I have been looking for a video of this performance for years. My daughter & I were blown away watching it on TV we've never stopped recalling it year after year, that's how much of a impression it made on us. I've told so many people about it and till now didn't have a way to show them the impact that was made when those capes were all opened up. I wish there was a way to get a better copy of it for my own collection of Mummers videos. If anyone know of a way I can get/buy a copy of it please reply I would really appreciate it. It was a great performance with a huge impact.
Agreed....Bill was my great uncle and in his later years we spoke often about this presentation, as I was in the the comics originally and then with south philly vikings for many years. To put things into perspective in 2015,there seems to be much talk about keeping things traditional,but if you look back the parade and shows have always evolved. Im sure there was negative feedback from the prior generation when these type shows were put on as well. It happens again and again in the brigades with Davy Moe(sats),Mickey(Stars) and Butchy(Spv) recreating and reimagining shows and it continues today...
