Thanks pal, ya was a good fight when she came to the boat , the berkley trilene 12lb fleuro is so impressive 👌 I couldn’t believe the width of her when she came into the net 😂👌
Hi bud, not a stupid question at all, no I don’t use the anchor, I just drift along and fight the fish into the net, then reel in the outside rod once the fish is in the net resting . 😊 once you’re fast about it, you won’t get into any tangles 👌🎣
I cover crazy ground when I’m out man. Depending on the wind, I could fish the complete other side of the lake for the day, but then on some days I fish right beside the harbour, all depends on the weather really, I like to go to where I think hasn’t been fished much, less pressure the better 👌😊 hate fishing near other boats, the further away from everyone the better 💪
Hi mate. I'm at Derg right now on a 3 day trip with my boat. Any tips for where the pike are laying up. Also do you not use weights for trolling or do you run them on the surface. Any tips would be good. Thanks tight lines.
Hi bud. Large swimbaits in deep water is the key right now. No never use weights unless I’m casting shads, my lures troll generally down to 20ft ✌️ if you can find baitfish concentrate on that area 👌
Great video but u need to tighten. That clutch up .every time your turning handle while clutch giving .your puttin twists in ur line pump. An reel .fantastic fish .can.t think of many people disappointed in that pike .though can see your thinking hoping into large ferox .please don.t think b.ing critical of you .that was a fantastic days angling sir ..though think i.d prefer those big lough pike to the trout.bendy rods
Thanks for watching pal. I remember this session it was great fun early season, not long left now of the trout season 👌 love the pike fishing also, try to mix up the sessions as much as possible 🎣
You should try lead lining mate in those deeper waters. Takes a bit to get your head around but worth the effort. Similar fishing to here in Tasmania. But no pike only big trout. Another great fishing session. Some great fishing mate 👌
I’ve looked into this before in the past, really seems the best option for pulling the Ferox trout that sit down at about 20ft, Will look into it again soon, definitely worth trying out 👌🎣🙌
@@senanstanleyfishing I use a shimano TLD 15 overhead reel with a 5-10 kg t curve rod. 1 colour to 1m of line usually on the drop allow for your leader and bibbed lure. If its a flat bottom the worst that will happen it will skip along the bottom. Have caught huge trout with this method and would be deadly for pike. Tight lines mate. 👌
Just found your channel a few days ago great vids. Keep it up I’m really enjoying them. I fish lough ree I’d usually fish 80 or so yds behind the boat but only at 3-4kmh is that a bit slow do you reckon I get a few fish but not as many as you
There’s loads of ways to fish them bud, every way will work. But I find speeding up with lots of acceleration and driving in zig zag patterns can really help to activate them 👌
I use my fishfinder when after perch and pike, I know Derg very well, know they structure and areas that hold trout. Unless you’ve a helix 8 or above like the trout guides on Corrib that can target individual Ferox I wouldn’t bother with it. 😊 I always leave the fishfinder at home when going for trout, never struggle to find them. Favorite species.
Thank you! Should have another video up tomorrow from todays fishing, loads of trout and another big pike! No never use any weights on them, you can count down the rapalas to whatever depth you want to fish them at. 1 second per foot
You say 80 to 100yds behind boat at 3mph for the lane minnows, is it same speed and distance for rapalas? I fish Lough Erne mostly and would do 30-40yds for rapalas at 2-3mph but fish minnows short at 20-25yds at close to 4mph. Maybe time to experiment? Good Vlog.
Thanks for watching bud 😊👌 Ya I’m the same I fish the rapalas closer to the boat maybe 40/50yards, then send the minnows back very far. Always worth experimenting 👌👌 had good luck today fishing the rapalas closer to the boat. And driving maybe 4mph fishing closer to the shore than normal the xrap 7cm done great the last two days out . Each day seems to be so different, all about finding what they want then boom fish after fish 😁👌 the minnows work better for me from April on when the perch fry turns up and the trout come higher in the water
Great day fishing Senan..lovely trout and class pike.
Thank you. Should have another good video tomorrow after todays fishing. Another monster pike
@@senanstanleyfishing class Senan..i will hopefully get out in a week or two...at moment I'm buying lures..obsessed 😅
Great stuff Senan👍👌🏻🎣
Thanks Brian 👌👍
Amazing video a 21lb hen pike on 12lbs fluorocarbon leader for Trout! Thats super light great bend in your rod and fight! 👏
Thanks pal, ya was a good fight when she came to the boat , the berkley trilene 12lb fleuro is so impressive 👌 I couldn’t believe the width of her when she came into the net 😂👌
Lovely pike sham 👍👍👍
Sound out bud 🔥💪
great video, really enjoyed it thanks
Thanks for watching 🙌🙌🎣
Such a good pike to get especially on light gear 😎
Nowhere to be seen when pike fishing, turns up when trout fishing, always the way 😁🎣
Catches big pike
“Broke my heart”
Was hoping it was a Ferox at the start 😁
Hi Senan what month do the big female pike come into the shallows to spawn in lough derg ?
There’s no set month, it’s all got to do with the water temperature and weather conditions, they don’t all spawn at the same time. ☺️👍
thanks
Where do you go fishing
Ireland ☺️
@@senanstanleyfishing where in Irland what lake
Mate don't wind the reel when the clutch is giving line causes line twist . Banging pike though 👌
I never get line twist with the swivels I’m using but thanks for your comment bud, thanks for watching dude 🎣
Mite be a stupid question mate but do ya use an anchor when ya stop in a spot to stop ya drifting?
