carb apart and it had a very small peace of dirt in one of the jets I cleaned it out with a tip cleaner for a cutting torch as the holes are very small and doesn't take much to stop them up so a fuel filter between the gas tank and the carb fixes this problem yours may be a newer model and already has a filter if not put one on it will save some headaches besides this one thing I have been very happy with the splitter hope the imfo helps

Did you notice a place in front where he had that jack with the missing wheel if he cut off a u bracket that holds the splitter down on the main beam. The u bracket should also have a 4" pin and a cotter type pin that holds the splitter down. I did not see you pull a pin out to lift it up. Check and see, you don't want that to flip up on you when towing or down with a Big Round on it. You could get hurt. look around and see it there is a place for this pin. I wish I had not bought my Countyline 25-ton splitter, but it's too late now and I guess I'm stuck with it. I HATE the design of the beam that the wedge slides on. My old splitter (a 40-year-old Yard Machine) had a beam with a simple flat surface, easy to wipe off and keep clean. The new Countyline has a (whatever you call it) groove that the wedge rides in -- a perfect trap to catch wood chips and splinters that needss constant cleaning (I finally had to set up my air compressor next to it so as to blow everything clean several times a work session.) Today I actually got a fat wood chip crammed in beside the wedge and had to get my pry bar to free it. Stupid stupid design.

Put some fresh non-ethanol gas in it and it will start right up.

My rule of thumb is that if it’s going into a gas can it’s always non ethanol. In reading the manual that came with mine it says to always shut off the gas valve if transporting to prevent the engine from flooding. I know when I brought mine home I did not do that and it was difficult to start, now it’s usually the first or second pull.

@@judge058 I do the same thing. I also put 1.5 oz of stabil in year round for a 5 gallon can. That way I know I always have fresh gas.

@@Joe-db5hz And gasoline out here in white-wing ultra-liberal/Democratic/communist California gasoline was $6.29 the last time I filled up. If you voted for senile good for nothing Biden how do you like him now? That senile f-ck hasn't even been in office two years and look at the world. These are the worst most dangerous times in U.S. history. I was born in 1953 and I have seen a lot including the VietNam war that the Democrats got us into. Both Kennedy and LBK got us into that mess!! Now, look what Biden is getting us into!! I remember the mess this country was in when Jimmie Carter was in office but this country is headed in a much worse situation!!!

I found you a fix for your log splitter. Please watch this. Log splitter stroke limiter, Save the Acorns1264.... (there channel) There is even a better video out fixing this problem, I will try to find this for you. Log splitter stroke limiter May 31, 2022 We split shorter logs and needed a way for the splitter to automatically stop on the return stroke. Now we can start the return stroke and grab the next log without worrying about it returning to the full 24” stroke and having to wait 10” of nothing for it to touch the log. There channel is Save the Acorns. I think you will like this. Save the Acorns@savetheacorns1264.
